Miss Kittin Double Album 'Calling From The Stars'The thought-provoking first lady of techno Miss Kittin returns with the single “Life Is My Teacher” which will be made available as a free download on www.misskittin.com  (soundcloud below, download now)starting December 10, 2012. The song offers up a glimpse of Kittin’s third album, the self-produced double-CD “Calling From The Stars”, to be released on w Sphere Records on April 22, 2013.

“Life Is My Teacher” offers up all of the elements that have made Miss Kittin one of the most popular names in electronic music: simple yet evocative lyrics set to an undeniable electro-flavored techno beat. It also showcases a new side of the notoriously enigmatic Kittin, that of an artist unafraid to reveal her inner emotions and beliefs. The perfect primer for the evolved techno-pop sound that makes up disc one of the album.

Eager fans will also be treated to three more new tracks on the “Life Is My Teacher” EP, including exclusive cut “I.L.A.N.E.N.O.” and “Tamarin Bay”, both of which reflect the album’s second disc of ’90s-inspired ambient techno. DJs, meanwhile, will flock to the dark narcotic remix of “Life Is My Teacher” from Spanish hit-making duo Borderline. The EP will be available on all digital platforms on December 10, 2012.

Shades Of Gray – the duo of Czech national Michal ‘Schwa’ Ruzickaand Aussie Nick West – have been turning many heads recently with their debut album ‘Soul Machine’ and the consistent quality of theirBeef Records imprint.  They certainly turned our heads here at Lost My Dog so we got them firmly onto our leash!  Their ‘All About The Drums EP’ contains four tracks of trademark deep and funky heads-down house including 3 collaborations, with Rodney O, Pavel ORM and Antsmif.

As the EP title suggests it’s all about the drums, and boy do they thump, snap, crackle and pop!  But its also very much about the bass which growls and drives when it needs to, and bounces along when it needs to.  The collaborators add guitar, synth and organ top lines to an EP that ranges from light and funky to dark and moody, while always deep and warm.

Release date: Dec 5, 2011

After 18 months of intense work in the studio Shades of Grayemerge with their debut album ‘Soul Machine’.  The duo of Michal Schwa and Nick West have progressively established themselves over the years producing consistently solid tracks and remixes for labels such as Neurotraxx Deluxe, Om Records, Salted Music, Dark Energy, Tronicsole and of course their home label Beef Records on which ‘Soul Machine’ is released.

Released as a 2 CD set, vinyl and digital download, ‘Soul Machine’includes 11 original tracks and 11 remixes from an all-star cast including veterans The Timewriter, Jef K & Gwen Maze, Soul Minority, Fiord and Lexy (Lexy & K-Paul) as well as some of the hottest emerging producers such as Peter Horrevorts, Steve Ward, Uone, LuRob and Londonground.

Shades Of Gray was born following Czech national Schwa’s move to Australia in 2005.  He soon teamed up with local Nick West both in the studio and as a partner in Beef Records. They quickly gained a reputation as one of the hottest acts on the Sydney underground scene and it wasn’t long until they were touring internationally performing from Tokyo to Moscow and Paris to Prague.  With support from the likes of Shur-I-Kan, Miss Kittin, Jimpster, Pezzner, Laurent Garnier and Miguel Migs, SOG have clocked up over 50 releases including the sales chart topping ‘Moog in the House’.

The album is a definite progression for SOG, heading deeper into sampling territory and drawing on what’s come before to define their vision of the future sound of house music.  Reinterpreting influences from soul to disco through the sharpened lens of 2012 production, SOG have delivered a stunning collection of tunes that have that instant classic feel that will remain relevant for years to come.

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , on March 29, 2011 by E.N.

In response to the recent disaster in Japan, we are supporting a newly launched website called ‘SOUL AID: music for japan’

URL: http://soulaid.org

It’s a simple platform to share music donated by artists along with their personal message for FREE. The main objective is to cheer up and give mental or spiritual support to Japanese music fans by delivering them sincere thoughts and music from some of their favourite artists.

Our secondary objective is to call members of the music community around the world for donations, to make a small financial contribution to the relief efforts for the most needed. All proceeds will be donated to a Japanese emergency relief organization called Civic Force, who are currently operating in Kesennuma city.

We have 8 tracks, kindly provided by Thomas Fehlmann, Alexkid, International Feel, Nico Purman, Barker & Baumecker, Charles Webster, DJ Cosmo and Miss Kittin,
posted now. Many more will follow.
More information about this project, music and donation can be found on the additional pages on the website.
