Joss Moog Late Nite BeatsJoss Moog releases his debut album ‘Late Nite Beats’ on 14th June through Phil Weeks’ Robsoul Recordings. The Parisian has impressed with his releases on Robsoul since 2006, beginning with the much sought-after Room 25 EP, and has subsequently built up a discography including music for Magnetic, Maracuja, Kinjo, Exprezoo, Minority and Synchrophone.

Late Nite Beats showcases Moog’s skill at blending live instrumentation with soul-filled samples and beats from the vintage house boxes — it’s deep and musical, intricately crafted, but with more than enough bite to bump the dance floor, as tracks like Late Nite Beat, Mama Hold My Hand and Call Me testify. Moog’s love of funk and soul are in heavy evidence, with numerous departures from House on the tracks including Childhood Fancy, Last Chapter and Sweet Mary.  And there’s a clear French touch, with Which Flavour, That Woman and Second Chance delivering late 90′s styled filtered grooves that Daft Punk et al would be proud of.

A recently released four-track album sampler drew DJ support from a varied group of established players and current hot names — Rolando, Danny Howells, Kraak & Smaak, Radio 1′s Mosca, Gramophonedzie, Giom, Noir, Rolando, Moodymanc, Jimpster, Robert Owens, Diesel (X-Press 2), Mousse T, Ramon Tapia and Reboot just the tip of the iceberg.

He has written and recorded an album of beautiful, yet edgy, orchestral electronic jazz for Here And Now Recordings featuring such greats as;Neil Cowley on piano and Finn Peters on saxophone. Neil Cowley was the keyboardist in the Brand New Heavies before forming the legendary Neil Cowley Trio. Finn Peters has worked with many greats from DJ Spinna to Bill Frisell, Sa Ra to Sam Rivers, Joyce and many more.

This four-track introduction to Ambient Jazz Ensemble includes a remix by Kirk Degiorgio, plus two from Simbad.

Legendary composer, producer, DJ and label boss Kirk Degiorgio set up his label Applied Rhythmic Technology (ART) in the early 90s, releasing music from Carl Craig, Aphex Twin, Black Dog and Stasis. Shades Of Gray – the duo of Czech national Michal ‘Schwa’ Ruzickaand Aussie Nick West – have been turning many heads recently with their debut album ‘Soul Machine’ and the consistent quality of theirBeef Records imprint.  They certainly turned our heads here at Lost My Dog so we got them firmly onto our leash!  Their ‘All About The Drums EP’ contains four tracks of trademark deep and funky heads-down house including 3 collaborations, with Rodney O, Pavel ORM and Antsmif.

As the EP title suggests it’s all about the drums, and boy do they thump, snap, crackle and pop!  But its also very much about the bass which growls and drives when it needs to, and bounces along when it needs to.  The collaborators add guitar, synth and organ top lines to an EP that ranges from light and funky to dark and moody, while always deep and warm.

Nervous Records

New York City dance music institutions Nervous Records and Cielo unite once again with the March 6 release of “Cielo Sunrise” – mixed by Nicolas Matar. This compilation arrives as Cielo celebrates nine great years in NYC’s Meatpacking District. Over the years, the club has defined itself as a global dance music brand with a successful compilation series, dedication to quality music programming and superior Funktion One sound in an intimate club setting. In 2011, Cielo also became home to Nervous Records own branded music events which take place on the first Tuesday of each month.

Nicolas Matar’s musical style is very diverse, encompassing everything from Deep House, Soulful House, Nu-Jazz, Techno, to Disco Classics – and this is reflected in his gorgeous “Sunrise” mix. With tracks and remixes from Guy Gerber. DJ T, Parker Pooley, Layo & Bushwacka!, Martin Dawson & Glimpse, Humate, Vincenzo, YouANDewan, Jimpster and many more, this mix perfectly captures the programming at Cielo on any given night.

When first opened Cielo was a neighborhood pioneer in the Meatpacking District, establishing roots in an area best known for meat warehouses and unsightly characters. Since then the area has developed into a hub of designer hotels, fashion boutiques and high-end restaurants. To this day, the club has never strayed from its vision of being a music-driven dance venue and over the years established itself as one of the top clubs in the world. The venue’s one-room design and sunken dancefloor provides an intimate connection between the DJ and clubber that is unparalleled. “Cielo has been a labor of love from the very beginning for all those involved. Everything we do is for the love of dance music – from the sound, hospitality, lighting, and quality of music, all are designed to provide a superior night of clubbing,” Matar says

The club serves as host for two of the longest running weekly parties in the U.S. The legendary Body & Soul doyen Francois K helms Deep Space Mondays and house music legends Louie Vega & Kevin Hedge host Roots Wednesdays. Over the last year, the club has also seen its share of global superstar DJs including, Laurent Garnier, Luciano, Carl Cox and Danny Tenaglia. Nine years from its inception, Cielo still strives for excellence, never straying from its original vision and constantly delivering as an international clubbing destination for both DJs and clubbers.
