Vancouver Sleep Clinic – Collapse(Stream)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on November 27, 2013 by E.N.

Vancouver Sleep Clinic - Collapse
Vancouver Sleep Clinic as a name in itself conjures up imagery of long cold winters, of isolation and remoteness and the sometimes self-imposed reclusiveness in all of us as the days get shorter and we move into the bitter months ahead. The adopted moniker of 17 year-old Tim Bettinson perfectly hones in on this visuality and with new track ‘Collapse’ taken from his forthcoming debut EP, the influences of those dark corners inside ourselves interweave throughout his sound.

As we draw closer into the winter here in the Western hemisphere, VSC feels like it was designed to be delivered just in time for the onslaught of the colder weather. Taking into consideration that Tim lives in Australia, he set about writing songs for VSC during his winter but what was in fact our Summer – timing can be everything.

After months of assembling lyrics and instrumentation from various math’s books, notes, whiteboards and bedroom walls, humbly working with scattered cheap microphones, an old laptop and an outdated keyboard – Vancouver Sleep Clinic’s debut EP was born, a combination of soaring falsetto vocals built upon progressive synthetic instrumentation to create an ambient base for a vessel of emotional connections to be made.

Bearing messages of sorrow, humility and hope above all else – songs are written from the heart alone. Together, let’s create something beautiful.

Having built an inimitable reputation as a writer and performer through collaborations with such legends of the game as Grace JonesCinematic OrchestraZero 7 and Bobby McFerrin together with performances in some of the world’s most famous venues and festivals, it’s time to discover ESKA’s own unique sound in full force on her new EPWith co-production on two tracks coming from electronic star Matthew Herbert, who has previously remixed tracks for BjörkR.E.M. and Yoko Ono‘Gatekeeper’ is sure to be unlike anything heard all year.

Prepare for the secret to be let out of the bag on November 20th with one of the year’s most hotly anticipated releases. With the buzz surrounding the ‘Gatekeeper’ EP building to a roar, it’s time to discover ESKA.

Jesse Woods Single “Lazerburn” (Stream)Debut Album, Get Your Burdens Lifted, Out August 6

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 26, 2013 by E.N.

Get Your Burdens LiftedAustinite Jesse Woods makes whiskey-drenched, echo-laden folk that is as haunting as it is beautiful. Woods has spent the past year writing and recording his debut LP in his self-constructed, all analog studio. Fans of the enigmatic songwriter’s early demos and Moon Rocks EP will be excited to hear that Get Your Burdens Lifted adheres to Woods’ signature smoky, resonant stylings that have landed him praise from both critics and musical peers across the board.

Through frequent collaboration with some of Austin’s finest talent (including studio co-owner Bill Baird of Sound Team and Sunset, and current buzz makers Sleep Good), Woods has honed a timeless yet unique sound that embodies the spirit of Austin’s underground.

Attracted by the “hint of strange” in Austin’s songwriting history, and demos from an old friend who was active in the Austin scene at the time, Woods wound up in the Texas hub for music and culture about 4 years ago.

The City’s blend of musical genres – most prominently the Americana sounds: blues, rock, country – and aesthetic inspiration have proven to be a rich breeding ground for Woods’ aural magic thus far. His previous work has landed him support from the likes of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Hanni el Khatib, Beach Fossils, Tori Amos, Tennis, These United States and many others.

Mumford & Sons Announce 2013 “Gentlemen of the Road” Stopover Shows

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 5, 2013 by danimonster

Mumford & Sons are pleased to announce the details of the 2013 series of Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers in the UK, US, and Canada this summer.

Each Stopover combines the intimacy of a community celebration with the excitement of a world-class music festival. This year the Stopovers are expanding to a Friday night concert followed by an all-day Saturday event. Mumford & Sons will headline the Saturday show, alongside an eclectic and energetic roster of artists curated by the band themselves. A series of smaller events involving local businesses, venues, and, most importantly, local people will happen in and around the town.

About this year’s upcoming Stopover tour, Mumford & Sons said: “The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers are all about live music. We get to put them on in towns not normally frequented by touring bands in busses or splitter vans. We deliberately look for towns that have something unique, or some vibe of which they are proud, explore them and enjoy what they have to offer.”

Like last year, the outdoor events will take place in carefully selected and unique locations across the United States and Canada following a stop in the UK, and will feature a host of internationally acclaimed acts including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Alabama Shakes, fun., The Vaccines, and many more to be announced. This year’s host towns include Simcoe, Ontario, Troy, OH; Guthrie, OK; and St. Augustine, FL. In 2012, the band curated seven total GOTR Stopovers: four in the United States, two in the UK, and one in Australia.

Tickets to the Stopovers go on sale at 11 am local time on February 8th. The tickets are $109, and will have no additional service fees or hidden charges. Each ticket will include a beautifully-designed, commemorative Gentlemen of the Road Stopover Passport. Campsites are incorporated into each Stopover site, and camping has become an essential part of the Stopover experience and is strongly encouraged. Three-night camping passes begin at $40 per person and can be purchased along with tickets at gentlemenoftheroad.com. For full details, see below.

Jason Bajada – The Sound Your Life Makes

Posted in News with tags , , , , on May 30, 2012 by E.N.

JASON BAJADA “THE SOUND YOUR LIFE MAKES”
Another Look at the Montreal Protests

Montreal singer-songwriter and MapleMusic Recordings artist, Jason Bajada has released a new video for “The Sound Your Life Makes,” the title track from his latest album. Bajada credits the city’s inhabitants with inspiring his songwriting and this video is a further representation of what the album is all about. It shows a positive and inspiring angle to Montreal’s ongoing student protests.

Bajada states: “Never have I seen Montreal so beautifully together. People, young and old, march and protest the recent student tuition hike & Bill 78 peacefully with their pots & pans every night at 8 p.m. Smiles are contagious and the city vibrates to the clanking as multiple neighbourhoods gather in the streets, uniting in one giant celebration. This is the sound Montreal makes!”

“Jamais je n’ai vu Montréal aussi belle. Tous les soirs à 20h, les jeunes et moins jeunes marchent et manifestent pacifiquement leur désaccord face à la hausse des frais de scolarité et la loi 78 avec leurs casseroles en main. Les sourires sont contagieux et la ville vibre au rythme du tintamarre, alors que de nombreux quartiers se réunissent dans la rue, s’unissant en une immense célébration. Voilà le son que fait Montréal!”
