The Belgrade, Serbia based label Svetlana Industries today announced it will release it’s fourth recording on 13th June.

The record comes from BNJMN, the techno alias of enigmatic British producer Ben Thomas. As Jackhigh he released an astonishing collaboration Tropics EP with Teebs on Svetlana last year, attracting praise from figures as diverse as Hudson Mohawke and Falty DL. He followed that up with a totally different but equally acclaimed album as BNJMN for cult Dutch label Rush Hour earlier this year, which won him a new audience in techno circles, with plays and pladits from figures such as Benji B, Surgeon and Laurent Garnier.

The EP boasts four original tracks that build on BNJMN’s organic techno sound and take it in a new direction, absorbing influences from 2step and garage and the bass production of Burial, and combining it with very Detroit and Drexciyan aquatic sounds, all with Ben’s distinctive nostalgic melodies, filtered through a misty lo-fi haze.
These tracks are complemented by two remixes: Lukid’s extraordinary remix has been described as “looking out of a café window through the rain to an empty beach”, while Kelpe’s remix reveals a new aggressive edge and deep sense of foreboding to his sound.

There’s also a stunning video to accompany the Lukid remix of One Sea produced by new Svetlana signing Devon Hansen. The piece works as much as a piece of modern art as it does a promo, and a public screening is planned.

John Digweed & Nick Muir – 30 Northeast ‘Abe Duque remix’

Following, success of their heavyweight “Bilder”, John Digweed and Nick Muir return with a brand new creation, “30 Northeast”. It’s a spine-tingling, fizzing, spiralling, big-room monster in its original form, a blueprint that’s taken deeper, superbly, into classic house territory by Abe Duque.
The track title, “30 Northeast” refers to the street address of Vagabond in Miami, USA. The club that so effectively captured the energy of a John Digweed DJ set last year, that became his first ever commercially available live DJ mix. “John Digweed Live at the Vagabond”, recorded live at the 9th Annual Bedrock/Creations Party at Vagabond Miami 27th March 2010, was included on the “Structures’” bonus DVD as yet another musical milestone. A live mix complete with slideshow, it captured the essence of an amazing Bedrock Party for posterity (http://www.thevagabondmiami.com).
Between them, John Digweed and Nick Muir, producers of the finest electronic dance music, have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music over the years and have in many ways helped to define genres & push the boundaries further. As with all their releases, “30 Northeast” is another mission statement to show that they are not resting on past laurels but always developing their sound in an exciting direction.
Remix duties fall to USA’s Carlos Abraham Duque Alcivar, aka Abe Duque, the perfect candidate to take 30 Northeast in another exciting direction and provide a fitting alternative to the Original, two great versions of one great track, means yet another great release from Bedrock.
