Matthew Herbert – Leipzig (new VIDEO)

Posted in Video on March 9, 2010 by E.N.

This is the premiere(fact exclusive) of the eye-popping new video from Matthew Herbert, for new single ‘Leipzig’, telling the story of “a young man’s hedonistic adventures in club land”.

Herbert has been commissioned by venerable classical imprint Deutsche Grammophon to produce the next in their series of Re:Composed series. He follows in the footsteps of Carl Craig & Moritz Von Oswald and Jim Tenor, and has chosen – as he puts it, “rather foolishly” – to take on Mahler’s 10th symphony.

His debut full-length ‘OK Cowboy’ made waves back in 2005 with its woozy blend of smarter-than-average synths and weirder-than-average samples. Then, last year, Vitalic confirmed himself a great with Flashmob, his second and finest long player to date: an album with a blistering, claustrophobically compressed production, beautifully brutal beats and madly addictive tunes, emotion, invention and melody, all delivered with a wink of its glittery disco eye. The Frenchman’s multilayered productions and sets get him gigs at places like matter, Bestival and Snowbombing and really are something fresher than most producers can ever offer.

His live show is a special one indeed… it’s a retina-scorching, brain-meltingly brilliant live performance which puts the man on a par with greats such as The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk and Kraftwerk.

Weekly event Fade has secured a huge headline act for their party on March 20th …Gatecrasher has a reputation the world over as one of the foremost clubbing venues in the UK and it will no doubt come alive tonight with such excellent musical offerings, so don’t miss out! Polly and The Chosen Ones also play tonight and provide the sort of varied electronic beats you can’t help but get down to.

‘Tron Legacy’ Trailer Premier+New Daft Punk in Trailer

Posted in Movie, Video on March 9, 2010 by E.N.

Movie TrailersMovies Blog

While lots of fake MP3s claiming to be “new Daft Punk music from Tron!” have come and gone over the last few months, we finally have our first real taste of the French duo’s score for the forthcoming Tron Legacy. In the second half of the new trailer for the sequel to the 1982 cult classic, we hear a ridiculously huge pulse that sounds like Human After All ripped on gallons of muscle milk. The thing looks amazing, too.

Tron Legacy, featuring Oscar winner (!) Jeff Bridges, is out December 17 (in 3D!) from Disney. Watch the trailer below and download an iPod-friendly version of it here and a maxed-out 1080p version here.(pitchfork)

The first peek at Disney’s 3-D sequel starring Garrett Hedlund delivers the frenetic techno-punk energy fans expect.

Light cycles, laser discs and vintage arcade games — everything old is new again in “Tron Legacy,” this December’s 3-D sequel to the classic 1982 science-fiction film, “Tron.” After the film’s first official trailer opened wide in theaters last weekend, Disney has released it online this week, so viewers at home can witness the same frenetic techno-punk energy that fans have anticipated since the project was first announced at Comic-Con in 2008.

The trailer begins as “Tron” veteran Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner) explains to young Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) that he’s received a signal from Sam’s missing father, Kevin (Jeff Bridges), the computer-programming protagonist of the first film. The information leads Sam to his father’s old arcade, a place that hasn’t seen action in 20 years. There, Sam discovers Kevin’s secret workroom and is inadvertently drawn into a digital world filled with vicious competitions and equally ruthless competitors. Wearing the white-and-blue uniform that his father wore nearly 30 years earlier, Sam eventually encounters Kevin, a broken man far removed from his heroic and youthful appearance in “Tron.”

Weeks ago, the “Tron Legacy” trailer premiered at special 3-D screenings around the country as the culmination of a viral campaign initiated on the Web site FlynnLives.com. The trailer, which offers the first extensive look at characters played by Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and more, is playing before Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” on 3-D, IMAX and regular screens.

In January, “Tron Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski told MTV News that the film’s 3-D approach has less in common with James Cameron’s immersive “Avatar” than it does with “The Wizard of Oz,” in the sense that 3-D effects will be relegated to the Tron world rather than the film’s reality-based scenes.

“When you make a movie, you can only make the movie that you would want to see,” Kosinski said of his approach to the sequel. “For me, it was taking what I loved about the first film, which was the design elements that Syd Mead and Moebius [a.k.a. Jean Giraud] did, which I feel is timeless, and extrapolate it forward 28 years. We’re saying in the world of the computer, it’s been thousands of years and it has evolved.”(MTV)

“Tron Legacy” debuts nationwide on December 17, 2010.

Relation’s Single ‘Optimistic’ Out Now, With Remixes For Download

Posted in Dance, Electronic, Indie, Promotions on March 9, 2010 by E.N.

Urban Torque Recordings
April 26th 2010

‘Optimistic’ is Relation’s second single from their debut album ‘Fear Of Night’. Critically acclaimed in Electronic music industry circles and buoyantly welcomed in the Indie sphere, Essex boys Andrew Leary and Oliver Keech have developed an alternative, unique sound by combining meaningful lyrics with synth-pop to create both emotional depth and electronic rhythms. Although the compositions are truly progressive and they embrace a futuristic approach to their productions, their music has brought comparisons to New Order and the Pet Shop Boys as well as a wink to Depeche Mode.

“How can we play the rent when the money’s spent?”

‘Optimistic’ melds contemporary and classic electronic pop sounds, entwining bubbling synths into a social criticism of bankrupt modern Britain where meritocracy is dead and financial and emotional hardship can be all pervading. Oliver’s pleading and compelling vocals give the track a stand-out edge that should instantly provoke genuine interest and emotion in the listener. Cassette Club’s remix is a storm of soft electro combined with delicious disco while the Diogenes Club stay true to their sound and deliver a smooth remix with their uplifting Balearic signature. The band Eat More Cake gives a powerful resonance to the lyrics with atmospheric sounds and exoticism. Laserdisco, one of Andrew Leary’s experimental projects, is class dub with a dark eerie feel and Stephen Lopkin provides a kooky tech-house remix with heavy underground influences. Last but not least is Soundexile’s bouncy deep house remix that echoes the original’s thoughtful lyrics – perfect for dance floor warm-ups.
