Elijah & Skilliam Mix FABRICLIVE 75

Elijah & Skilliam are arguably the foremost ambassadors of grime. Having taken a scrupulous and avant-garde approach to the genre’s output, they have helped raise it to the forefront of the electronic music landscape. Their celebrated Rinse FM show has been representing the best of the scene for 5+ years. Their club nights were some of the first to focus on the talents of the producers, when at the time parties were more about the MCs. Officially returning with a bang last year, their FABRICLIVE residency has brought grime back to the clubs in a big way.

The mix doesn’t necessarily represent how we would play in the club, but it does feature many of the people that you would hear and see playing at a Butterz night at fabric. It was more focused on making a great mix. If you want to hear how we play in a club, come to fabric.” - Elijah & Skilliam

FABRICLIVE 75: Elijah & Skilliam will be out 19th May 2014.Preorder

Psycatron – Memories Of The Moment (preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 5, 2011 by E.N.

Those of you who remember Psycatron’s stunning remix of Mutant Clan’s ‘Persuader’ from John Digweed’s first ‘Structures’ album, or the brilliant ‘Vertigo In The Modern’ (Beddigi08) with Sian, will no doubt be chomping at the bit to get your ears around this brand new single. This is HOT!!!!!
Psycatron, aka Northern Irish duo Paul Hamill & Dave Oost Lievense, produce 21st century techno with tracks that combine relentless energy and groove with bundles of emotion and tension, to make for an all-encompassing sound that is perfect for those big arenas and club rooms. Their Original Mix with its energetic, melodic, percussive groove backbone mounted on a deep, throbbing bassline, builds a drawn out brooding vibe towards an ecstatic mid-way climax before layering and building in pure, intense Psycatron style.
‘Memories Of The Moment’ has been the biggest track of the summer for Psycatron in their live sets, so you may have heard it already at the I Love Techno Festival, Global Gathering, Klubbers Day Madrid, Fabric, Berghain, Oxygen Ireland, Astrolopolis France, Baracca Valencia, The Loft Barcelona, or on their multiple dates on the Planet E 20th World Tour.
Between them, John Digweed and Nick Muir, producers of the finest electronic dance music, have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music over the years and have in many ways helped to define genres & push the boundaries further. As with all their studio productions their remix of ‘Memories Of The Moment’ is another mission statement to show that they are not resting on past laurels but always developing their sound in an exciting direction. It’s a spine-tingling, fizzing, spiralling, anthemic monster that will be huge worldwide.
Remixes for Spooky, Simian Mobile Disco and Vince Watson have all been Psycatron highlights already this year, and a single with Paul Woolford for HotFlush received critical acclaim. New singles are on the way alongside Sian and Detroit Grand Pubahs, whilst the boys are currently locked down in their studio, working on the first Psycatron long-player for release in 2012. In the meantime you can tune into their fortnightly Electric Avenue radio show on Proton, which already has 20k subscribers.

Psycatron – Memories of the Moment ( John Digweed & Nick Muir remix)

Psycatron’s high profile productions have been popping up on some of the world’s most respected labels, receiving props from some of the biggest names in the business and record sales flying high in the Beatport charts. Fergie (Rekluse), Carl Craig (Planet E), Christian Smith (Tronic), Will Saul (Simple), legendary Belgian label R&S Records, have all featured stunning Psycatron tracks, so it seems fitting that they have now linked up with Bedrock Records again to end the year in style.

“These guys are fantastic, definitely a name to look out for” – John Digweed
“I LOVE Psycatron” – Laurent Garnier
“Psycatron is one of the acts of the year” – Agoria

Download:Mosca -FACT mix 199 (56 tracks in 100 minutes)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 5, 2010 by E.N.

This morning’s FACT mix – the 199th episode in the series – is a marathon session from one of the most rewarding artists to emerge from the UK this year, Mosca.

Picked as one of our producers to watch back in January, Mosca opened 2010 with the first release on Night Slugs (‘Square One’, backed with the epic ‘Nike’), and one of the highlights of Fabric’s Elevator Music compilation in ‘Gold Bricks, I See You’. A propulsive remix of Four Tet followed, along with hip-hop tempo neck-snapper ‘Tilt Shift’ (forthcoming on Fat City), and listeners to his or Jackmaster’s recent sets will have already heard ‘Got Me Wrong’, a Niche-indebted rush that’s so larger-than-life it reloads itself. Seriously.

The best thing about Mosca’s discography so far is that none of these tunes sound particularly alike; whereas many producers are happy to make their name with a distinctive sound and then milk it for all its worth, Mosca’s already proved hard to pin down after a year on the radar. This week sees the release of one of his most satisfying productions to date, his remix of T. Williams and Terri Walker’s ‘Heartbeat’, which combines lounge house flavours with broken beat, a cut-up vocal climax and an outrageously fat bassline.

To celebrate, he’s worked overtime on this FACT mix, a dizzying 56-tracks-in-100-minutes affair which spans juke, jungle, hip-hop, dancehall, grime, techno and bassline, with new tracks from Pearson Sound, Jay Weed, Spooky and Girl Unit as well as himself.
