Meet Florrie: as traditional a musician and performer as can possibly be, but at the same time a completely new type of independent pop artist.

21 year old Florrie is a multi-talented British and box-fresh new artist ready to make her own indelible impression on 2010’s wonderfully varied musical landscape. A drummer, singer, songwriter and guitarist, Florrie is the former Xenomania house-band drummer, and has now fought her way out from behind the band to take centre stage with her own music.

July 19th sees Florrie make her release debut with “Call 911”, the lead single to be taken from the brand new Kitsuné X Ponystep compilation CD. “Call 911,” co-written with contemporary disco legend Fred Falke, sits perfectly on an ultra-cool album that fuses pop, electro, indie, disco and more, highlighting that Florrie’s music rests at the centre of an international roll-call of fantastic modern dance-pop. ‘Call 911’ also comes with mixes by Bart B More, Beataucue and His Majesty Andre.

From picking up her first pair of drumsticks at the age of seven, and first guitar at twelve, Florrie has already chalked up over 100 live shows as a drummer, as well as playing on some of the best pop records of recent years for the likes of Kylie, Girls Aloud and Pet Shop Boys. Currently unsigned, Florrie is giving away her music via her website http://florrie.com and her tracks have become a big favorite at Hype Machine.

TURBO084 Gentle Giant Remixes – Tiga Turbo 12″ Vinyl
(martyn, efdemin, mathew jonson rmxs) the latest in a series of remix 12-inches from Tiga’s 2009 album Ciao!, featuring some of the most respected and sought-after producers in dance music taking on the most respected icon in dance musi When a song means a lot to you personally, having it remixed is a lot like sending your child to undergo plastic surgery. In this case, though, it was like having the operation performed by doctors you respect as musicians. This is most likely my favorite track off Ciao!, and the response I’ve gotten from fans seems to suggest I’m not alone. They come up to me and say, “Tiga, that was an amazing game of racquetball, but the real reason I’m here is to tell you how much “Gentle Giant” means to me.” And it’s not uncommon for my sports goggles to fill up with salty blue Gatorade tears, mainly because I thought we had been playing squash. Some may claim that the remixes on this release are too diverse, that they strain the acceptable boundaries of what’s eclectic and what’s too hectic to sex with. And to that I say, “You can’t shame the Rebel, dog. You can’t even try.”

Since the beginning of the year Lauren has performed live across the UK building an ever-growing fanbase. The young American was personally invited by Paul Weller to join him on stage during his recent In Concert Radio 2 session after he had heard her debut EP The Jackson Sessions. Their duet, on the Holland Dozier Holland classic “How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You”, will be the B-side of Weller’s new single “Find The Torch/Burn The Plans” out June 14th.

Audiences will have plenty of opportunities to see Lauren performing live over the summer including festival appearances at Glastonbury and Latitude and a show with Professor Green at the Proud Gallery’s 2nd Birthday for MENCAP on June 23rd. The Professor Green date came about after the two recently met at a rehearsal studio in London, immediately hit it off and wrote and recorded a song together.

Lauren Pritchard was born and raised in Jackson, Tennessee, archetypal deep-south small town USA. She’d always sung and played piano from an early age and when she reached her teens felt the need to move away from her comfortable family surroundings and forge a life in music. At the age of 16, she headed, alone, to LA where she sang in a band, fell in love, broke up, ran out of money and was on her way back to Jackson, dream in tatters, when one of her close friends, insisted she move in with them. The friend was Riley Keogh whose mum is Lisa Marie Presley. Newly invigorated, Lauren lived with them for 8 months during which time she landed a starring role in the highly acclaimed, hard-hitting contemporary musical ‘Spring Awakening’. The show hit the big-time and soon Lauren was re-locating to New York where she performed on Broadway for two years.

With the phenomenal success of “Spring Awakening” and word spreading through New York music business circles about the girl with the incredible voice, Lauren landed a record deal. That partnership didn’t work out so well and they soon went their separate ways. However as Lauren was finding out as one door closes another opens. A meeting with Ivor Novello-winning songwriter Eg White, who had heard and been blown away by Lauren’s demos, lead to her decision to once again up sticks and move, alone again to her third big city, London. Her collaborations with Eg were soon producing a batch of incredible songs and Island Records, aware that they has found a serious talent, wasted no time in securing Lauren’s signature. Work on the debut album started in earnest and just a year after arriving in England, to make the record she had long dreamed of making, “Wasted In Jackson” was finished.

PRESENCE feat SHARA NELSON Sense of Danger (Calibre remixes) Juno Records 12″ Vinyl(JUNO10X)(preview)

Artist:
PRESENCE feat SHARA NELSON
Title: Sense Of Danger (Calibre remixes)
Label: Juno
Cat: JUNO 10X
Format: white vinyl 12″
Released: 12 July, 2010

Producer, label boss, DJ & remixer extraordinaire, Charles Webster will need no introduction to house music lovers. From his early days working at Square Dance Studios in Nottingham engineering for celebrated labels such as Time and DiY his unquestionable talent has seen him DJ all over the world, remix tracks on labels such as Defected, Buzzin’ Fly, Freerange and Dessous and release numerous records under various guises such as Furry Phreaks, DJ Profile and Presence. Under the moniker of Presence he teamed up with Massive Attack vocalist Shara Nelson to create the deep house anthem “Sense of Danger” which was released on the seminal deep house label Pagan. With Shara’s deeply emotive vocal layered over tough beats, metallic synths and soaring strings, this still sounds as fresh and as relevant as it did 12 years ago. This release sees the first drum & bass remix of the series, which we have entrusted in the accomplished hands of Dominick Martin aka Calibre. Anyone familiar with his work or who has heard his most recent album “Shine A Light” will know he is an artist unconfined to the restraints of the norm, and he displays this by flipping the original vocal on its head to create an alternative chorus to the original, embellished with stirring classical strings and spooky pads.
