New Michael Jackson album “Michael”due Dec. 14 (new single “Breaking News” Preview/Teaser)

Posted in News with tags , , , , on November 5, 2010 by dk

“Michael,” a new disc of original material by Michael Jackson is set to hit store shelves on Dec. 14 via Epic Records.

Released in conjunction with his estate, the album is said to have tunes recorded before his death in 2009.

“Breaking News,” originally recorded in 2007, is the title for the first track and it premieres Monday at his official web site and will stream for seven days.

The official announcement says the new single was recorded in New Jersey in 2007 and recently brought to completion. That year, Fox News reported that Jackson spent the three months living in Franklin Lakes, in a family’s private home, “trying to be normal.”

The cover for “Michael” was painted by artist Kadir Nelson. It shows the King of Pop in various iconic stages of his life from “Off the Wall” to “Dangerous.”(nj report)

Download:Mosca -FACT mix 199 (56 tracks in 100 minutes)

This morning’s FACT mix – the 199th episode in the series – is a marathon session from one of the most rewarding artists to emerge from the UK this year, Mosca.

Picked as one of our producers to watch back in January, Mosca opened 2010 with the first release on Night Slugs (‘Square One’, backed with the epic ‘Nike’), and one of the highlights of Fabric’s Elevator Music compilation in ‘Gold Bricks, I See You’. A propulsive remix of Four Tet followed, along with hip-hop tempo neck-snapper ‘Tilt Shift’ (forthcoming on Fat City), and listeners to his or Jackmaster’s recent sets will have already heard ‘Got Me Wrong’, a Niche-indebted rush that’s so larger-than-life it reloads itself. Seriously.

The best thing about Mosca’s discography so far is that none of these tunes sound particularly alike; whereas many producers are happy to make their name with a distinctive sound and then milk it for all its worth, Mosca’s already proved hard to pin down after a year on the radar. This week sees the release of one of his most satisfying productions to date, his remix of T. Williams and Terri Walker’s ‘Heartbeat’, which combines lounge house flavours with broken beat, a cut-up vocal climax and an outrageously fat bassline.

To celebrate, he’s worked overtime on this FACT mix, a dizzying 56-tracks-in-100-minutes affair which spans juke, jungle, hip-hop, dancehall, grime, techno and bassline, with new tracks from Pearson Sound, Jay Weed, Spooky and Girl Unit as well as himself.

Apache Beat  -Last Chants (October 5)
Free Download “Your Powers Are Magic”

Apache Beat have been championed by Pitchfork, NME, NYLON and countless others for the past two years and now their debut is finally upon us. The band has been pummeling stages with everyone from Gossip to Crystal Castles to School of Seven Bells and hinting at what was to come on their full length. Last Chants, produced/mixed by Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Swans) and also mixed by John Agnello (The Kills, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth), is a spellbinding collection of songs that are as beautiful as they are dangerous. Its relentless rhythms are off set by labyrinthine melodies to get lost in. The album features contributions from members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Rapture, and Lightspeed Champion.

“Knives” opens the album with its addictive synth line before front woman Ilirjana’s powerhouse voice assaults you. The centerpiece of the album are underground classic single “Tropics”, a tale of heartbreak which first put the band on the map followed by second single “Your Powers Are Magic”. “Nightwaters” is Apache Beat at their most romantic with its gentle melody and tale of a love that wasn’t meant to be. The band bares their teeth on “Fear of Falling” with its escalating drama and aggression. Live favorite “Another Day” ends things with it’s constantly mutating melody and insurmountable walls of distorted guitars and synth drones.

Apache Beat are one of NYC’s most exciting and original bands. Their rhythms are unlike anyone else’s, their songs take risks others wouldn’t and they have the kind of front woman most bands dream about. Last Chants will infiltrate your dreams and you will be better for it.
