Thomas Azier Releases Ghostcity Remix EP

Berlin’s dark electronic pop singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Thomas Azier released his Ghostcity Remix EP  through Casablanca Records. Fans have already heard Pyramid’s great remix of “Ghostcity,” but today Azier has shared his self-remix of the track, along with compiling a new mixtape ( soundcloud). The mixtape features music from some of Azier’s favorite artists, including Kanye West, Kraftwerk, Hudson Mohawke and more.

Thomas Azier was born in the Netherlands, but relocated to Berlin at age 19. After hundreds of sketches and pre-productions on his computer, Thomas Azier eventually started to lay the final touches on his debut in fall 2012. He set up his studio in an old East German factory where the church bells for the Kremlin used to be manufactured. That old factory proved just the right place for the truly industrial twist on pop music Azier was looking for.

Knytro ‘Project Haarpoon’ Mixtape (Download)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 18, 2013 by E.N.

Knytro 'Project Haarpoon' MixtapeCurrently signed to UK label MTA Records (owned and founded by Chase & Status) Knytro has been working in the UK over the summer, honing his art at some tiny club shows as well as huge UK festivals (Wireless and Reading & Leeds Festivals respectively). The rapper grew up in Florida and draws all his influences from his US roots (comparisons include A$AP Rocky, Kanye West & Kendrick Lamar) but has definitely cut his own path and created his own unique sound.

D.VELOPED ‘Extra Fly’ (Free Download)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 26, 2013 by E.N.

D.VELOPED Extra Fly‘Extra Fly’ is a sample-based remix inspired by 90’s alternative rock and infused with contemporary hip-hop, indie and electronic music. With guest vocal features by Kanye West and Jim Jones, D.VELOPED creates a hook with multiple samples and rearranges them to once again deliver their esteemed quality mashup skills.

Mixing in a plethora of additional guest instrumental samples by David Grey, Tracy Chapman, Spandau Ballet, Arrested Development and Alt-J, the duo then produced everything else instrumentally to form a moombahton-like beat with their own creative flair.

“Our goal with this track, and with others before it, is to reach beyond the typical 2-layer mashup that is simply a single acapella on top of a single instrumental,” notesD.VELOPED, comprised of North Carolina-based male/female duo that combines eclectic genres, micro-samples and sounds with original production.

Unlike a traditional mashup, this track is what D.VELOPED likes to call a “3-D Remix” – a work that involves multi-instrumental and vocal samples built upon several layers of original production. Micro-sampling, chopping, re-arranging, recording and constructing instrumental components are all a part of this process.DLogo

Their ultimate goal is to develop a new sound that extends beyond the ordinary, transforming basic mashups and remixes into an undefined art form and listening experience.

With so much praise already awarded to this duo’s miracle mashup work in the past, this remix will only add to their index of notable productions.

With that said, it’s time to dig into D.VELOPED’s latest sonic masterpiece!

Free download: The Echo – Responsible EP

Responsible - Hero Image + TEXT v2.jpeg copyIn a totally organic way, three unique and fantastically different creative individuals from West London have come together to form a musical collective known to us as ‘The Echo’.

To accompany the release, the trio has collaborated with critically acclaimed director Andrew Attah to create an exclusive video for the lead single. Filmed at The Central School of Balletthe video features the beautifully talented ballerina – Francesca Tennant, who explores the art of dedication and determination. Andrew Attah, also known for his work with Calyx & Teebee and Netsky, keeps you gripped throughout by carefully capturing every element of the ballerina’s emotions.

The Echo’s heart and soul lies somewhere between the realms of electronic R’n’B and ‘outside of the box’ dance music. With an ear for intricacy and attention to detail, The Echo’s sound draws inspiration from the likes of Massive Attack, Crystal Castles, Gesaffelstein, Kanye West, & LCD Soundsystem.

Lead single from the EP ‘Responsible’ embraces an overtly mischievous persona, accompanied by an infectiously uplifting beat. The track’s blissful groove and inimitable vocals flood Responsible in desirable waves of creative brilliance. ‘Signals’ channels something completely different and challenges you with its enigmatic tone and striking vocal delivery. Its haunting nature remains constant throughout and the down tempo rhythm oozes with vulnerability and style. Telling its own story, ‘Find A Way’ evokes an epic and romantic feel, paying testament to The Echo’s diverse flair. The throbbing beat and cinematic synths set a chilling scene and ‘Find A Way’ closes with a sequence of intermittent chords.

On remix duty – London based producer iOSounds mixes in his own weighty bassline adding an unexpected layer to ‘Responsible’. With previous releases on Kerri Chandlers label ‘Madtech’ iOSounds has been gaining support from the likes of Disclosure, Skream & Benga, Eats Everything, Bondax and many more. Closing the EP with his on take on ‘Signals’, is Brighton based producer/DJ Ambassadeurs. Stripping things back with crisp hi-hats and a sonic soundscape, Ambassadeurs savours The Echo’s atmospheric production whilst adding his own favourable twist.

At this point we know little about the new trio but we can appreciate their honest and pure production efforts. The timeless video for ‘Responsible’ will remain clear in our minds, so sit back and indulge yourself in it, listen after listen.

TNGHTAhead of their headline US tour and forthcoming Friday night appearances at Coachella which features their explosive new live show, TNGHT wanted to share new music with their fans.

“Acrylics” evokes the spirit of late 90s UK happy hardcore whilst still maintaining the distinctive widescreen cinematics and percussive hip hop bounce which saw their 2012 EP become a defining release and cement the duo as the new production favorites of rappers from Kanye West to Lil Wayne to Kendrick Lamar.

As two of the most exciting artists in urban electronic music Glaswegian Hudson Mohawke and Montreal native Lunice came together last year as TNGHT to launch an all out assault on the world hip hop production – backing this up with an incendiary live show that they showcased last summer. Although both are well established as solo artists, this project gave them both an opportunity to indulge their more decadent tendencies.

TNGHT will also be appearing at selected festival dates throughout summer 2013, and stay tuned for more music.
