Mr C_Sounds Like Alola Vol 3_Artwork20 Years Of Alola – A Summer Of Celebrations

When I started ALOLA back in 1993 with £500 I’d borrowed from my dad, it was an outlet to release my own music and slowly, music by like-minded artists whom I admired… After 20 years it’s time for the past, present and future to fall in sync.” – Omid 16B

The re-mastered back catalogue will be available for the first time at all digital stores, alongside the label’s latest releases. This is a process that started two years ago when the first two instalments of Alola’s past, present and future were carefully handpicked and mixed to perfection by Omid 16B and Demi. Now, Mr C (who was the honoured guest at the first 20 Years Of Alola party in London recently) presents his favourite label selections.

“Alola was a seminal deep house label that broke down the divisions between house & techno with a depth that was and still is extremely hard to parallel.” – Mr C

“Mr C was one of my mentors who introduced me to Ibiza back in in ‘99, we did the first DJ Mag ‘Face Off’ CD together, where we played a DJ set back-to-back and since then we’ve been of best friends. I signed Mr C to both Alola and SexOnWax, which led to some great singles and EPs together. I’ve always loved the fact that he has such a wide musical range and is totally from the old school but keeps pushing fresh new music with his unique vinyl only style mixing. That’s why it was an honour for us to have such a master select and mix his favourite tracks from Alola’s history on vinyl and he did it all LIVE to captures the true vibe.” – Omid 16B

At a carefully considered, steady rate, the precious Alola 12” vinyl back catalogue is in the process of being re-mastered and introduced to the digital world, alongside new material from the label. It would be pointless to just throw it all out at once – this is music to be savoured! In a disposable world this is timeless music to be treasured for a long, long time.

Omid’s desire to present so many years of music in a coherent way led to the decision to release a series of mix compilations, combining forgotten back catalogue classics with unreleased material by Alola artists, to add something fresh to the whole concept. Omid has approached some of his favourite DJs who have had some affiliation with the label and some who were part of the label, to contribute. Now, Mr C provides the next in a series of glimpses into the label’s historic brilliance.

Chris-Gavin---Nice-ViewL-System is proud to announce it’s third release Nice View by DJ, producer and all around ladies man, Chris Gavin! Chris hails from Marseille, France and is often supported by DJs such as Laurent Garnier, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and more. This release kicks off with Nice View; a cross genre hard to pin gem that you can drop peak time or early night with killer results. Chris follows up with a B-Side track called The Present M. We fell in love with this deep quirky house track at first listen. A truly unique journey that takes you far away while still being dance floor ready.

We’re extremely excited to have to two accomplished and amazing producers on remix duties.

To start things off we have Omid 16b who has reworked Nice View into two absolute masterpieces. Over at L-System we’re a huge fan of Omid 16b’s sound and sought him out for the unique sound he’s famous for world over. Omid’s first mix is filled with upbeat melodic synths mixed in with driving classic drum machine sounds that mix with any house genre. His remix reprise is the ultimate set starter that takes a turn to the dark side halfway through.

Next we have Martin Roth remixing Nice View into a deep house track that strongly carries his signature sound. Slow driving synths and pads drive this unique dance track that keeps the vibe up while still delivering the underground smoothness that Martin knows best.

Joss Moog -Late Nite Beats(Album)14th June via Robsoul Recordings(Preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 10, 2013 by E.N.

Joss Moog Late Nite BeatsJoss Moog releases his debut album ‘Late Nite Beats’ on 14th June through Phil Weeks’ Robsoul Recordings. The Parisian has impressed with his releases on Robsoul since 2006, beginning with the much sought-after Room 25 EP, and has subsequently built up a discography including music for Magnetic, Maracuja, Kinjo, Exprezoo, Minority and Synchrophone.

Late Nite Beats showcases Moog’s skill at blending live instrumentation with soul-filled samples and beats from the vintage house boxes — it’s deep and musical, intricately crafted, but with more than enough bite to bump the dance floor, as tracks like Late Nite Beat, Mama Hold My Hand and Call Me testify. Moog’s love of funk and soul are in heavy evidence, with numerous departures from House on the tracks including Childhood Fancy, Last Chapter and Sweet Mary.  And there’s a clear French touch, with Which Flavour, That Woman and Second Chance delivering late 90′s styled filtered grooves that Daft Punk et al would be proud of.

A recently released four-track album sampler drew DJ support from a varied group of established players and current hot names — Rolando, Danny Howells, Kraak & Smaak, Radio 1′s Mosca, Gramophonedzie, Giom, Noir, Rolando, Moodymanc, Jimpster, Robert Owens, Diesel (X-Press 2), Mousse T, Ramon Tapia and Reboot just the tip of the iceberg.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – ‘Get Lost VI’ (Crosstown Rebels)July 8th

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 10, 2013 by E.N.

