Cleveland born, songwriter/performer Joshua Radin announces his upcoming SELF – RELEASED LP Wax Wings, coming May 7, 2013. The label favorite chose to independently release his fifth studio album. Radin has sold more than 1.5 million singles, half a million albums and has over 75 songs placements in film and TV.

The title Wax Wings comes from Greek Mythology and the story of Icarus and his attempt to escape from Crete (the largest of the Greek Islands) by means of wings that his craftsman father constructed from solely feathers and wax. Icarus ignored instructions not to fly too close to the sun, and in the process came too close, which melted the wax. The melting wax caused him to fall into the sea where he drowned which today bears his name, the Icarian Sea. Radin followed the same path of flight with this album… letting curiosity guide his path in order to conquer the sky.

“this album is the story of a romance; but there’s no beginning and no end. it’s more circular than linear. often, in my past songs, i’ve referred to my love as the sun. i flew too close to that sun on wings made of wax, and when they melted, i fell, over and over again.”

Texas - The ConversationBRAND NEW ALBUM RELEASED MAY 20TH 2013

SINGLE RELEASED MAY 13TH 2013

LIVE SHOWS GLASGOW, LONDON & PARIS

In their 25th anniversary year TEXAS release their brand new studio album‘The Conversation’ through [PIAS] on May 20th 2013. The album will be preceded by the single also called ‘The Conversation’ on May 13th.

Texas’s eighth album, ‘The Conversation’ is their first in eight years and is the latest in a career that has seen the band sell over 30 million albums worldwide with a succession of multi-platinum albums ‘White on Blonde’, ‘The Hush’ and ‘Greatest Hits’. This overdue return in 2013 clearly redefines and confidently re-introduces the band afresh with tracks written and produced by singer/guitarist Sharleen Spiteri and bassist Johnny McElhone and featuring collaborations with singer-songwriter Richard Hawley and Bernard Butler.

‘The Conversation’ is an album splitting its seams with the joy of a long-proven pop force creating a collection of songs rich enough in melody and emotion to deserve filing beside the best of the band’s previous million-selling hits. The album was recorded in Glasgow, London and at Richard Hawley’s studio in Sheffield where the seven tracks he worked on went on to form the backbone of ‘The Conversation’: a perfect marriage of Hawley’s 50s rock’n’roll frills and the timeless Texas magnetism to cast-iron melodies.

Texas will launch the album with three live shows in Glasgow, London and Paris, full details tba.

Caveman premiere “In The City” from new album Caveman

CAVEMAN Announce New Album CAVEMAN Out 4/2 via Fat Possum Records

Caveman-Caveman-art

31 City North American Headline Tour Starts 2/26: Including SXSW and Homecoming New York show at Webster Hall on 4/10

On their self-titled sophomore album Caveman stretch their legs in a number of different, albeit cohesive, directions. Their highly anticipated return will come out in America via Fat Possum Records on April 2nd, and the first single “In The City”

Caveman—a five-man vibe collective from NYC—released their first album in 2011. As first albums go, CoCo Beware was something akin to a moody statement of intent, a blueprint for a band quickly learning how to create horizon-wide rock songs that were equal parts intimate and expansive. Initially self-released and later snatched up by Fat Possum for re-release in early 2012, the record brims over with four-part harmonies, crystalline guitar lines, and tracks that see-sawed between echoey lullaby (“A Country’s King of Dreams”) to shoegaze-by-way-of classic-FM-radio sprawl (“Old Friend”). The album quickly elevated Caveman from local band to watch to a sizable touring draw and formidable live act, as evidenced by stints on the road with the likes of The War on Drugs, White Rabbits and Built to Spill. Despite being the work of a brand new band, CoCo Beware displayed a kind of Zen-like ease. It was the sound a five friends settling into a nice groove; the music that happens when, for whatever reason, a lot of seemingly disparate elements finally fall into place.

“We all went up to Jimmy’s grandmother’s place in New Hampshire,” says singer Matthew Iwanusa. “That’s where the new record kind of started. It was literally the attic of her barn, lit up by Christmas lights. We’d all sit in this one room together and one by one we’d all go into the bathroom and record ourselves making the most psycho noises possible. It actually felt kind of like a weird breakthrough. We were all confident and comfortable enough with each other to try out these experiments, which extended itself into the making of the new record…which is really just an evolution of this vibe that we’d been cultivating for long time.”

With that, the guys holed up in Brooklyn’s Rumpus Room to start recording in earnest withNick Stumpf (who produced the band’s debut album) and Albert Di Fiore behind the controls. The album is a kind of sonic microcosm—a series of emotional yet tough mini-narratives operating within the same quixotic musical universe.

As a result, the guitars on Caveman are bigger and more expansive, the rhythm section is tighter and more adventurous, the keyboards more opaque and pronounced. Like a marriage between Tangerine Dream, late period Slowdive, and Lindsey Buckingham, tracks like their new single “In the City” and “Ankles” boast synth lines that sound simultaneously retro and futuristic, while “Pricey” and “Never Want to Know” overflow with guitar sounds that could have miraculously floated off an old Cure album. It should be noted that James Carbonetti, the band’s primary guitar player, also happens to be one of the most highly regarded guitar makers in New York City.

