DJ Mourad – Sea of Soul(NANO105)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 16, 2011 by E.N.

DJ Mourad is one of the hottest producers of Detroit techno. He is uncompromising in his love for music that originated in Motor City, USA. Mourad is clearly inspired by mssrs Saunders, Atkins and May; however, his own work pays homage to Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir, Underground Resistence and Red Planet and it is of no wonder he has released on Wallshaker, Accelerator, Lace, Enjoy, Quadrant and Minimal Soul for example.

Last year Mourad released ‘Patterns & Sketches EP’ on Nice & Nasty and gained tons of support, no less from Dave Clarke’s White Noise Radio show. Subsequent remixes for The Parallel, Avlina Red & Manuel Perez and Katsuhiko established Mourad as a Nice & Nasty family member and led to the release of Sea of Soul EP that is currently supported by Detroit Techno Militia, Nachklangmusik, Solab and Larry Cavelle to name a few.

The eponymous track gets remixed by Nachklangmusik, Vikte and TCane. Nachklangmusik continues with his deep love affair of melody and deep grooves whilst Nice & Nasty new boys Vikte (UK) and TCane (Germany) go for deep house and tought grooves and hard, minimal grooves, respectively. This is some serious dance floor action.

This promo features the original Sea of Soul EP plus the three new remixes. Your feedback is grately appreciated. Nice & Nasty is an Irish based label that features Marco Bernardi, The Parallel, Mark O’Sullivan, Derek Carr, DJ Mourad, remlaB, Katsuhiko, Rob Glennon, Nachklangmusik and T-Polar among others. We are always looking gigs to showcase our talents, so get in touch direct.

Sea of Soul EP will be released at the end of April 2011
Sea of Soul Remixes will be released at the end of May.
Nice & Nasty via EPM is available on all good digital stores.

Sea of Soul is already being supported by DJ Morpheus, Larry Cavelle, DJ Seoul (Detroit Techno Militia), Nachklangmusik, Dave Clarke and many more.

About

As we get closer to the release of 3:33′s debut we have a remix for you.
Roc Marciano’s “Marcberg” was our favorite record from last year.  It is one of the darkest and rawest NY Hip-Hop albums in years, so we were ecstatic when 3:33 was asked to remix one of the tracks in anticipation of “Marcberg’s” LP reissue dropping March 15th through Fat Beat Records.

The Big Machine, Out April 26

“Rainbow” (Remix Émilie)  MP3 Premiered On URB!
“inventive”

– The New Yorker

“… songwriter with a demure crackly voice whose music is rooted in Björk-esque notions of how technology and nature stream together.”
– SPIN

“… an electro-pop singer with a thump, purr, and sizzle.”
– Interview

“Upbeat stomping epics that build and build”
– The Independent

One of France’s most renowned artists, Émilie Simon, launched her career in 2003 and immediately captured the imagination of a large audience with her sprawling and elegant musical fantasies, earning three Victoires de la Musique (France’s Grammy equivalent) during the course of her first three albums. She gained international acclaim for scoring the smash documentary March of the Penguins and saw her first US release in 2006 with The Flower Book. In 2008, she relocated to Brooklyn where she recorded her new album The Big Machine surrounding herself with talented guests such as Kelly Pratt and Jeremy Gara (Arcade Fire) as well as Jon Natchez (Beirut) or Mark Plati (David Bowie, The Cure, Brazilian Girls). The Big Machine will released April 26 on Le Plan.  If you can’t wait until then, be sure to check out the Rainbow EP that dropped today on iTunes.  You can download the “Rainbow” (Remix Émilie) MP3 from the EP where it premiered on URB!

The Big Machine is full of Émilie’s powerful and seductive voice, inventively playful arrangements, driving synths and rhythms, and prodigious melodies. “The Ballad of the Big Machine” driving piano and horns punctuate Émilie’s plea to let her in.  The percolating rhythm of “The Cycle” commands you to dance as Émilie’s voice wraps itself around the beats and soars until the song explodes. “Rocket to the Moon” takes us back to an era that didn’t quite exist, it’s big band sound is reminiscent of the 1920s is also decorated with futuristic flourishes. “This is Your World” ends the adventure with a command to reclaim the world.

Émilie Simon is equal parts breathtaking grandeur and bewitching intimacy. Her iconic style has made her a respected voice in fashion. She is often seen donning dresses by Yeojin Bae, Jean-Paul Gauthier or Vivienne Westwood and collaborated with Paule Ka to design her stage attire. She blazes her own trail aesthetically, incorporating vintage clothing or up and coming designers to more established names, toying with fashion as she does with sounds.

Secret Cinema debut album Minerals on Gem Records

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on March 16, 2011 by E.N.

Jeroen Verheij has been churning out dance floor smashing tracks for almost as long as many of today’s clubbers can remember under his aliases Secret Cinema, Grooveyard and Meng Syndicate to name a few. Tracks like Timeless Altitude, Mary Go Wild (EC Records) and Kurzweil (Cocoon) invoke warm memories in many of us. In December of 2009 Verheij set up his own label ‘Gem Records’ and started to release the unique sound he is famous for as a DJ. Now, just over a year later, Gem releases its first full- length album!

