New album forthcoming on Warp Records on July 4.

Brian Eno first came across the work of Rick Holland in the late 90’s during the Map-Making project; a series of collaborative works between students of the Royal College, the Guildhall School of Music, the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, the National Youth Orchestra and the English National Ballet, among others.

In 2003, Brian and Rick made their first music together (the resulting work does not appear on this album). In the intervening time since that initial session they have met infrequently to work on new compositions.

In early 2011, following the release of ‘Small Craft on a Milk Sea’ (Brian’s debut album for Warp Records), the pair resolved to finish the project. ‘Drums Between the Bells’ is the result.

Mixpak Records Signs Electronic Producer ANDY PETR
Electronic dance music is best served cold. Although I can’t claim this to be true, Milwaukee-based producer Andy Petr could very well coin the expression. The electronic dance producer brews fierce rhythms and textures from his frigid Midwestern bedroom to conjure up cold sweats for all dance floors.

Recently signed to Mixpak records, Andy Petr will debut his first official release with the Rapper Turned Singer EP on May 10th. The prolific 19-year old producer also plans to deliver an onslaught of free EPs that include original material as well as the heavy reworkings of some of his favorite rap songs. The first free EP is entitled APD004 and you can download it here. Make way for the next generation.

Well beyond his years, Andy Petr affirms his knowledge of electronic music with his gamut of genre-dipping nods that interlace wallops of IDM, Chicago house, and hip hop. Eloquently displaying his intricate chops, Andy Petr combines current flair and timeless stylings with finesse and precision. Aloofness breeds genius. Far from the core London, Paris, and New York electronic scenes, Petr cranks out innumerable, mind-melting jams poised to smother the dance floors across the globe. A name to look out for in 2011 and beyond, there is no doubt Andy Petr will continue to inspire and surprise.

The Mixpak records approach is innovative and unique, where young unknown talent is given a home to grow alongside song music industry veterans. Andy Petr now joins the ranks of an eclectic and eccentric roster of trailblazers such as Hard Nips, Warrior One, Lil Scrappy, and Vybz Kartel.

Digitalism Share First Track From Their New Album, “I Love You, Dude”

Digitalism Release First Track From
New Album, I Love You, Dude!

New Album I Love You, Dude Comes Out
June 21st via V2/Cooperative Music/Downtown

Germany’s Digitalism is back in action, having announced the release of their first full-length since 2007’s Idealism. I Love You, Dude will see a release on June 21st via V2/Cooperative Music/Downtown, and the band has now shared the first track, “2 Hearts” “2 Hearts” is an arena-sized anthem propelled by the PA-crushing sonic pallet that Digitalism has come to be known for,
and has the immediacy of a new indie-disco favorite.
The band released the Blitz EP last year as a precursor to I Love You, Dude, to critical acclaim. Of Digitalism’s first album, Pitchfork described the Hamburg duo as “the artists probably most dedicated of all to the idea of merging rock and electronic dance music,” out of all their contemporaries aiming to get the indie rock kids on the dancefloor.
I Love You, Dude further serves their aim of getting everyone to dance with 10 tracks, each of which has their own vibrant identity. This is the sound of a band welding dancefloor pugilism onto crafted sonic sculpture. The band set the bar high for themselves, featuring tracks like  “Forrest Gump,” co-written with Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas, “Circles,” with its Who-ish keyboard and apparently existential lyrics, and standout track “2 Hearts.”
Music lovers from an early age, Jens Moelle and Ismail ‘Isi’ Tuefekci worked in music before they were propelled into the limelight. They came together when Jens, working afternoons in Hamburg’s Underground Solution record shop, became friends with Isi, who worked at a vinyl distributor. The two quickly bonded over their love of vinyl and became a DJ tag team. Soon they’d honed a live show that became hugely in demand and took them all over the world, with firing tunes such as “Jupiter Room” and “Pogo” backing up the hype alongside remixes for Depeche Mode and Daft Punk.
US tour dates are on the horizon….
