TEED-GETLOST-Totally Enormous Extinct DinosaursCrosstown Rebels infamous Get Lost series returns with a new episode delving into the more obscure and rare choices from the award-winning crossover dance act and old friend of the label, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Get Lost VI is a double disc compilation full of rarities and cutting edge house and techno carefully chosen and collated by TEED aka Orlando Higginbottom, including a new exclusive track made by him together with Eats Everything that will be released as a single on the label.

Crosstown Rebels’ seminal Get Lost series has previously featured quirky artists and musical hedonists Jamie Jones, Acid Pauli, Dinky and the label head Damian Lazarus. Each episode invites the artist to share new insights into their musical personality and indulge in their more distinctive and eccentric choices. Get Lost is also a renowned series of global events. “I couldn´t think of a better home for my first dj comp mix or whatever they´re called, Get Lost is a brilliant series with an intriguing past (and future). I´m very grateful to Damian and Crosstown Rebels for the opportunity, and excited for people to hear it,” comments TEED.

The eclectic first disc showcases the likes of Gold Panda, LFO and rare solo work from Art Department’s Kenny Glasgow as well as subtle additions such as a fascinating monologue from the notorious psychedelic scholarTerence McKenna. Whilst disc two returns to the dancefloor driven that TEED has become infamous for including a huge Breach remix of Jamie JonesAme rework of Tiga and heavyweight meeting of Subb-an & Tom Trago featuring Seth Troxler. The culmination of both hours makes for a timeless asset of electronic mastery available on CD, on vinyl and digitally.crosstown

“The Get Lost album project is a very special one for me and demands the most forward thinking artists to take on. TEED proved with his debut album that he is an electronic visionary and now he shows us the inside of his mind as a DJ – we all need to take note at this double album of brilliance.” Damian Lazarus

Catz ‘N Dogz -Body Language 12(Get Physical)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 20, 2012 by E.N.

 - The 12th episode comes from Polish duo Catz ´N Dogz who now reside in techno hub Berlin

- The collection features exclusive unreleased tracks from artists Eats Everything, Chmara Winter, Trikk or Squarehead as well as their favourite old classics tracks remastered

- Catz ´N Dogz debut album came out on Mothership in 2008 to great acclaim and they are currently working on a follow up featuring dOP, Claude Von Stroke, Jazzanova’s vocalist Paul Randolph

And the legend continues … Body Language has reached it´s 12th edition; proving that you can´t keep a good dog down. Mixed previously by acclaimed artists like DJ Hell, M.A.N.D.Y., Modeselektor, Dixon and more, it´s now time to hand over the controls to the next in line, this time it´s polish duo and Pets Recordings lead-men, Catz ´N Dogz.

Greg and Voitek have been extremely busy lately, establishing themselves on a global scale as artists with somethin´ to prove. Originally from Poland, the two began as ´3 Channels´, playing the Polish scene, and growing artistically and musically with each passing moment. They eventually departed from their homeland and set up base in Berlin. A name change came with their new surroundings and ´Catz ´N Dogz´ was born.

Their next move is unleashing a collection of their best cuts from the dancefloor. The duo said of Body Language Vol. 12, mixed by Catz ’N Dogz, “We were really happy that Get Physical asked us, especially because we are in good company here. We grew up listening to people like DJ Koze, Dixon or DJ Hell (previous Body Language mixers) so it´s a big honour for us.”

“This is our first official mix compilation, so we wanted to make it very special. We knew we want to make something showing all the music we like and what we play in clubs. Most of the older tunes we put in our mix have a lot of meaning to us. J. Antoni, Rhythm Plate, Schatrax or Gant – we have them on vinyl and through all these years the records are so used, that it is impossible to play them in the club anymore, because the needle always skips and they are really hard to get! What took the most time was to find all the people that own the rights to the old tracks we used in the mix, and allow us to remaster them and put them in our mix. It´s nice that some of the classics (that we love), will be now known and heard at home by other people; thanks to this compilation.”

