The 10th annual four-day camping and music festival will be held on June 9 – 12 on the same beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville. A full list of confirmed acts follows, and more will be announced in the coming weeks. The 2011 event marks the 10th year for the legendary festival, which began in 2002 as a remarkable idea to serve a passionate yet underappreciated and overlooked fanbase, and ended up becoming the premier multi-day concert destination of the summer whose dynamic and eclectic programming paved the way for the age of the great American music festival. This year’s lineup is yet another fine example of the incomparable eclecticism for which Bonnaroo has become famous. Featured acts include: Eminem, Arcade Fire, Widespread Panic, The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket and Lil’ Wayne, String Cheese Incident, Robert Plant & Band of Joy, Mumford & Sons, The Strokes, The Decemberists, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Florence + the Machine, Girl Talk, Primus, Big Boi, Gregg Allman, Robyn, Deerhunter, Sleigh Bells, Amos Lee, Opeth, Del McCoury and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Wanda Jackson, The Walkmen and an exclusive festival performance by Buffalo Springfield featuring Richie Furay, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Rick Rosas and Joe Vitale. This year’s lineup will again cement Bonnaroo as a force in music discovery, exposing its fans to legendary artists, current favorites, as well as breaking acts.
As one of the special programming highlights of its 10th year, Bonnaroo is excited to announce a rare joint appearance by Dr. John and The Original Meters recreating, in its entirety, the legendary 1974 album Desitively Bonnaroo, the source of the festival’s moniker. Another celebratory aspect to the programming, organizers have confirmed Eugene Hutz as the curator of this year’s specialty venue, dubbed “Global Gypsy Punk Revue.” Continuing Bonnaroo’s tradition as a platform for historic collaborations, the festival is announcing the return of the SuperJam featuring Dr. John, the Black Key’s Dan Auerbach and more to be announced soon.
As the only round-the-clock major U.S. music festival, Bonnaroo packs an unparalleled amount of entertainment options into its four days. The event has offered its attendees the amenities and community spirit of a small city, with 24 hours of activities including a comedy theater, cinema festival, broo’ers festival, silent disco, salon, sustainable gardening lessons, arcade, Internet cafés, restaurants, yoga classes and hundreds of high quality craft vendors. About the 2010 event, Rolling Stone hailed, “In its ninth year, Bonnaroo has done an impressive job of hanging on to its reputation as one of the most eclectic music and arts festivals,” while the Wall Street Journal called it “one of rock’s best festivals,” and MTV claimed, “If you’re angling for a road trip – there’s no better destination.”
In celebration of Bonnaroo’s 10th year and in recognition of the festival’s iconic status, Ben & Jerry’s will be making Bonnaroo Buzz available for purchase in pints in frozen foods freezers across the country as the company has selected it to be one of its prestigious flavors for 2011. Bonnaroo Buzz is the flavor Ben & Jerry’s designed in 2010 specifically in honor of the festival. Until now, it was only available in Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops.

Expatriate – Missing(Everything But The Girl’s- Cover) by extramusicnew
Expatriate began when frontman Ben King met and drank with Cristo and Damian Press – keyboardist and guitarist – on various occasions on the indie music scene of Sydney.
Damian fashioned a studio and general creative space for the band to take their sound and vision forward. It was here, in the hundred-year-old house, that became known as Ginsberg studio, that Ben brought in his initial demos for what would become their first EP release ‘Lovers le Strange’. It was from this start that set forth in motion, a sold-out national tour and support slots for the likes of Wolfmother and The Presets, and appearances at festivals The Big Day Out and Splendour in the Grass.
A string of international appearances followed, in London, Toronto, New York and Los Angeles, en route to Robert Lang Studios in Seattle, USA to commence recording of their debut record, In the Midst of This, with producer John Goodmanson (Death Cab for Cutie, Hot Hot Heat, Wu Tang Clan). Nirvana did their last sessions here and Foo Fighters recorded their first two records. Inspired by this studio setting on the edge of Seattle harbour, Ben recalls in a blog entry, it was like ‘being in a bookmark for the American dream’.

After solidifying their place in the contemporary musical landscape of Australia, including nominations for an ARIA Award (for ‘Best New Album’ and ‘Best New Band’), and album sales in excess of 20K, the four members (including Dave Molland on bass) are now, in fact, expatriates; moving to Berlin in the winter of 2008.

The main catalyst for the relocation came from Riverman Management, the company behind Placebo, taking the band on and managing them. They have since gained good airplay and press across Europe, and played some ofEurope’s biggest and best festivals such as Rock Am Ring in Germany, Hard Rock Calling Festival in UK, Werchter and Pukkelpop in Belgium, and Sziget in Hungary.

Felix Cartal – Volcano Featuring Johnny Whitney (Video)

New Video Features Dan Rather in Twisted Take on “the News”
From the debut album ‘Popular Music’ Out Now!

Felix Cartal just finished a new video for “Volcano,” featuring Johnny Whitney of The Blood Brothers and Jaguar Love, who adds his unmistakable vocals over Felix’s crunchy melodies.
The video, produced & directed by Ace Norton (LCD Soundsystem, She and Him, Death Cab For Cutie, etc.), compiles footage from the Mount St. Helens eruption of 1980, juxtaposed with a hilarious modern twist. Norton even managed to match up some stock footage of Dan Rather, seemingly lip-syncing to Felix’s distinctive vocals.
“As a kid, my parents would put on the CBS Evening News every night while we ate dinner,” notes Norton. “When they fired Dan Rather, I didn’t realize how comforting his voice was until it wasn’t there anymore. With all this coverage about the volcano in Iceland, it only seemed right to give the man one last broadcast, and make it about the biggest news story of all time – the impending apocalypse. This video is Dante’s Peak, meets Ron Burgandy, meets Poltergeist.” Definitely something you must see to believe.
Although a relative newcomer to the dance scene, Felix has already made quite the name for himself. Building a reputation off a stellar batch of early tracks, Felix has become one of the most sought after remixers, cutting tracks for artists like MSTRKRFT, Acid Kids, and Moving Units — not to mention his work with the pop icons like of Ashlee Simpson, Hillary Duff, and Britney Spears. It’s no wonder that before he even had an EP under his belt, Felix was scoring opening spots for Justice and Busy P and getting picked up by Undocumented Management (LA Riots, The Bloody Beetroots, MSTRKRFT).