The tracks on Secret Cinema’s ‘Minerals’, are inspired by the hardness, color and material of various minerals. CD1 consists of dance floor hammering tech-house and techno as we have come to expect from Secret Cinema. With contributions from Ramon Tapia, Egbert and m0h, timeless gems are guaranteed once again! Alongside these dancefloor friendly tracks are some more abstract jams. All is woven together in a powerful continuous mix on CD (with download voucher for single tracks) and all tracks are available separately on vinyl and download.

The Second CD is an ambient mix consisting of the sounds that form the base of the tracks on CD1, mixed with bizarre instruments, tuning forks and other sounds. Dirk-Jan Hanegraaff and Robert Kroos also known as Mental Youth, collaborated with Verheij on this creation. Perfect for relaxation after the party on CD1.
Some say this could be some of his best work of the past 18 years as one of the Netherland’s top techno producers!

Real Mad- “Come”(MAL015)+Free Download “Beverly Waves Her Hand Goodbye”

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 16, 2011 by E.N.

MalLabel Music Presents:
REAL MAD – Come  (MAL015)
RELEASE DATE: March 22nd, 2011
TRACKLISTING:
01   Come
02 Beverly Waves Her Hand Goodbye (Free Download 320)

Real Mad is a brand new artist hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa. His release for San Francisco’s MalLabel Music, “Come” is an attention grabbing debut recording for the young producer that bridges the gap between the growing US dubstep scene and the emerging movement in Africa. While Real Mad just started making tracks during the summer of 2010, there is a real maturity found on this collection that belies his rookie status.
The title track “Come” starts off with a slight pop feel complete with Autotuned vocal snippets before the big bass drop reminds listeners that this is a dubstep track. It makes for an excellent balance, as Real Mad balances restraint and sheen against a tough bass line with whooshing drops. The percussion is again finally chopped setting off polyrhythms galore that make this track a solid tune worth seeking out.
“Beverly Waves Her Hand Goodbye” fuses a heavy hip-hop downbeat with head banging drumstep percussion that pounds ominously. The melodies are a tasty mix of 8 bit sounds, rave stabs, and twisted synth lines overdriven to the point of fuzziness layered in to give the track an epic feel without being overly dark. The bass wobbles and pitches in all the right places and builds to an explosive saw tooth wave breakdown that sounds like chainsaws tearing through phone books.
 REAL MAD BIO:
Getting into electronic music was a natural progression for Real Mad who first started off his music career performing in local bands. He then became a well-known sound engineer and producer in his hometown of Johannesburg, South Africa. Spending many days in the studio he began exploring the world of electronic music. Testing the waters in the next style he was trying to take on he eventually found his niche in dubstep.  It was natural progression for him after years of working the studio. He learned all he could about the genre, invested in the proper gear, and began making tracks in July 2010. In November, he began shopping his creations online and made contact with Mal Harper of San Francisco’s premier dubstep imprint – MalLabel Music – which led to the release of his debut EP “Come” in the Spring of 2011. With the strength of the release he is planning follow-up recordings and an eventual tour in the near future.

autoKratz new album Self Help For Beginners +Free Download extra track ‘A-Train’

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on March 16, 2011 by E.N.

Self Help For Beginners is set for release on 30th May and features guests from Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order), Andrew Innes (Primal Scream) and Jagz Kooner.

autoKratz announce that their eagerly awaited second album SELF HELP FOR BEGINNERS will be available on CD and digital download from Monday 30thMay 2011.

Having started off by releasing a string of EP’s tailor-made for pummeling dancefloors, the bands 2009 Kitsuné debut Animal shone like a gem at a time saturated with electronic music. Always More and Stay The Same resonated through airwaves and clubs wherever you went.

It’s now two years later, and the stunning Self Help For Beginners will blow you away. It’s an innovative journey through dark electronic pop, hands-in-the-air garage techno and carefully nurtured moments of beauty.

The album sees the band collaborate with some of their heroes including New Order bassist Peter Hook, Primal Scream guitarist Andrew Innes and Primal Scream & Kasabian producer Jagz Kooner.

Of the collaboration Hooky said “I was delighted to be asked by autoKratz and knowing their music I completely understand why. Playing on the track was very easy and the boys made it very enjoyable. I’ve just listened to the track and then gone for a walk and found myself singing it over and over again – It’s great!”

The first glimpse of the new album came in January through the Radio 1 championed ‘Opposite of Love EP’. Self Help for Beginners certainly delivers on that promise and more.

The LP is to be released on the bands new label Bad Life, a new imprint to which they have also signed NT89, TWR72, Sovnger and 10Rapid. The labels first releases are receiving an impressive cross section of support, feted by the likes of Zombie Nation and A-Trak.

In four fast years autoKratz have become sought after remixers, working with the likes of La Roux and Underworld, whilst having developed a reputation for being one of the finest live acts in electronic music. Their never ending world tour continues to take them to all the corners of the globe, with highlights having so far included Glastonbury, Pukkelpop, Lowlands, Makuhari Messe Tokyo, Solidays, Parklife Australia, Dour and Koko in London.

Self Help for Beginners puts autoKratz back at the vanguard of British electronic music, and 2011 will without doubt be their most exciting year yet.

And to kick off the album release autoKratz are giving away massive new banger ‘A-Train’
