New York City’s Jessica 6 release their debut album, See The Light, today on Peacefrog Records!  In celebration, the band has released a brand new b-side MP3 called “East West Funk”. Described by RCRD LBL as “bongos, bass, and fly-ass disco fusion” the song is perfect for your next summertime party soundtrack.

Check out the “East West Funk” MP3  HERE.

For an early listen of the full album, check out See The Light streaming in its entirety on AOL Spinner today!

See The Light opens with a classic-in-waiting, the behemoth of a single, “White Horse”, that forces you to move like a witch doctor would. “Champagne Bubbles” is the kind of gritty R&B that isn’t afraid to be as angry as it is melancholic, its piano flourishes punctuated with a heavy kick and snare. “Prisoner Of Love,” which bridges electro and freestyle, featuring a soaring vocal melody that finds Nomi and guest vocalist Antony weaving their voices around each other to a stunning effect.

Jessica 6 has been commanding dance floors for years, globetrotting from London to Miami, San Francisco to Santiago, Bergen to Belgrade, seduce the dancing, sweaty masses with an electrifying blend of disco, soul and R&B.  In celebration of their debut release, the band hits the road once again with their hypnotic live show, kicking off with an album release show in NYC, then hitting Philadelphia before heading West for a run that includes a stop at San Francisco’s Gay Pride stage.

“It’s a successful, Herculean project that completely steamrolls any music in its wake.”
– MTV Iggy

“As evidenced from the very beginning, ATR haven’t slowed down or cleaned up their act in the 12 years between albums. Instead, Is This Hyperreal? sees them picking up right where they left off with banging electro beats, distorted synths and shouted political lyrics.”

YACHT Share New Track “Utopia,”

Band to Play Northside Fest

Available For NYC In-Person Promo June 20th & 21st
New Album Shangri-La
Out June 21st on DFA

“YACHT have learned how to write an excellent pop song”
“YACHT is dreaming up a paradisiacal land of electronic wonder”
“it seems that Armageddon is going to be pretty jamming… at least if YACHT have anything to do with it” FADER
 Download YACHT-Dystopia

YACHT have already released their apocalyptic-themed synth-pop anthem “Dystopia (The Earth is on Fire) and now that the rapture hasn’t actually destroyed the earth the duo are ready to share its companion track “Utopia.”  Click HERE to give it a listen if you didn’t check DFA’s whiteout session last night, and head over to iTunes to purchase the track.  Both songs will appear on YACHT’s forthcoming new album and second for DFA Records, Shangri-La (out June 21st).
“Utopia” is both thematically and sonically different from “Dystopia.”  The track is a frantic piece of arty disco funk.  YACHT’s Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans fuse their vocals to create appropriately celestial-sounding, androgynous harmonies.  Multiple layers of keys, guitars, drums, and more pound away in varying rhythms while the two sing lines like “there’s nothing in the future / it’s up to us to make utopia.”
YACHT will be joining bands like Guided by Voices, Wavves, Atlas Sound, and more as part of Brooklyn’s Northside Festival.  YACHT’s show will be at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Midnight Magic, The Miracles Club, and DFA DJ’s on Sunday,  June 19th.

Crowded House Frontman Neil Finn to Release

Debut Album from New Band: Pajama Club

Band to Play US Shows in Late June,

Master of pop song craft and front man of Crowded House, Neil Finn, and his wife, Sharon Finn have formed a brand new band called Pajama Club (formerly Pajama Party).  The New Zealand-based group also include local indie musician Sean Donnelly (SJD), and in its touring incarnation, former Grates drummer Alana Skyring.  Pajama Club’s self titled debut full-length will be released on September 13th through Lester Records/Redeye/

The album is a mix of gritty, garage rock grooves and electronic bleeps and squelches, topped off by Neill and Sharon’s back-and-forth vocals. The couple have an alluring natural chemistry that forms the core of the band.  Opening track, “Tell Me What You Want” romps along with a sexy, swampy lurch and introduces the nonchalant yet haunting sentiment that permeates throughout the album.  The first early release track “From A Friend To A Friend” has sheets of noisy guitar lurking beneath Neil and Sharon’s serene vocals, which tell of a mysterious scenario of strangers and headlights.
The band’s debut has a wonderful spontaneous feel to it, which stems from the way in which it was recorded.  The skeleton of the songs were formed when Neil and Sharon began jamming together just for fun at home, drinking wine, wearing pajamas and realizing they had something going on, other than a raw groove.  Eventually Neil added additional layers of guitar, keys, and other melodic lines to the bare-bones songs while he toured with Crowded House in 2009.  The final piece of the puzzle came when Sean Donnelly began rounding out the tracks with electronic loops and texture, in a similarly independent, creative, and organic fashion that Neil and Sharon had first begun.
Pajama Club’s debut bursts with a joyous, free spirited energy at every turn.  However it is Neil and Sharon’s impeccable melodies that bring it all together – burrowing in the listener’s brain while giving each song an immediate likeability.  The band will play several East Coast US tour dates in June, including the ‘Solid Sound’ Festival and will commence a short West Coast Fall tour in August.