TEED-GETLOST-Totally Enormous Extinct DinosaursCrosstown Rebels infamous Get Lost series returns with a new episode delving into the more obscure and rare choices from the award-winning crossover dance act and old friend of the label, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Get Lost VI is a double disc compilation full of rarities and cutting edge house and techno carefully chosen and collated by TEED aka Orlando Higginbottom, including a new exclusive track made by him together with Eats Everything that will be released as a single on the label.

Crosstown Rebels’ seminal Get Lost series has previously featured quirky artists and musical hedonists Jamie Jones, Acid Pauli, Dinky and the label head Damian Lazarus. Each episode invites the artist to share new insights into their musical personality and indulge in their more distinctive and eccentric choices. Get Lost is also a renowned series of global events. “I couldn´t think of a better home for my first dj comp mix or whatever they´re called, Get Lost is a brilliant series with an intriguing past (and future). I´m very grateful to Damian and Crosstown Rebels for the opportunity, and excited for people to hear it,” comments TEED.

The eclectic first disc showcases the likes of Gold Panda, LFO and rare solo work from Art Department’s Kenny Glasgow as well as subtle additions such as a fascinating monologue from the notorious psychedelic scholarTerence McKenna. Whilst disc two returns to the dancefloor driven that TEED has become infamous for including a huge Breach remix of Jamie JonesAme rework of Tiga and heavyweight meeting of Subb-an & Tom Trago featuring Seth Troxler. The culmination of both hours makes for a timeless asset of electronic mastery available on CD, on vinyl and digitally.crosstown

“The Get Lost album project is a very special one for me and demands the most forward thinking artists to take on. TEED proved with his debut album that he is an electronic visionary and now he shows us the inside of his mind as a DJ – we all need to take note at this double album of brilliance.” Damian Lazarus

Stimming new album Stimming June 3rd

DIYNAMICCD10-STIMMINGDiynamic Music pick up the pace following the standout artist album from David August with the full self-titled album by Stimming.

‘Stimming’ is like a story, told by the maker and his music. Listening to this album sends you drifting off into another world, filled with extravagant characters and thoughts, blossoming ideas and suspenseful moments.

“Naked feet walking on sand/Gently senses awake”

The story begins pacing through the snowy white sand; seagulls chirp and a steady bass emerges as waves crash onto a beach; these natural recordings produce a dream-like state and leave you temporarily forlorn in the sounds of Stimming.

His new album was born in this very state of mind, on the beaches of the Baltic Sea, during a five-week retreat from reality in the winter of 2012. The contrast of traditional and modern, of colourful yet sinister, of classic but still innovative compositions creates a beautiful musical juxtaposition.

These delicate controversies are mirrored from the music into the artwork: bright waves surrounded by dark skies, a beautiful and enchanting cherry blossom placed upon two black, headless pigeons, bringing together somewhatdisconnected elements. These pigeons are the main theme of the track “Die Taube auf dem Dach”, a track that communicates the hope and dream of freedom while “Die Mächtigen” is an anger-filled statement about the hidden demons of the financial  industry that influence the world’s daily life for the sake of profit.

The album’s third track “Ferdinand” centres around Spanish guitar and tactile vocals by singer Urzula Amen, emerging elegantly into multi layered harmonies accompanied by enchanting synthesizer sounds. Amen also appears on “From One Cell” – a light, sizzling and soulful interpretation of modern house music.

Stimming implants clever connections in between the tracks such as the graceful piano playing of “Cherry Bud” that re-emerges in the later track “Cherry Blossom”, full of life and opulence. Marrying classical elements with modern production methods is his forte, such as on “Dylan’s Theme”, where strings (played by Dylan Naylor) and bass frivolously dance together.

“The pigeon on the roof/ my freedom in my hand”

Felipe Valenzuela, Pier Bucci & A Guy Called Gerald – Mas

Felipe Valenzuela, Pier Bucci & A Guy Called Gerald - MasAndrea Appolloni’s Room 9 label is back with a fantastic new EP from Chilean producers Felipe Valenzuela and Pier Bucci, supported by the touches of former acid house producer A Guy Called Gerald.

This is Felipe Valenzuela’s second EP for Room 9. A producer with a superb reputation for producing quality house (mixed with his own, trademark South American vibes), Valenzuela’s releases and remixes have turned up on Cadenza, Melisma and Metroline Ltd.

Pier Bucci’s sound is a personal blend of lush, colorful melodies, wrapped inside elegant techno, all tied together with a Latin twist. Together, they make quite the pair. A Guy Called Gerald’s touch further increases the quality of the EP, thanks in no small part to his refined tastes, a gateway sound between house and techno that incorporates aspects of both Chicago House and Detroit Techno.

Ocurrencias”, by Pier and Felipe, is a groover of a track that’s characterised by lots of organic elements and powerful percussion that progresses into a wave of acid naughtiness.

ACGC worked with the aforementioned Chileans in order to realize the track ”Mas” – a perfect combination of the artist’s styles, with deep, acid haunting synths creating an impressive crescendo that drives the sophisticated melodies and keeps the emotions in check.
