LTJ Bukem – Fabric Live Promo (12-Jun-2009)

The mix is just me on two turntables doing what I do. Secondly, I wanted to represent people on the mix that I am working with on Good Looking, who I have a strong belief will have some longevity in what they are doing, and are going to be prolific artists in their own right. So you’ve got people on there like Greg Packer from Australia, Tidal a new guy from Birmingham, you’ve got about four or five tracks from Furney who is rapidly becoming a massive name worldwide, a new guy I found from Vienna called Paul SG, another new guy called Locksmith, Eveson who is making waves in the scene, a track from Tayla on there, a track from a guy in Syncopix who have been releasing on Hospital for a few years. For me, it doesn’t matter who the artist is, it’s just about good music. That’s been my ethos since day one.
1 Redeyes / Battle Sweet Things*(Spearhead)
2 Redeyes & Mutt / Ode To The Ghetto*(Good Looking)

Ableton 8 Live Tour-Richie Hawtin, Ambivalent and DJ Rupture

Posted in News on June 16, 2009 by E.N.

Richie Hawtin, Ambivalent and DJ Rupture will be among the DJs and producers speaking at the Ableton 8 Live Tour, hosted by Dubspot, later this month in New York.

The DJ/production school has made news of late, as laid-off workers flock to its environs while the economy remains in the doldrums. That’s one of the reasons that Dubspot has gone on the road, taking some of its instructors with them to various cities across the United States to help teach eager students about Ableton Live’s newest release, 8.0.

At the New York stop, there will be two days of workshops. On the first, Hawtin and Ambivalent will be the stars of the show by “giving their own take on the process as a whole, covering unique tricks and strategies that help them forge the sounds of Minus.” Meanwhile, on day two, DJ Rupture will hold court on the recording of acoustic instruments and how to set-up your gear to process it properly. Throughout both sessions there will be plenty more lessons to be learned, though: Check the event listings below to find out details on each.(RA)

RA.159 Manuel Tur

Posted in Podcast, RA on June 16, 2009 by E.N.

Essen’s young hope turns in a stellar house set for his week’s RA podcast.

Essen’s Manuel Tur is the definition of a wunderkind. After starting to listen to electronic music at a young age, he stuck his head into the production game at the ripe age of 16, and hasn’t looked back since—releasing records under his own name, Arcade Mode, Blackbird, Jermaine Jones, Tweeq and as part of Knabberbox, Dplay, Ribn and Ufoboys. To put it bluntly, the kid has had a lot of practice in a very short time.

He puts it to good use on his forthcoming debut album for Freerange, 0201, which takes advantage of the LP format by cobbling together a collection of tracks that complement one another beautifully. It’s a cliché, but it’s most assuredly an album—not a rushed status report of where Tur is at in 2009…more
