Psymbionic – PostWaveFutureCore Remixed

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , on May 17, 2013 by E.N.

Psymbionic - PostWaveFutureCore RemixedLove & Light set a futuristic soundscape with an understated psi-fi excursion into Dubstep realms, the mood picks up quickly after that with Samples crunching bits with a glitchy banger take on the tune ‘Inertia’. On the deeper side Aligning Minds provides lushed out landscapes of dubby atmosphere set to rhythmic urban beats. Knight Riderz then pound out a Trap slammer that has already proven to get dancefloors bouncing. Dov then comes in with a Drum & Bass version of ‘Apex’ with reworked horns utilizing dancehall influences and then dropping into an epic wobbly bassline drop. Hypha rounds things off with a gorgeous tune that goes even further ‘out there’ with a tune or what could also fall into ‘Future-Bass’ , ‘Slowfast’ or ‘Juke’ genre descriptions. All in all a thorough journey through some of Bass Musics sub-genres.

Olugbenga ‘Hafiza [INNOCENCE]‘ (Pictures Music) 20th May

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on April 27, 2013 by E.N.

OLUGBENGA 'Harfiza [INNOCENCE]'Release Date: 20th May 2013
Format: 12” Vinyl / Digital

Hafiza [INNOCENCE] is OLUGBENGA’s debut release. Having built a following DJing at festivals and clubs worldwide, crafting remixes and producing mixtapes, OLUGBENGA’s music draws on elements from hip-hop, techno, gospel and the claustrophobic soundscapes of post-rock.

As a producer, OLUGBENGA’s work has seen him receive support on BBC 6Music from Lauren Laverne and a selection of BBC Radio 1 presenters including Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens.  There have been remixes for the likes of Alt-J and Esben And The Witch – all of this support arriving before he has officially released a signed piece of solo material.

Otherwise known as Olugbenga Adelekan and as bassist from the Mercury nominated band Metronomy, Hafiza [INNOCENCE] sees this artist creating unique and personal electronic music with commercial sensibilities. What originally seem like vocal samples are in fact OLUGBENGA’s own singing pitched and edited in ways that span forlorn choruses to percussive melodies. Saw-wave synthesisers and huge bottom ends back up these three tracks, which feel equally at home in both the club and headphones.

Tracklisting:
A1. Hafiza [INNOCENCE]
B1. I Can Be Whatever You’re After
B2. Time Dollars

Sanctums ‘Modern Math 001′ (Modern Math Recordings) 31st May+Free Download EP

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , on April 24, 2013 by E.N.

Sanctums - Modern Math 001From Calgary, Canada the inaugural release from Modern Math Recordings delves deeply into the texture of modern bass music, supporting home grown artists on a global stage.

Inspired by a common love for classical music, film soundtracks, ambient white noise, dub techno and hip hop; Sanctums is the experimental electronic musical project of friends Dan Solo and Evangelos Typist. Their 2012 white label release ‘Truth Lifting Up Its Head Against Scandals’ caught the attention of Andrew Ryce at Resident Advisor, who wrote “By the time the masterful closer rolls around, they’ll have you deeply immersed in their world. You’ll be glad you stuck around.”

‘Modern Math 001’ works a spectrum of feelings. No one musical influence overbears any other. Lead track ‘Thirst Or Land’ introduces the EP’s deep textures through hypnotically layered patterns. ‘Satellite Past Tense’ pulls the grittiness away for a brief and shining moment, leaving listeners awash in sunrise tranquillity. ‘Tympanum’ marches relentlessly onward, house structure forming the ethereal Sanctums sound into a near chant.

Sanctums have effectively appropriated their myriad tastes and loves into a coherent whole that stands alone, a testament to the appeal of those who slave for their craft, pouring hours into the computer screen, deep into the night. Dark brooding into elevated movement. Tension into beauty. Less into more. A muted urban soundscape painted with woozy vocal flourishes and hypnotic walls of reverb. These are the alchemical sonic tricks Sanctums play on ‘Modern Math 001’.

Release Date: 31st May 2013
Format: Digital

Tracklisting:
01 Thirst or Land
02 Tympanum
03 Satellite Past Tense
04 Magnum Opiate
05 Jaguar (Silence in Presence)
06 Pyramid Scheme

Download:Debian Blak X Aaliyah Free EP [Audio Doughnuts]

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on March 21, 2013 by E.N.

Aaliyah_DebianBlak_FullEP400pxAUDIO DOUGHNUTS’ latest signing, DEBIAN BLAK, readies his much anticipated ‘Six Months From Mars EP’ for them featuring four original tracks with vocal collaborations from NEO JOSHUA and MT. WOLF’S (one of CLASH MAGAZINE’S 2013 bands to watch) lead vocalist KATE WOLF. To celebrate his partnership with the label he is giving away his three track concept EP - Debian Blak x Aaliyah’ which is now available to download.

The three songs are a bootleg rework project dedicated to one of his favorite 90’s musicians – the departed RnB superstar, AALIYAH. Re-interpreting her music, Debian set out to re-build her songs as if he had originally produced the material today, taking them in a new previously unheard direction.

Debian’s natural musicianship developed over the years through playing the violin, drums and piano which
lead to an interest in production with him honing his skills from the age of 16. He burst onto the electronic scene in 2009 with a remix of KIDKANEVIL’S ‘Tokyorkshire’, alongside R+S regular AIRHEAD on FIRST WORLD RECORDS, the home where he released his first critically-acclaimed debut EP, ‘A Hint of Menace’.
His well received debut catapulted him to the forefront of the underground electronic scene and garnered
rave reviews and air play on BBC 6 MUSIC with praise coming from MARY ANNE HOBBS, DAEDELUS and NICOLAS JAAR. Never one to stand still and while playing in a variety of bands, along with soundtracking television shows and films, he produced another solid release, ‘Hawks & Spies’ for First World Records which really highlighted his distinctive production skills and brought his natural song writing ability to the fore.