And while Caveman’s music could certainly operate on the level of dreamy soundscape and still be excellent, the depth of feeling in front man Matthew Iwanusa’s lyrics helps weave the songs deeply into your memory. When Iwanusa sings Where’s the time to waste on someone else’s life? on “Where’s the Time,” it’s hard not to read between the lines. Wonder and regret seem to fuel the record in almost equal measure.

Herbert Groenemeyer – I Walk (February 19, 2013)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on November 15, 2012 by E.N.

GERMAN SUPERSTAR HERBERT GROENEMEYER TO RELEASE ENGLISH-LANGUAGE DEBUT ALBUM “I WALK”
Public Television Concert Special Airs in December 2012 and January 2013
February 19, 2013 Album Release to Coincide with Select American Tour Dates
Over the course of the past three decades, Herbert Groenemeyer has established himself as Germany’s most successful recording artist of all time, with album sales surpassing 18 million copies, and two of his albums, 1984’s 4630 Bochum and 2002’s Mensch, becoming the biggest German-language releases in history. But for audiences in the United States — and, in fact, to the English-speaking world at large — his forthcoming album I Walk will be an introduction to an artist whose music is fervent, personal and passionate.
For this album, which will be released on February 19, 2013 on Groenland Deutschland/EMI Label Services, Groenemeyer has recorded some of the most impressive songs in his vast catalog in English, and written two new songs. On the album’s lead-off track, “Mensch,” Groenemeyer is joined on vocals by Bono, one of the special guests on the album, along with Antony Hegarty of Antony and The Johnsons on the dramatic “Will I Ever Learn” (“When he started singing, my skin went up,” Groenemeyer recalls) and guitarist James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers on “To The Sea.”
Coinciding with the February release of I Walk will be American concerts in New York and Chicago and a public television special will air in those markets during pledge weeks in December 2012 and again in January 2013. In December, the special will air on New York’s WLIW on December 3 (9:30 p.m.) and again on December 8 (8:00 p.m.) and on Chicago’s WTTW on December 9 (8:00 p.m.). January airing will be announced shortly.
As one writer put it, Herbert Groenemeyer is “the biggest selling artist you’ve never heard of.”  Before he embarked on a musical career, he was seen on film screens in the breakout German film Das Boot, and more recently (2007), he was in the Anton Corbijn film Control. In 2010, he wrote the evocative score for Corbijn’s arresting film The American starring George Clooney. But those intermittent appearances on the U.S. cultural radar are footnotes in the context of his musical career in Germany beginning with the 1984 release of 4630 Bochum. That album topped the German charts, quickly becoming the country’s third biggest-selling album of all time.
Over the course of the next fifteen years, his music became more political, addressing the Kohl government’s policies, and the impact from the fall of the Berlin Wall. 1993’s Chaoswent to number one, and on his tour that year he played to well over a half-million fans. The next year, he became the first non-English-singing artist invited by MTV to do anUnplugged concert. Almost a decade later, in 2002, came his most successful release yet, Mensch, an album that without exaggeration could be called the Thriller of Germany, with advance orders well over platinum, and sales now exceeding three million copies, more than any album in the country’s history.  Groenemeyer regularly presents concert tours in stadiums in the German speaking territories and other European markets.
Working on an English-language album, Groenemeyer says, was less about dissatisfaction with his status outside the German-speaking world than about the challenge, the opportunity for self-discovery. “I have to find my own challenges,” he says. “This is one of those moments where I think, ‘OK, let’s try it.’ So let’s start here and see what happens. I try to reinvent what I’m doing in my limited way. And that’s the fun. That’s my joy. This is what I can do.”

Mika Announces New Album, Listen to lead single “Celebrate”

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on June 17, 2012 by E.N.

NEW ALBUM: THE ORIGIN OF LOVE– OUT THIS FALL

FEATURING COLLABORATIONS WITH PHARRELL WILLIAMS,
EMPIRE OF THE SUN, BENNY BENASSI, WILLIAM ORBIT

MIKA has announced his new album The Origin of Love, due out on Universal Republic this fall. Following up his multi-million selling worldwide smash ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’ (which debuted in every single iTunes top ten around the world), The Origin of Love is Mika’s third album and will be preceded by an EP this summer.  The anthemic brand new single “Celebrate” is an epic slice of cool modern pop destined to be a global summer soundtrack, written by Mika, produced by Nick Littlemore from Empire of the Sun and featuring Pharrell Williams on vocals.

Completely self-created and self-imagined, The Origin of Love has been a two-year DIY labour of love for Mika who has put together everything on the record himself, flying around the world under his own steam personally assembling an incredible roll call of collaborators – in addition to Nick Littlemore and Pharrell Williams Mika has also worked with William Orbit, Benny Benassi, FrYars, Greg Wells (Katy Perry, Adele), Klas Ahlund (Robyn’s Body Talk) as well as working with some brand new unsigned musicians he found himself online.

“This single is what happens when you combine a 22 year old you find online, Fryars, with an extra-planetary Nick Littlemore and Pharrell Williams!” says Mika of ‘Celebrate’“Written by me, Pharrell and Fryars and produced by Nick, this kind of collaboration is only possible when everyone throws themselves into it wanting to have fun and without any ego. This collective and open attitude was at the heart of ‘The Origin Of Love’. It’s an album about crazy love songs and tolerance. It was recorded in Miami and London but mostly in Fryars’ north London bedroom studio!”
