Following two successful Aquadrop EP’s and host of genre chart topping singles, Aquadrop now presents his debut LP, Aurora Borealis. Mixing the wobbly 2-Step he’s become renowned for along with rolling electronic anthems and dubby down tempo instrumentals, Aurora Borealis is an insight into Aquadrop’s thoughts and productions that could never be expressed over a select few single releases.Born in Milan under the name Aron Airaghi, the Italian 2-Step producer has gone on to receive support from the likes of Starkey, EL B and Mt Eden amongst others. Also featuring on radio stations including BBC Radio 1,, and gaining coverage in publications from Kmag to The Wire, Rhythm Incursions and blogs the world over. His debut single shot to the top echelons of Juno’s download chart, as has every single one of his released since, and as a result Aquadrop has continued to release with and remix for some of the most forward thinking labels. All the while gaining praise for his unique and innovative productions.

We could think of no one better to launch our series than California beatmaker, painter, rising star and Svetlana recording artist Teebs.

Teebs has been building a considerable reputation in his own quiet way.

A member of the LA-based Brainfeeder collective, he was first featured on Mary Anne Hobbs’ “Wild Angels” compilation, before releasing the collaborative Tropics EP with Jackhigh on Svetlana in April 2010.

He’s built a reputation as much as a painter as a musician, producing the artwork for The Tropics EP as well as a series of limited handpainted covers. He’s also produced commissioned artwork for a range of other artists and exhibits regularly in and around Los Angeles.

His music is distinctive in being both abstract and emotional at the same time, with an almost jazz-like ambiguity to its mood.

As of July 2010 he is currently touring the USA with Shlohmo and will release his debut album shortly on Brainfeeder’s own label.

UNKLE Release Short Film ‘Saviors & Angels’

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on July 16, 2010 by J.D.

In celebration of the release of UNKLE’s fourth-proper full-length record Where
Did The Night Fall, UNKLE is releasing the short film trilogy, ‘Saviors and Angels’.
Written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams, the film that features UNKLE songs, “Caged Bird,” “The Runaway” and “Another Night Out.”

Featured song “Caged Bird,” as well as “Natural Selection” from Where Did The Night Fall, are available for free download via

“I was asked if I would do some videos to music from their latest album and after
sitting down with James [Lavelle] and listening to it together, it was clear that every track had a really strong journey and there were definite themes that we both felt were prevalent,” says Williams. ‘Saviors and Angels’ follows the story of a passionate, young Romanian couple on their path to a better life who will do just about anything to get there.

The collaboration between Williams and UNKLE came about when Williams asked the
band to score music for his latest film, ‘Cherry Tree Lane’. “I was extremely pleased
and grateful when the final film featured some of their fantastic music.” “Working
with Paul was an amazing experience” Lavelle comments. “He’s one of most inspiring of the new generation of British directors; a true talent.” says Lavelle. Williams made his start as a feature film director with ‘London to Brighton,’ inspired by his 2001 short film ‘Royalty’. ‘London to Brighton’ premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival, winning numerous awards in the UK and overseas. The film earned Paul a nomination for The Carl Foreman Award at the 2007 BAFTAS. In 2008, Williams’ second film ‘The Cottage’ was theatrically released in the UK through Pathe and played in many festivals around the world.

UNKLE’s new album Where Did The Night Fall features fourteen tracks recorded
over the last year at various locations around the world including the band’s Surrender Sounds studio in London, Ibiza, Melbourne and Los Angeles. UNKLE Live
toured the world in 2007 and 2008 and have returned to the stage in 2010 starting
with select shows. Live show details, ticket information and upcoming tour dates are