“For our own label, ’Pets Recordings’, we get a lot of demos, and we got in touch with some new talents like Eats Everything, Chmara Winter, Trikk and Squarehead. They made really cool exclusive tracks for us and every track is very different. We are especially very happy with the Chmara Winter track and the SLG edit of Chez Damier and Robert Bosco, because it adds another Polish artist to the mix; and these guys are really talented.”

“We really wanted to show that it is possible to put every kind of genre of club music in one mix. That’s the idea of the cover; it shows our heads cut in half and with layers inside. We tried to create an art form from different layers that completes one finished piece. When we play in the club, we play very similar and we are changing the mood very often and try to keep things fresh and the surprise factor high.”

Futureboogie 10

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 4, 2012 by E.N.

2012 sees Futureboogie reach a decade in the land of club, a period in which the Bristol-based brands long running night and artist led agency has helped propel the city into the heart of dance music’s path. The special compilation ‘10’ marks their assault and an end to the year that brought new label, Futureboogie Recordings (FBR), into the equation and the brand to dizzying new heights.

Launching with the anthemic ‘Father Father’ by label co-founder Julio Bashmore last April, the Futureboogie label has been swiftly rising ever since. Every vinyl release has been a sell out with demand for new output at high frequencies and new fans have not been disappointed with their ubiquitous and eclectic take on beats and bleeps from an impressive cast of new artists.

FBR has brought a slew of fresh Bristol talent to the wider dance community. From the low slung beats of Behling & Simpson with their sub 116bpm take on house to Christophe & Lukas´ old school referencing but fresh as you like dance floor killers and Waifs and Strays honest interpretation of forward thinking house music, FBR has proved itself to be an authentic and daring imprint dropping anything from Balearic downtempo to garagey anthems and main room thumpers.

Futureboogie’s upcoming, aptly titled ‘10’ long player showcases the breadth of styles that they encompass. The album contains all brand new exclusive tracks from all the label´s core artists – Christophe, Lukas, Waifs & Strays, Behling & Simpson – plus new additions to the stable Eats Everything, Maxxi Soundsystem, Crackazat Type Sun who will all be releasing material on Futureboogie Recordings in 2012.

The album comes in unmixed format and offers a snapshot of Futureboogie’s insight and attitude. A poetic translation of the Bristol landscape that is bold and sharp, ‘10’ emerges triumphantly with the soaring strings of Typesun Last Home’. The broken beats of new Bristol name Crackazat develop this loose improvised feel, before staple artists Behling & Simpson splinter and each serve up tasty solo infusions.

Eats Everything has come to be one of the biggest success stories from Bristol in 2011, following hot on the heels of label cofounder, Julio Bashmore. EE’s BBC Radio 1 Essential mix was even recorded live at Bristol’s nighttime mecca, Motion. This enigmatic local hero contributes two tracks to ‘10’, and notably gears up the tempo while hinting at some exciting forthcoming material from him on the imprint. Other new faces Maxxi Soundsystem and Waifs & Strays have been busy making waves on not only FBR but also many of the best current labels, distilling their influence across styles and borders.

The past few years have thrown Bristol into the spotlight of house music. The quality levels have blown off the roof and Futureboogie is a huge part of the scene’s success. ‘10’ draws heavily from the strong pool of local talent while introducing some close musical friends who fall outside the postcode. Having not had to look outside the city so far for the quality they have been looking for this will be their first signings from outside the perimeters.

What originally started as a simple club night in good old Bristol town back in 2001, Futureboogie now rolls with global radio shows, a booking agency, management company, a list of A-grade parties and worldwide DJ bookings as long as a long armed man, excursions into festival programming and, most recently their record label, Futureboogie Recordings.

Over the last 10 years the cast of the Futureboogie team has changed but original members and Futureboogie DJs Joe90 and El Harvo are still holding things down, keeping all the plates spinning, and making things go bump in the night. A UK tour will also mark the exclusive 10-year anniversary bash culminating in a raw warehouse affair in the capital equipped with an array of the very best talent the label has to offer.

