New York-based electronic musician Com Truise has made a playful romp of synth beats from out of this galaxy on his remix of the new Stars track “Hold On When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It”
A Canadian indie pop establishment, Stars have worked together for over a decade carefully crafting music that intertwines layers containing delicate pop melodies and electronic effervescence not unlike fellow Canadians Metric and Broken Social Scene.
On their most recent album The North, all of the twelve original tracks featured significant input from all of the band members. “This is the five of us attacking each song and turning it into something that is all of ours,” says Amy Millan, who shares lead vocals with bandleader Torquil Campbell.
Multifaceted British imprint Underground Audio came out all guns blazing recently, with their debut release, Underground Fables Volume 1, proving they mean business. Their latest record comes courtesy of the equally fledgling Soul Button, with the German producer turning in the magnificent In My Stride alongside esteemed Irish vocalist Stee Downes.
Deep and colourful, the original’s lackadaisical flow and cosmic-sounding hues prove the perfect backdrop for Downes’ meandering, soul-enriched vocals. Delicate, playful and infused with a rich Balearic edge, it’s also a record that neatly coincides with the impending Ibiza season.
The record’s cosmopolitan edge is then cranked up a further gear courtesy of Romanian producer, Atapy. He handles the original in a vein that’s indicative of his own enhancing reputation, with an initially stripped-back feel bolstered by a series of clever chords and a sun-kissed bassline.
Habischmann leads the original to a more subtle place soon after, as he allows Downes’ striking vocals extra breathing space with his waif-like interpretation, before Sasch BBC & Caspar culminate proceedings with a percussion-laced, groove-soaked anthem that makes canny use of a rising underbelly of astute synths.
A soulful EP with something for everyone, In My Stride is sure to ignite dancefloors aplenty come summer time.

There once was a scene up in Boston, where things weren´t nearly so awesome. So the kids went to Cambridge where people have knowledge and there the dance music did blossom!
Five years after our infamous Dancing on the Charles outdoor parties helped put Boston on the dance music map and launched our careers into the stratosphere, we’re returning to our roots on the banks of the Charles River. Soul Clap presents: Dancing On The Charles is a part of the Boston dance music story that shines a spotlight on our hometown and unearths some incredible talent. Born from the same spirit and philosophy that has so powerfully shaped our DJ sets, this is a musically diverse compilation of artists held together by geography representing the wide spectrum found in our hometown.
Some of these song we´ve been collecting for years and have become secret weapons in our DJ sets. Bon Johnson’s ‘From The Heart’, was written way back in 2007 and we included on our XLR8R Boston podcast in 2010. The mysterious ‘I Want Your Love’ (written by an anonymous Boston based artist) was passed to us by our friend Benoit Simon (Benoit & Sergio). Curbington Digital’s ‘So Fresh’ was written a few years back by a high school friend who we used to play hip-hop parties with back in the day. There´s even a remix of a band called Mystery Roar that we did around the birth of the EFUNK sound, we´ve loved this one forever but the label never released it… luckily, now it’s ours!
Then there’s jams from up and coming Boston artists who have been building their international reputation over the last couple years like John Barera whose vinyl only cuts released as B-Tracks with Soren Jahan have caught the attention of the Berlin underground, even scoring them a gig at Panorama Bar. Chas Bronz, who does it again after writing one of our favorite jams of 2012 ‘Renegades Of New Age Funk’ (sounds about right). Our mentor, DJ Kon, who links up with Bosq (his partner in their Nitetime moniker and has an amazing solo album dropping on Ubiquity later this year) for a stellar remix of disco legend Matthew Larkin Cassell. Finally, we wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t unearth some fresh new talent likeRoldy Cezaire who debuted with us on EFUNK: The Album, Clifflight who may be the future of electro-pop and Caserta aka Joey C, a gifted Boston DJ who has a knack for making classic sounding deep4life house music. WHEW!
All in all we´re so proud of this compilation and all of the talented musicians that made it come alive. Thank you all for showing the world there´s more to Boston than the Red Sox and Dunkin Donuts!

Canadian-born, NYC-based songstress Kim Boekbinder performs under the moniker The Impossible Girl, crafting lush, genre-defying songs that fuse elements of electronic and acoustic music. A performer, composer, and visual artist, Boekbinder made headlines in 2010 when she successfully funded her debut LP via Kickstarter and went on to pre-sell her US tour using the fundraising platform. Having built a loyal and enthusiastic following over the past few years, The Impossible Girl is back with her second fan-funded solo album, The Sky Is Calling, a celebration of humans in space. Produced by Joel Hamilton (The Black Keys, Tom Waits, Pretty Lights), the cosmic album will be released on June 21st, and is now available for pre-order here.
Opening the album with an infectious electric energy, “Stellar Alchemist” is driven by a whirlwind of instrumentation swirling above heavy, driving percussion. For a sneak peek into Boekbinder’s world, you can download the “Stellar Alchemist” MP3
The Sky Is Calling launches listeners into the stratosphere with captivating pop songs that are packed with scientific themes and otherworldly sounds. Boekbinder utilizes instruments ranging from synthesizers and drum pads to hammer dulcimer and mbira to bring her audience on an epic journey through time and space. Album track “Fix You Good” has all the elements of a dance floor banger, with buzzing synths, an impossibly catchy melody, and a beat that begs you to move. Title track “The Sky is Calling” showcases Boekbinder’s sweet but commanding vocals above dense layers of instrumentation and reverberating vocal harmonies. “Hand To Mouth” is a shimmering slower cut with a melancholic tone that captures the cold, dark loneliness of outer space, while “Alien” does its title justice with a haunting, otherworldly quality that stays with you long after the song ends.
A collection of unique and diverse tracks that explore the vast world around us, The Sky Is Calling has the ability to transport listeners to a place full of mystery and adventure.
