Classically trained musician and electro-pop composer Yuksek (aka Pierre-Alexander Busson) is about to invade the US, bringing a flurry of swooping, dance-pop anthems guaranteed to make you hum and sway. Empowered by his previous work with artists such as Chromeo and Amanda Blank, Yuksek’s new album pushes our lovely Frenchman to the front lines, both as vocalist and leading a fierce live band. On Living On The Edge Of Time, he marries the distorted, saturated sounds of dance floor decadence for which he’s known with a more melodic and catchy, pop vibe. Living On The Edge Of Time will be released February 14 on Ultra Records and stay tuned for the “Off The Wall” single coming soon.
Album opener “Always on the Run,” sets the album’s underlying tone of chaos and movement grabbing you with a transfixing vocal melody that submerges you into the album. Tom Furse of The Horrors recently put his special touch on the song and you can download the Always On the Run” (Tome Furse Remix) MP3 HERE.
There’s always been a pop heart beating inside Yuksek’s unique brand of electronic dancefloor bangers. Always catchy hooks hidden between the acid loops, hints of glam and indie infiltrating his energized house beats. Tunes like “So Far Away From The Sea” and “Extraball” from his acclaimed debut album revealed a powerful pop sensibility, deeply rooted into a lifelong affinity to artists as David Bowie, Gary Numan and The Cure, but also a devoted love for Lou Reed circa Transformer, Serge Gainsbourg, early West Coast-rap and the Warp label. Living On The Edge Of Time is the sound of an artist who can’t ignore the muse, a restless producer constantly in motion and a musician devoted to evolution.
The first single, “On a Train” is a true dance-floor anthem that builds to an explosive chorus with a skittering beat that will get stuck in your head for days. On “White Keys,” a hauntingly eerie synthesizer sets a more contemplative mood while lingering over an up-tempo beat. Lyrically referencing the album title, “The Edge” has a pulsating beat sliced by keyboards stabs eventually exploding into a synth-fueled chorus. Closing the record is the 5 minute throbbing psychedelic pop-behemoth “Out Of Control,” complete with finger snaps and a driving bass line.
Continuing his journey of musical evolution Yuksek is prepared to unleash his tour de force sound, making a lasting impression on American shores.
Psymbionic Releases Debut EP “Illusions”, Out Now On Made In Glitch
Plus Free Original Mashup Featuring Chromeo
The debut EP from Austin, TX producer Psymbionic arrives today on California-based Made In Glitch. Drawing on a wide array of influences, the “Illusions” EP traverses the spectrum of bass music with five tracks that weigh in on multiple sub genres of Dubstep. The title track “Illusions”, featuring San Francisco MC Joe Mousepad, takes a page from UK Grime and shares some Garage energy with the more contrasted “Amalgamaelstrom”. Both “Oscillating Orbs” (w/ ONE4ALL) and “Space Monkey” stylistically derive from more instrumental hip hop roots, utilizing engaging rhythms and shuffle. A collaboration effort with A/V artist Pharo brings up the rear, titled “Scooby Don’t”, providing heavy vibes and a spooky overtone. This strong debut offers a better taste of the originality that has brought much acclaim to Psymbionic’s remixes, and predicts a bright and fruitful future for the energetic producer.
Bio:
As a part of the upcoming generation of electronic music producers, Psymbionic creates aural experiences that demonstrate the possibility for multi-tempo Bass Music and culture to exist within a range of more divergent influences.
With this latest project, John Burcham has been moving bodies and turning heads for several years, playing with acts such as Bassnectar, STS9, Beats Antique, ill.Gates, Excision, EOTO, and Tipper. In addition to festival appearances that include Nocturnal, Wakarusa, and Sonic Bloom, Psymbionic demonstrates heavy involvement both on the stage and behind the scenes at electronic showcases such as his local SXSW in Austin, TX. Burcham’s work informs his repertoire with roots in the furthest reaches of the electronic music scene, and grants him a unique perspective on each crowd through the latest developments of the industry.
In a live show context, Psymbionic confronts mixes that are limited to the scope of the build and release, avoiding an industry epidemic of drop-monotony that overpowers the flow of music. Burcham seeks to prove that there are more powerful influences in moving a crowd than simple anticipation, providing an interwoven dynamic that relies on the strength of his blend, rather than the sole force or familiarity of the apex.
Psymbionic’s theory of music is a journey that doesn’t visit the same place twice, building excitement for what’s next not because you can anticipate it, but because you’ve never been there before.

At the age of 34, DJ Mehdi, electronic music and hip-hop producer, died in an unfortunate accident at his house last night. According to the French media, he was standing on the mezzanine of his Parisian home when it suddenly collapsed. Accompanied by three other people, they would still be hospitalized at the moment.
