Hugh Cornwell Gives Thumbs-Up

To Free Downloading

and Offers Latest Release, Hooverdam, On Website

Please Don’t Put Me On A Slow Boat To Trowbridge
MP3 Download Available Now!

In a recent BBC News interview, former Stranglers frontman Hugh Cornwell endorsed free music downloading, coming just as the British government plans to crack down on illegal downloaders. Hugh, currently touring the United States, argues that a new generation is exposed to his music through the Internet and they, in turn, spend more money on his live performances.

“There’s a whole generation of people who have never heard of me or the band I used to be in, The Stranglers. The question is, how do I reach them?” Huh asks in the video. “As far as I’m concerned, the free downloading of music is something we should embrace and not fear… People introduced to my music free online are more likely to buy my records and come to my live shows.”

Hugh is pioneering free downloads as his latest album, Hooverdam, is available for free download at his website, Hughcornwell.com which is available for viewing in twelve languages.
He has also released the MP3 for single “Please Don’t Put Me On A Slow Boat To Trowbridge” from the new record which you can download here.

Hugh Cornwell is continues to tour the U.S. in support of Hooverdam. The tour kicked off March 24 in Tuscon, Arizona and continues throughout the country until wrapping up April 10 in Chicago.

Exclusive new Young Punx album “Mashpop and Punkstep”preview +Free Downloads

Posted in Dance, Electro, EMN Promo, Funk, Indie, Pop, Promotions, Punk with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 22, 2010 by E.N.

The Young Punx return for their second studio album, a startling and inventive exploration of the deliberate destruction of genre boundaries in electronic music. Probably the first album in history to have toyed with drum and bass, heavy metal, electropop and cuban timba within the first 5 minutes (!) “Mashpop and Punkstep” is a vibrant manifesto for the next generation of mashup music. Featuring the epic collaboration with Memphis hip hop Don ‘Count Bass D’ – “Ready For the Fight” (already heard as the theme music for EA Games “Fight Night 4″ and as official entry music for world middleweight champion Arthur Abraham), the J-pop electro disco of SugarCandySuperNova and the Ragga House of “Juice and Gin” the album spans Puccini Opera, Punk rock, hip hop, synth pop, Japanese rock and much more…

“[The Young Punx are...] jubilantly shredding genre boundaries, swooping like crack crazed Magpies to grab their favourite shiny bits with maniacal gusto” – Clash Magazine

FACT Mix 103 – King Midas Sound

Posted in Deep House, Dub, Dub Step, Funky, Grime, Podcast, Pop, Reggae on November 23, 2009 by E.N.

FACT mix takes the form of a very special session from King Midas Sound, the trio of Kevin ‘The Bug’ Martin, Roger Robinson and Hiroki.

All live edited, with special effects and additional vocals and commentary from the London trio, KMS’s FACT mix reads like a list of influences on their twilight Lovers Rock sound, featuring sweet reggae in Tanya Stephens and Gregory Isaacs, dusty shoegaze in My Bloody Valentine and A.R. Kane, modern favourites Burial and Little Dragon, and tracks from Sade, Larry Heard and Scritti Politti, plus material from their forthcoming debut album, Waiting For You on Hyperdub.

We’re blown away from it, and pretty much play it every other morning in our office. Not only is a great listen, it provides a genuine insight into the conception of Waiting For You, one of the year’s most intriguing albums which should drop towards the end of this month
