Upcoming London producer James Dexter joins the Lost My Dog ranks with a four tracker taking in slow-burning deep groovers through to bumping, funked-up cuts. His ‘System Check EP’ is a perfect representation of the sound LMD has pushed over the past eight years and another example of the label not being afraid to work with talented producers in the early stages of their careers.
At 25 years old Dex has already amassed a number of noteworthy releases including tracks and remixes on Om Records, Salted Music, Nervous Records, Beatdown Music and Static Audio. His remix of Miguel Migs’ single ‘Tonight’ reached the number three spot in the Traxsource Top 100, with his own single ‘Give Me Something’ on Migs’ Salted Music not far behind. He has also recently released a track on Shades Of Gray’s Beef Records and has something in the works for Large, alongside remixes for Solid Ground and Bump Trax.
Already Dex can count a number of high profile DJs as fans – Fred Everything, Moodymanc, Karol XVII & MB Valence, Evren Ulusoy, Giom, CJ Mackintosh, Dale Howard and several more are all supporters of his music.

Shades Of Gray – the duo of Czech national Michal ‘Schwa’ Ruzickaand Aussie Nick West – have been turning many heads recently with their debut album ‘Soul Machine’ and the consistent quality of theirBeef Records imprint. They certainly turned our heads here at Lost My Dog so we got them firmly onto our leash! Their ‘All About The Drums EP’ contains four tracks of trademark deep and funky heads-down house including 3 collaborations, with Rodney O, Pavel ORM and Antsmif.
As the EP title suggests it’s all about the drums, and boy do they thump, snap, crackle and pop! But its also very much about the bass which growls and drives when it needs to, and bounces along when it needs to. The collaborators add guitar, synth and organ top lines to an EP that ranges from light and funky to dark and moody, while always deep and warm.

After 18 months of intense work in the studio Shades of Grayemerge with their debut album ‘Soul Machine’. The duo of Michal Schwa and Nick West have progressively established themselves over the years producing consistently solid tracks and remixes for labels such as Neurotraxx Deluxe, Om Records, Salted Music, Dark Energy, Tronicsole and of course their home label Beef Records on which ‘Soul Machine’ is released.

Shades Of Gray was born following Czech national Schwa’s move to Australia in 2005. He soon teamed up with local Nick West both in the studio and as a partner in Beef Records. They quickly gained a reputation as one of the hottest acts on the Sydney underground scene and it wasn’t long until they were touring internationally performing from Tokyo to Moscow and Paris to Prague. With support from the likes of Shur-I-Kan, Miss Kittin, Jimpster, Pezzner, Laurent Garnier and Miguel Migs, SOG have clocked up over 50 releases including the sales chart topping ‘Moog in the House’.
The album is a definite progression for SOG, heading deeper into sampling territory and drawing on what’s come before to define their vision of the future sound of house music. Reinterpreting influences from soul to disco through the sharpened lens of 2012 production, SOG have delivered a stunning collection of tunes that have that instant classic feel that will remain relevant for years to come.
‘Close Your Eyes’ featuring the vocals of Meshell Ndegeocello was one of the standout tracks from Miguel Migs’ new album ‘Outside The Skyline’. Here it gets the remix treatment from an all-star cast featuring Deetron, Osunlade, Uner, Shades Of Gray, Dutchican Soul & Dave Mayer, Alex Gomez & Oriol Calvo, Woolfy and Salva.
Just one of several high profile collaborators on ‘Outside The Skyline’, Meshell Ndegeocello has an illustrious career including 10 Grammy nominations, countless film score appearances, a no. 1 record covering Bill Withers and collaborations with the likes of Basement Jaxx, Indigo Girls and The Blind Boys of Alabama. She even played bass on albums recorded by The Rolling Stones and Alanis Morissette.
Miguel Migs has emerged from San Francisco’s deep house scene as an artist who transcends the stylistic limitations of genre in a way so very few have managed. In his own words, “I take inspiration from everything around me. Its not about trends or what’s fashionable, its about creative expression, quality, emotion and artistic integrity.”