From Tunisian decent, Mehdi Faveris-Essadi has always been a talented music freak. He started to spin on his father’s turntables at the age of 12 years old and never stopped since.
Mehdi started out as a producer for hip-hop artists in the 90s, notably for the famous group 113, and was known as the DJ for Different Teep and Ideal J.
Later on, he became more and more interested in electronic music. After Pedro Winters signed him with Ed Banger Records, he released the “Lucky Boy” album in 2006 and joined the French electro elite working with Justice, Daft Punk, Uffie, and SebastiAn.
DJ Mehdi grew in this family and showed his talent through many artistic collaborations such as the famous duet Carte blanche including Henry Riton and himself. He also co-founded the Club 75 regrouping Justice, Cassius, and Daft Punk on international tours.
At 4 a.m. last night, DJ CutKiller posted the first tweet announcing Mehdi’s tragic death, “Dj Mehdi !!! there are no words for expressing the sadness I feel… a friend is gone…rest in peace bro”. The electronic scene is in shock! All of his collaborators and friends have been continuously posting messages on Twitter and Facebook honoring his memory. Very close to Chromeo after they came up with the song “I am Somebody”, he wrote “We lost our brother. No words”. Him and his brother A-track are now flying to Paris.(neontommy report)

The Rapture recently shared “How Deep Is Your Love?,” the first album track from In The Grace Of Your Love, along with Emperor Machine’s remix of the track via Adult Swim (downloads for both below!). Now, we’re excited to share the news of The Rapture’s first full U.S. tour in support of the album, which will see them on the road from late September through October!
The band has set the bar high with the first track, but this is just the beginning. Produced by Philippe Zdar (Phoenix, Beastie Boys, Chromeo), the writing and recording process for In The Grace Of Your Love connected the band back to why they started playing music in the first place. Drummer Vito Roccoforte explains that they “focused on the process more than the results. We approached the album in a fearless manner, with nothing to lose.” By recapturing the fun and love for the process, the results were definitely a win.
THE TOXIC AVENGER MAKES HIS AMERICAN DEBUT
French Electronic Music Visionary Releases “Never Stop” Single & Video
Full-length Album Angst set for September 13 release, U.S. tour to follow
French DJ/Producer The Toxic Avenger is showing America why he has become one France’s hottest electronic commodities.
Previously named a Rolling Stone magazine ‘Artist To Watch’, Simon Delacroix - a.k.a. The Toxic Avenger – celebrates the domestic release of his “Never Stop” single [purchase here on iTunes] with the unveiling of the song’s video, which premiered in the United States on Vevo [click here to watch video].
Whether sharing a stage with artists ranging from MSTRKRFT and Bloody Beetroots to Late of the Pier and Crystal Castles, or remixing acts including Ladytron, Benny Benasi and Chromeo, Delacroix’s Toxic Avenger persona has become a white hot addition to the worldwide electronic scene, uplifting House by its foundation with an aggravated flurry of big beats, distorted-pop and ambient dissidence, and creating an other-worldly dimension that mesmerizes listeners and energizes live audiences.
“Never Stop” – featuring Robert Bruce of UK act South Central on vocals – is the lead track from Delacroix’s upcoming release Angst, scheduled to hit the streets Stateside on Sept. 14 via Little Owl Recordings/Roy Music. Two additional singles and remixes will precede the release of the album. The disc, hatched in Morocco, is a diverse, pop-format bloodbath: punk-electro, dark folk, blip-hop anthems, and of course, Delacroix’s trademark thriller beats.
With tour dates scheduled worldwide through summer, The Toxic Avenger will bring his DJ set to America in fall – check his website for complete dates.
The Rapture have announced the release details for their long awaited third album In The Grace Of Your Love on September 6th through DFA Records.
The release of In The Grace Of Your Love marks the dawn of a new chapter in the bands history and a welcome return to DFA Records, having re-signed with the label that released some of their most acclaimed early singles, and whose founders James Murphy & Tim Goldsworthy produced their debut album Echoes. This an exciting release for the DFA familiy who will also be celebrating that same month the iconic label’s 10th Anniversary.
Together with French producer Philippe Zdar (Phoenix, Beastie Boys, Chromeo) they have crafted and shaped a bold & euphoric album that sounds definitively & distinctly like The Rapture and no one else. Through the course of its eleven tracks, you can immerse yourself as waves of lyrical optimism & introspection crash between angular guitars & pulsing synthesizers, pounding drums & into sweet rhythmical lullabies. This is the sound of The Rapture re-engaged and revitalized with a voice as clear as they ever had.