2011 has been an amazing year for us and the label. The artists who´ve released with us so far have all been friends and we like that, it gives the label strong family vibes and we´re big into that. The fact that we haven´t had to look outside Bristol shows the city has got such a strong pool of talent it looks likely that the majority of our output will continue to come from Bristol. We are first and foremost about putting out great music wherever it´s from; it just so happens that there is so much great stuff on our doorstep. The city has really put itself on the map for house music this year and it seems there is no sign of that stopping soon.”Futureboogie founders

Artwork to replace Martyn when Bloc comes to In:Motion

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 17, 2011 by E.N.

Due to unforseen and impossible circumstances Martyn has had to cancel his appearance at Bloc as part of In:Motion on the 25th November.

However, to replace him we welcome Artwork. Along with Skream and Benga Artwork is the third member of the mighty Magnetic Man, who have been dubbed the first half step super group. He also part owned the prestigious Big Apple records in Croydon, one of London´s surburbs which saw garage mutate into dubstep.

As Magnetic Man they perform using three computers, one playing drum samples, one playing basses and the third playing leads and samples. Artwork controls the master laptop, to which the other two are synchronised via Midi. Their sets usually consist of a mix of original tracks produced together, and live remixes of Benga and Skream´s tracks. Artwork will be playing alongside Joker, Nathan Fake, James Holden, 2562 plus many more.

As the English winter dictates the end of the UK festival season, Motion’s solid structure resumes play indoors letting the spirit of the summer blossom into the winter months.

Nearing the calibre of festival status in scale, sound and energy, Motion continue their expansion into yet more areas of the huge sprawling skate park, with warrens leading to multiple separate spaces, all hosting their own unique party.  Their ever-increasing loyal fan base and extensive line-ups are being pushed even further into the double warehouse, as well as outside in the car park, which comes equipped with food court, heated seating area and photo-booth. With each turn you can get more lost in Motion’s wondrous world of entertainment and outstanding music.

November sees the Field Day team take the magic of the festival and transport it through the night to the raw and vast confines of Bristol’s Motion.  After delivering a sterling line-up this summer in London’s Victoria Park, they hand pick the best for their In:Motion date, where we can witness DJ sets from Friendly FiresErol Alkan and Glaswegian electro whizz kid Hudson Mohawke.

Over the last few years, The BLOC Weekend annual festival has become a compulsory destination for electronic music fans.  No other UK festival so vigorously and variously reaps the vanguard of underground dance music past and present quite like they do. Last year they invited down dirty bird Claude Vonstroke and Andrew Weather to fill Motion’s Tunnel, with his unique and compelling musical selection. Destined to better themselves from last year, they bring dubstep prodigy Joker, hot off the heels of releasing his album ‘The Vision’ and Border Community Nathan Fake, for a festival sized line-up in an inner city club.

Sven Vath’s Cocoon are to techno what light is to fire. They continue to touch thousands of people across every continent with their inimitable brand and unfaltering shows. With weekly parties at Amnesia during the Ibiza season, Love Family Park, Green & Blue festivals and Cocoon in the Park, Cocoon are becoming synonymous with huge scaling events with immaculate production. One of Europe’s leading labels, they bring German duo Tiefschwarz alongside Shonkyand Dyed Soundorom from the French contingent, all heading to the West Country to bring the magic of Cocoon to Bristol for one night only.

Futureboogie join up with the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy and exude a festival feel with live shows from Crazy P and Henrik Schwarz, plus a back room hosted by London’s disco mafiaHorse Meat Disco. Ramping things up on the production side are Just Jack, who for their Halloween show bring aerial artists, art installations, costume and make up stalls. Interactive character actors will be roaming and terrorising all night throughout the club, on the floor and hanging from the ceiling. The Gunpowder Plot on the 5th November brings an explosion of action with a firework display, bonfire and circus performers to add more flames to the fire.

Bristol In Motion continues to stage live music events throughout the winter months from October through to the end of December. Offering the finest in musical and performing talent from across the world to touch your heart, body and soul – eyes and ears.
