Tokyo, Japan: 2013. In a city where time and space can easily become uncontrollable factors, the underground electronic music scene has built its own culture and society for more than 30 years. Taking and incorporating influences from all over the world, the creations born from Japan’s underground continue to stay highly unique and maintain a clear sense of being deeply Japanese. ENA has been a multi-instrumentalist artist, studio engineer, DJ and producer for more than a decade now. The author of three acclaimed 12” releases over the past three years on the 7even Recordings imprint, his rare output has always impressed by the uniqueness of his sound and the high level of studio technique in his production. ENA has been tying the old to the new by blending diverse influences such as Dub music, early Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Techno and Abstract Hip Hop. He’s gained support from major players such as Surgeon, Laurent Garnier, A Made Up Sound, Pangaea, Goth-Trad and Peverelist to name but a few.

This first full-length album, “Bilateral”, is a visionary piece of music emerging from the studio of a very unique creator. Uncompromising, the 12 original tracks which compose “Bilateral” are the soundtrack of today’s Tokyo underground, the sound of a city of light and obscurity, stability and disequilibrium, stagnancy and full speed, the past, the present and the future. Press play and enter the world of one of the most creative composers of this generation.

Mario Basanov – Journey,November 26th

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 18, 2012 by E.N.

- Mario Basanov is one of the main dance icons of Lithuania and gaining big status on the Worldwide circuit for his remixes, solo and coproductions

- ‘Changed’ single (with Vidis) was one of the biggest records of 2011 with close to a million hits on youtube, relicensed for 3 different labels and not leaving MTV Baltic Top 20 for 18 months

- He won Producer of the Year in the Music Awards 2011 and is in demand from local pop stars for his production

- Consistent support from across musical styles counting fans from Gilles Peterson, Pete Tong,  Jazzanova, Atjazz, Laurent Garnier, Danny Daze, Soul Clap

- His music has been released on Future Classic, Under The Shade and Needwant

 - ‘Journey’ features collaborations with his past vocalists Jazzu and Stee Downes plus his biggest tracks reworked into new versions.

Mario Basanov comes from a different angle to most dance music producers. He’s one of a handful from Lithuania to make waves globally and has over a decade of experience despite still being in his twenties.

But his versatility is what really sets him apart. His productions have a pop sheen to them sounding as if they’ve been touched by superstars. His‘Changed’ single from 2011 made with Vidis has almost a million views on YouTube and was relicensed to three different labels (watchwww.youtube.com/watch?v=D2Enywte7HM) a prime example of his ability to turn dance music on its head and create long lasting hits in an usually disposable genre.

The Nile Rodgers of dance music, he is constantly approached by local pop heroes at home to produce their records. Perhaps it’s that he’s not afraid to make slow music, often less than 100bpm. Or perhaps it’s his adept use of vocals, taking classic voices such as Ernesto’s in ‘Changed’and embedding them with expansive melodies and crisp rhythmic arrangements.

In Basanov’s 16 track ‘Journey’ he exposes new and exclusive records featuring the vocalists that brought him to the limelight, such as Jazzutaking root in the elegant atmospheres of ‘Under Your Feet’ and Stee Downes who features on the more buoyant ‘Say What You Want’,shooting punches through the vocal lines and spinning magic within its synth basslines.

Basanov gathers many talented musicians for his long awaited polished full length, from the percussive master Rahjwanti for the graceful ‘Slip Away’to the feisty Miss Bee and sultry Athena Radford for the anthemic ‘Like A Child’.

These fresh offerings sit alongside revisits some of his biggest tracks to date with rare versions made especially for the album such as ‘We Are Child of Love’ and ‘Lonely Days’, the latter closing the album in epic style, parallel to a modern day Prince ballad.

His consistent and quality production techniques express a style that is both elegant yet enigmatic. His music sits as comfortably in the worlds of deep house, broken beat, nu jazz, disco, as well as the darker territory of acid and electro.

Rudimental “Feel The Love” ft. john Newman – released 28th May 2012

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 10, 2012 by E.N.

Artist: Rudimental
Title: “Feel The Love” ft John Newman
Label: Asylum Records / Black Butter
Release date: May 28th 2012
Format: Digital Download Single

