SQUAREPUSHER REVEALS FULL LINE-UP FOR MARCH ROUNDHOUSE SHOW
• The Bug & Factory Floor (DJ’s) To Join Squarepusher On March 30th
With two months to go until Squarepusher unveils the latest evolution of his acclaimed ‘Ufabulum Live’ AV show, Tom Jenkinson has revealed the evening’s full line-up with special guests The Bug (ft Flowdan & Daddy Freddy) and Factory Floor (DJ Set) joining him on Saturday March 30th at the Roundhouse in Camden.
Following the critically acclaimed release of ‘Ufabulum’ on Warp Records last year Squarepusher’s new live show, an audiovisual assault featuring a synapse shorting LED display designed and programmed by himself, has wowed crowds around the world. From Sonar to LA’s Hardfest to a sold-out show at London’s Hackney Empire, it has been hailed as an “visual and audio feast that gave pretty much every other so-called AV show of recent times a thorough kicking” by Clash Magazine and “his most eye-popping set to date” by Metro.
For this very special show Squarepusher will be joined by two of the most interesting and intense acts working in electronic music today. Anyone with an interest in the more extreme ends of music will already be well acquainted with The Bug, Kevin Martin’s long running project fusing dub, dancehall, dubstep and electronica. The Bug’s music is the soundtrack to an apocalyptic soundclash and with the addition of legendary MCs Flowdan and Daddy Freddy the perfect entrée to the evening’s entertainment.
New DFA signings Factory Floor’s fusion of propulsive techno beats and Industrial synths has seen them hailed by everyone from The Quietus to DJ Mag. Here they treat us to a rare DJ set, a chance to peer inside the record collection of one of 2013’s most exciting acts ahead of their own debut album’s release.
One of the most forward thinking artists around Tom Jenkinson continues to break new boundaries with both his live and studio work. ‘Ufabulum Live’ sees Tom at the top of his powers in full control of every aspect of the night’s performance. In the incredible setting of Camden’s historic Roundhouse, witness to some of the most intense sound and light shows of the past 50 years, ‘Ufabulum Live’ should prove to be one of 2013’s must see shows.

Emancipator ‘Dusk To Dawn’+Tour

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on January 12, 2013 by E.N.

Emancipator_dusktodawnEmancipator (Doug Appling) sold out over 21 headlining shows in 2012, including venues like San Francisco’s Mezzanine, NYC’s Highline Ballroom, and Denver’s Ogden Theater, was praised by The New York Times and toured with Pretty Lights. However it is clear that 2013 will be his biggest year to date, kicking off with the release of his third album ‘Dusk To Dawn’ and a 44 date North American tour in January.

Blending lush, warm, organic electronic sounds, with hip-hop and classical Americana, might not be an easy or obvious choice, but the classically-trained Emancipator does just that, creating a natural mix of beats and melody that is all his own. On-stage, Appling performs with the violinist Ilya Goldberg, creating a dynamic and captivating live show that reinforces the fusion at the heart of Emancipator’s music.

His previous two albums ‘Soon It Will Be Cold Enough’ and ‘Safe In The Steep Cliffs’ showcased the luxuriant blend of instrumentation and drums that his rapidly growing and diverse fan-base has come to love. ‘Minor Cause’, and ‘Dusk To Dawn’, continue where Emancipator left off.

Throughout ‘Minor Cause’ Appling’s beats and piano draw you forward, before Goldberg’s beautiful strings are introduced, raising the urgency and bringing the track to its crescendo. It’s a fitting lead single, illustrating the inimitable and ever-engaging blend of beat, harmony and melody that underpin Emancipator’s music.

‘Minor Cause’ will be accompanied by a music video shot in the breathtaking Oregon forest, Appling’s home state, directed by adventure photographer, Ben Moon.

Dusk To Dawn will be released on Loci Records on January 29. Minor Cause was released released on January 9.

Caveman announce new album and 30 date Spring tour

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 19, 2012 by E.N.

Tour Will Run Through SXSW, LA 3/28 and end at Webster Hall on 4/10

Caveman_PhilipDiFioreA lot has gone down in the year and a half since the men of Caveman released their debut album CoCo Beware, much of it out on the road. They played through a blackout in Dallas as a tornado tore the power lines down, hunted for crop circles in middle America, and saw first-hand the place where aliens landed in New Mexico. They visited the castles of seaside France and got lost in London more than once.

When a group goes through all that together, they’re bound to grow as a team. What’s more, while all of this was going on, each of the band’s members happened to be undergoing significant changes in his own personal life. All of this combined to produce the band’s follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album CoCo Beware, slated for release this Spring on Fat Possum Records.

Fat Possum is an independent label home to an illustrious roster including The Black Keys, Band of Horses, Wavves, Yuck, Spiritualized, The Walkmen, Smith WesternsLissie, etc.

Caveman is made up of five proud New York natives: lead singer/songwriter Matt Iwanusa, who also adds percussion and drums to the band on record and live on stage, Guitarist Jimmy “Cobra” Carbonetti, who designs his hand- made Carbonetti Instruments from scratch, drummer and native Manhattanite Stefan Marolachakis, bassist Jeff Berrall, and Sam Hopkinson synths.

Riots in the Jungle – “Like LSD in the tropical jungle of the future.” – New SKIP&DIE video

Posted in News with tags , , , on November 5, 2012 by E.N.

SKIP&DIE have just released their brand new and surreal video ‘JUNGLE RIOT.’

Mixing the look of a David Lynch home movie cut with documentary footage from South Africa, where the album was recorded, this unique and original video perfectly showcases the bands visual and sonic artistry.

In lead singer and director Cata Pirats’s words, the video is: Like LSD in the tropical jungle of the future.”

Their debut album of the same name was recorded while traveling around South Africa’s Soweto, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Guguletu, recording on the go meeting local musicians – setting up mics at the side of the road collecting sounds and ideas.  They then went to Holland to finish it off in their studio on the 10th floor of an abandoned office block overlooking central Amsterdam.

SQUAREPUSHER RELEASES “KCRW SESSION” LIVE EP
AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY
UFABULUM NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES

In celebration of his forthcoming headline North American, UK and Japanese shows, Squarepusher has released a surprise new live EP, “KCRW Session”. This excellent live session was recorded for KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and features 5 live reworks (some un-aired) from Squarepusher’s stellar 2012 release, Ufabulum.

The digital-only EP will only be available for a limited time coinciding with the run of live shows. You can get it right now exclusively at Bleep ahead of its wider digital release on the November 13th here:

“The whole session was recorded in a single take with no edits and is in keeping with the way I was performing the material in the live shows at the time. I wanted to introduce more disorder and mayhem to these pieces, and to move away from the more strictly controlled sound of the album.” - Squarepusher

Heralded for his dazzling, high-octane live shows, Squarepusher’s Ufabulum tour is an intense sensory experience of light and sound. Starting off his tour at Moog Fest he will then be joined on the road by Mount Kimbie, hitting cities on the east coast, some of which he hasn’t played in close to a decade.

“KCRW Session” EP Tracklisting:
