Subvader aka Peter Wiley is a 20 yr-old bass producer/DJ lightwarped in from the distant galaxies of Michigan, USA. Always enflamed with passion, his sci-fi-sex vibes draw heavily from the UK funky movement, crunk and Chicago house as well as from the refined side of dubstep and garage. His recent work is receiving support from the likes of Melé, Distal, Dillon Francis, Kastle, Reid Speed, LOL Boys and Monki of Rinse FM. After an inclusion on our Think Tank Volume One release and a stellar remix of Eddie Hoey’s debut tune “Tonight,” we proudly present Subvader’s first full fledged offering on our label!

YACHT Release Sci-Fi Themed Mixtape,

Confirmed for Northside Festival

HERE to Download “Science Fiction You Can  Dance To” Mixtape

New Album Shangri-La out June 21st on DFA Records
YACHT’s last album, 2009’s critically acclaimed See Mystery Lights, was inspired by an optical phenomenon in the Texas desert and their new single, “Dystopia (The Earth is on Fire)” is a synth-pop anthem set to lyrics about the apocalypse.  So it should come as no surprise that the Portland duo have a great affinity for science-fiction.  YACHT’s Claire L. Evans has put together a mixtape celebrating two of the group’s loves: science fiction and esoteric dance music.

You can also catch YACHT live at New York’s Northside Festival.  They’ll be playing at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Midnight Magic on June 19th.    The band’s new album, Shangri-La, is out June 21st on DFA.

Fanfare Ciocarlia vs. Boban & Marko Markovic, Balkan Brass Battle (Asphalt Tango)

East European Heavyweights Fanfare Ciocarlia vs. Boban & Marko Markovic on ‘Balkan Brass Battle’
Release Date: July 12, 2011

Finally, the two titans of East European Gypsy music go head to head in a Balkan brass encounter of epic proportions. Following the tradition of brass battles from Serbia’s legendary Guca Brass Festival to New Orleans’ mean streets, the Balkan Brass Battle showcases the wit, passion and musical genius of Europe’s Romany Gypsy people.

In the left corner: Fanfare Ciocarlia, the Romanian rockers who rose from rural obscurity to international fame as one of the world’s most explosive live bands. Their fierce groove helped fuel a global beats revolution: Fanfare Ciocarlia tearing the roof off the sucka night after night!
In the right corner: Serbian trumpet legend Boban Markovic & Orchestra – survivors of the Yugoslav civil war, Guca Festival’s greatest champions, immortalized in Emir Kusturica’s maverick films, Boban’s Orchestra now feature young gun Marko Markovic, the fastest trumpet in town!

The Balkan Brass Battle CD was recorded across a feverish, sleepless forty-eight hours in a Transylvanian hotel right outside Graf Dracula, the castle of Vlad Tepes. Both bands laid down their hottest grooves then shaped up for a battle royal in the studio. Your ears won’t believe these Gypsy mavericks turbo charged takes on Duke Ellington’s ‘Caravan’ and John Barry’s ‘James Bond Theme’. Also recorded were Balkan folk tunes, original compositions and a surreal take on ‘Gummy Bear’ from the McDonalds’ Kids Menu

DEETRON – Rejected EP,TOP 10,Tour…

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on June 1, 2011 by J.D.

Deetron has been locked away in his studio for the past months creating yet more amazing music. With his “Starblazer EP” set for release on Joris Voorn and Edwin Oosterwal’s Rejected label, and a collaboration with Ripperton (Roots Panorama – Threee EP) coming on ultra-cool French label, Versatile, things are getting exciting in 2011.
Deetron also has an exclusive track, “The Maze”, out now on Pokerflat’s “Forward To The Past” compilation, and another exclusive track, “The Juggler”, will be released very soon on Heidi’s “Jackathon” compilation on Get Physical. An EP for Music Man is also schedule for the end of the summer.
Currently, Deetron is back in his studio working on tracks for his artist album and some upcoming remixes. He will also be releasing a high-profile mix compilation in September for one of the world’s most respected series. More news on this soon…

Deetron – Starblazer EP
A. Starblazer
B. Solar Surge
(Rejected) REJ017
Release: 27/06/11

Whilst we are used to finding the lush anthemic techno of Deetron on our sister label Green, we couldn’t be more excited to be welcoming the Swiss artist onto Rejected today with two fresh cuts for a superb debut.
More suited a Rejected double-header you will struggle to find, as Deetron delivers in outstanding peak time fashion. “Starblazer” growls and grooves from the off. The snare rolls announce the piano, and we are treated to an escalating riff, culminating in a classic ‘hands in the air’ moment. Bass and piano lead the way on the flip too, as “Solar Surge” certainly brings the heat as its old-skool dubby bassline rolls along with a piercing key riff stab throughout.
Both tracks are set to have a major impact on the summer’s dancefloors, as of course one would expect from yet another set of superb Deetron productions.

Roots Panorama (Deetron & Ripperton) – Threee EP
A1. Threee (Deetron Mix)
A2. Threee (Deetron Beeetz)
B1. Threee (Ripperton Mix)
Deetron and Ripperton have teamed up under their newly created Roots Panorama moniker for a release on the unique French label, Versatile Records. The amazing “Threee” blurs the lines between Disco, House and Techno… You’ve been warned! Watch out!

Although the mountain peaks of Bern, Switzerland hold little resemblance to the industrial skylines of Midwestern America, it was among these surroundings that Sam Geiser became inspired to keep the legacy of Chicago house and Detroit techno alive. Operating under his moniker Deetron since the early nineties, he has dedicated most of his life to making and playing out dance music in its truest form. His unique production style – a melodic, housey take on Detroit techno – has captured the hearts of many around the globe. Furthermore, his immaculate mixing skills and superb choice of records have kept him internationally in demand as a respected DJ for well over a decade.
Inspired by anything from seventies soul and New York disco to Chicago house and Detroit techno, Deetron started collecting music and DJ-ing in the early nineties. He received his first residency at Zürich’s legendary Trax club in 1995. Here, Deetron quickly learned the DJ-trade and became known as one of the most gifted and beloved jocks of Switzerland. A few years later, he took his first steps into the world of music production. Releasing on Phont Music made him known across the border, in places as far away as Japan. But it was ‘Dolls For A Diva’ (2001) – his first release on Music Man – and his widely acclaimed ‘Deetron In The Mix’ compilation (2002), that truly kick-started his international DJ career.
Meanwhile, an impressive collection of releases and remixes has appeared on labels like Music Man, 100 % Pure, Strictly Rhythm and Cocoon – all of them characterized by the same unique combination of club and listening elements. Walking the fine line between the soulful and the industrial, Deetron appeals to techno freaks as well as house lovers. His productions carry a certain timeless quality that is rare in today’s volatile electronic music scene. Tracks like ‘Emphasis’ (2001) have stood the test of time, and most likely his more recent hits like ‘I Cling’ (2007) and ‘Let’s Get Over It’ (2008) will, too. Even ‘Twisted’, his captivating debut album, still sounds as crisp
today as it did three years ago.
Furthermore, Deetron’s taste and technique make him stand out as an extraordinary force behind the decks. “My DJ-ing has a strong technical element,” he states. “My aim is to go as close to remixing as possible with the means of turntables and cd-players.” And anyone who has ever seen him twitch the knobs must agree he does a pretty good job at it. It all stems from Deetron’s extreme self criticism, which he also applies to himself when selecting tracks. With quality over quantity as a personal motto, he might not release a lot – but when he does, you know he means business.

Heidi presents Jackathon out July 25th on Get Physical

“In the beginning there was Jack and Jack had a groove, and from this groove came the groove of all grooves… And house music was born. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body. And in this house the keeper is Jack.” Until he met Heidi…

The first lady of BBC Radio 1 and major female force of dance music, Heidi, is inviting you to move your body, and when she asks there’s not many that can refuse. Introduced personally by one of the kings of house music, Derrick Carter, Heidi presents the Jackathon is a rollercoaster ride full of raw funk, shaking out those grooves until you can’t stop moving and leaving no question as to who is the true queen of jack.

Heidi´s Jackathon parties started October 2010 as a concept to bring some new life into the dancefloor. She invited some of her favourite artists and friends to play alongside her and to make the crowds bounce in Berlin and then London. Now the Jackathon holds residencies in both cities, as well as Paris, Manchester and Amsterdam, and it has brought the jack to many cities around the world.

The Jackathon is about energy and feeling and expressing something that lurks deep in the soul. The events have become a phenomenon due to their loose musical philosophy and family feel. Heidi felt now is the time to encapsulate its message and share it with the world. Keeping it in the family spirit, Heidi took The Jackathon compilation to her original home label, Get Physical, and asked 16 of her closest peers and artists she admires to produce a track specifically for the compilation. Juan MacLean, Jamie Jones, Soul Clap, Solomun, Deetron, Anja Schneider &, label mates DJ T and many more stepped up to the challenge.

The result is an invigorating journey into the roots of music culture it is influenced by the schools of 90´s new york style hip hop and house (Juan MacLean ‘Love in Tatters’), funk (Soul Clap ‘Incoming Bitch’), acid (DJ T feat Nick Maurer ‘High’) and explores new realms for jacking music (Steve Bug ‘Jack Is Back’). Referencing where it all began in the infamous lyrics of Fingers Inc, The Jackathon takes us through the ages and features original vocal drops made for the mix by the one and only Derrick Carter, who has been a major inspiration to Heidi a one of the main for her loving house music so much.

“I asked 16 artists that I admire to make an exclusive track for me as a little gift to the people who have supported what I do – some known, some unknown. It was also a gift to me, as I had no idea what these artists were going to make me. The result was more than I could have wished for. All of the tracks are totally different from each other and super fresh, which is what I wanted and keeps with the theme of the night. Diversity and change are always welcome.” Heidi on The Jackathon 2011.

Originally hailing from Ontario, Canada, Heidi moved to London in 2000 and was one of the creators of Phonica Records, known to many DJs as the best record store in the world. She became part of the Get Physical family in their glory years and is one of a handful of non-British presenters asked to host her own show on the prestigious BBC Radio 1. Since the show started in 2008, her forward thinking nature has continually shone through and she has broken artists such as Wolf + Lamb, Seth Troxler, Art Department, Jamie Jones, Nicolas Jaar first on the airwaves.

“Heidi at Sunday School was one of the best DJ sets I´ve ever seen. The woman plays with honesty and love.”  Nicolas Jaar, 2011.

Heidi has always been really supportive of my productions and my Hot Natured label series from the start. She’s a cool girl and I’m super happy to be involved in the next stage of  the Jackathon.” Jamie Jones, 2011.

A female icon, Heidi is often the unsung hero of her tribe. Hers is one of the only mainstream radio shows consistently championing the sounds of the current house and techno underground movement and she is personally resurrecting the music of the early Chicago masters. With a foot in the past but an eye on the future, Heidi masters the funk and redefines the jack in Jackathon.