Having premiered as the Hottest Record in the World on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show last week and with subsequent plays from Mistajam – who declared in a Certified Banger – and Annie Mac over the weekend, Rudimental are pleased to announce their debut major label single on Asylum Records in association with the cutting edge indie Black Butter.
‘Feel the Love’ is set for release on May 28th, a maximalist Drum’n’bass anthem full of organic instrumentation including a soaring trumpet break and a magnificent, unrestrained vocal courtesy of John Newman; the song is sure to be a summer smash.
‘Feel The Love’ comes hot on the heels of Rudimental’s underground smash ‘Spoons’ which has already amassed over 50 specialist plays on Radio 1, Kiss, 1Xtra, XFM and Rinse with support from The XX, Laurent Garnier and the tastemaker blogs.
This hot Hackney based quartet is made up of musicians Piers Agget, Kesi Dryden, Amir Amor and Leon (DJ Locksmith), who navigate through genres effortlessly. As Piers explains “we’re all into different styles of music. When I was young I was listening to blues, and I was listening to Dizzee and grime”, others in the group were into Garage and Hip Ho p, or old Soul and 2 Step. “The unifying thing is the soul influence and the bass influence” says Amir, “those two things are always there” alongside the real instrumentation: real bass, real Hammond, real brass, real strings and in the case of ‘Spoons’, real spoons. Not only do Rudimental handle all the instrumentation and production side of their music, they also write the lyrics for their guest vocal talent.
Immersed in music from an early age and always finding a way to forge a career in it, be that on pirate radio (Leon and Piers), producing garage or hip hop with likes of Plan B (Amir) or hanging out at his
now prolific Stoke Newington School – the place that Professor Green and Labrinth sprung from (Kesi) – Rudimental have music in their blood.
Alongside ‘Spoons’, a stunning, soulful house duet between vocalists MNEK and Syron, Rudimental have recently remixed Ed Sheeran’s ‘Drunk’, Benny Banks and Wretch 32 and are currently working on a remix for Labrinth’s forthcoming single.
‘Feel the Love’ is backed by a wealth of remixes from producers including UKF favourites Fred V & Grafix and Cutline and house dons Scuba and Dusky who all turn in mammoth mixes.
As might be expected of men with such a deep knowledge of the dance genres that are interwoven into London’s cultural and musical history, Rudimental also feel a strong connection to their communities and have seen how music can be an outlet for kids from troubled backgrounds. All of Rudimental have all worked as mentors for teens, an experience that was mirrored when they travelled to Philadelphia to film the soon to be released video for ‘Feel the Love’. The film features real kids as it documents an unexpected lifestyle in one of the city’s roughest neighbourhoods.
Rudimental have announced a string of touring dates, taking in the likes of Fabric and The Arches as well as festival appearances at Creamfields, SW4 and Outlook – Rudimental’s 2012 takeover is in

Electric Rescue – Lili EP (Bedrock)

Few French electronic music artists combine experience, avant-gardism and guaranteed success on dance floors as Electric Rescue (aka Antoine Husson) does. Having previously released tracks on Sven Vath’s Cocoon Recordings, Boys Noize Records, Sci + Tech, AFU limited, Communiqué, Subject and Sign Industry, he first unleashed his distinctive brand of ultra dynamic techno and sensuality on John Digweed’s Bedrock label at the tail end of 2011.
“Dope” (BEDDIGI13) was a huge tune for Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Secret Cinema, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Dave Seaman, amongst a plethora of diverse DJs worldwide. Now Electric Rescue returns to Bedrock with the super-strong “Lili EP”, featuring three killer tunes.
“Lili” has all the ingredients to be a massive tune all summer long. Combining melodic techno attitude with a big room mentality, it has all the right ingredients. Already a huge tune in John Digweed’s sets, this is going to explode to anthem status worldwide over the coming months. With the equally exciting “Opened Hands” and “Science” revealing an experimental and diverse side to the Electric Rescue musical palette, this is a very exciting EP package indeed.
Electric Rescue’s reputation is already flying high in France through his residency at the Rex Club (Skryptöm parties) and organising the “Play” rave parties in Paris, Antoine Husson is most definitely a man to watch in 2012.

Shades Of Gray – the duo of Czech national Michal ‘Schwa’ Ruzickaand Aussie Nick West – have been turning many heads recently with their debut album ‘Soul Machine’ and the consistent quality of theirBeef Records imprint.  They certainly turned our heads here at Lost My Dog so we got them firmly onto our leash!  Their ‘All About The Drums EP’ contains four tracks of trademark deep and funky heads-down house including 3 collaborations, with Rodney O, Pavel ORM and Antsmif.

As the EP title suggests it’s all about the drums, and boy do they thump, snap, crackle and pop!  But its also very much about the bass which growls and drives when it needs to, and bounces along when it needs to.  The collaborators add guitar, synth and organ top lines to an EP that ranges from light and funky to dark and moody, while always deep and warm.

New York City dance music institutions Nervous Records and Cielo unite once again with the March 6 release of “Cielo Sunrise” – mixed by Nicolas Matar. This compilation arrives as Cielo celebrates nine great years in NYC’s Meatpacking District. Over the years, the club has defined itself as a global dance music brand with a successful compilation series, dedication to quality music programming and superior Funktion One sound in an intimate club setting. In 2011, Cielo also became home to Nervous Records own branded music events which take place on the first Tuesday of each month.

Nicolas Matar’s musical style is very diverse, encompassing everything from Deep House, Soulful House, Nu-Jazz, Techno, to Disco Classics – and this is reflected in his gorgeous “Sunrise” mix. With tracks and remixes from Guy Gerber. DJ T, Parker Pooley, Layo & Bushwacka!, Martin Dawson & Glimpse, Humate, Vincenzo, YouANDewan, Jimpster and many more, this mix perfectly captures the programming at Cielo on any given night.

To this day, the club has never strayed from its vision of being a music-driven dance venue and over the years established itself as one of the top clubs in the world. The venue’s one-room design and sunken dancefloor provides an intimate connection between the DJ and clubber that is unparalleled. “Cielo has been a labor of love from the very beginning for all those involved. Everything we do is for the love of dance music – from the sound, hospitality, lighting, and quality of music, all are designed to provide a superior night of clubbing,” Matar says
