Orphans STHLM – Jeet Kune Do EP(Stream)

When house music-scholars began to analyze the concept of “groove” in the 18th century, the complex algorithms constructed for the understanding of rhythmic patterning led them to a strange set of letters almost every time – “Orphans STHLM” was always the result of their calculation.

Nowadays, as scientists are occupied with the hard task of defining feel and intuitive sense of this very cycle in motion that emerges from carefully aligned concurrent rhythmic patterns, they pretty much all share the conception that this duo called “The Orphans” have made a sort of “time-travel of the mind”.

This happening as a consequence of the two constructing a groove so pure that it actually cancels out the rules of physics, creating a time and space boomerang-effect of sorts, with the final result being a drastic effect on our conception of the holy groove. We might even claim that we would not know of this, the groove, where it not for the Orphans.

So, unequaled, unparalleled and unmatched. Bruce Lee on a deep house-production, a man hits a coyote, Chicago revisited through a delirious mantra. No, it is not Luis Buñuel turned DJ, it’s the obvious genious of Andy Lindman and Kasper Nowakowski back to bless us with unique house music.

Orphans STHLM & Sticky Stockholm – Guns & Ammo EP(Stream)

Ying and Yang, Guns and Ammo, Donuts and Cucumber. Going all out and staying mellow at the same time. Time and space, rat poison and sugar. This is music telling a story – one of contrast and similarity. It’s also the vain effort to design a weapon with music.

It should make you feel like a loaded gun packed with joy.

Orphans STHLM and Sticky Stockholm produce their second co-op EP together, making heavy use of equipement like legal streaming services of the latest sports, chilled Pale Ales in bottles, the old old iPad, classy keys and a couple of laptops. Replaying each others carefully played synths, revisiting their beloved Korgs, the result is without any surprise: excellent.

Smörgåsbord (Swedish: [ˈsmœrɡɔsˌbuːɖ]) is a type of Scandinavian meal/concept served buffet-style with multiple dishes of various foods on a table. (In Norway it is called koldtbord, in Denmark it is called det kolde bord, in Finland seisova pöytä, in Iceland it is called hlaðborð and in Estonia rootsi laud – but that’s just weird/wrong – let’s stick to Smorgasbord).

Smörgåsbord became internationally known as “Smorgasbord” at the 1939 New York World’s Fair when it was offered at the Swedish Pavilion’s “Three Crowns Restaurant.” It is typically a celebratory meal and guests can help themselves from a range of dishes laid out for their choice.

In a restaurant, the term refers to a buffet-style table laid out with many small dishes from which, for a fixed amount of money, one is allowed to choose as many as one wishes.

Delicious!
