Consequence of Sound premiered 4 live videos from Atari Teenage Riot which you can see HERE or watch “Activate”, “The Only Slight Glimmer Of Hope” , “Blood In My Eyes” and“Collapse Of History” directly on vimeo HERE .

The concert footage was captured by 5 cameras on May 1st 2011, when Atari Teenage Riot played a secret show at Berlin’s legendary techno club Tresor to premiere their new album Is This Hyperreal? live.  A new stage was built on the 2nd floor of the building where the public is not usually allowed.  A small amount of fans were able to win free tickets to attend the show. Alec Empire of Atari Teenage Riot says: ”It was amazing to perform the new songs at this historic location. This is pretty much where techno started in the 90ties. It reminded people of old sci-fi movies from the 20ties like Fritz Lang’s Metropolis.Felt very intimate and nobody knew the new tracks…very exciting!”

Atari Teenage Riot’s “Black Flags (feat. Boots Riley)” remix package available with 7  “Black Flags” remixes by
Tony Senghore, Andy’s ILL Remix, Taku Remix, Nom De Strip Remix, Muffler Remix, Bais Haus Remix, and “Activate” remixes by Whiiite Remix, Dan Oh Remix, and AudioFun on September 6th  via iTunes and everywhere else on September 20th. You can download the single Black Flags as a free MP3 HERE.

The band’s latest single is drawn from the band’s new album Is This Hyperreal? out now via Dim Mak. Produced, mixed, recorded by Alec Empire, Nic Endo and new ATR member CX Kidtronik (Saul Williams / Nine Inch Nails), Is This Hyperreal? was recorded at the Hellish Vortex Studio in Berlin.

In addition to the band’s “Blood In My Eyes” video HERE , Atari Teenage Riot is also asking their fans to participate in the video for the band’s upcoming single “Black Flags”, which will be released on September 6th. You can hear “Black Flags” and read the lyrics HERE. They are calling their fans and others who support song’s ideals to make a video statement in front of a black flag, or any black surface to be included in the band’s final video. “Black Flags.” Fans are also invited to incorporate “Corpsing” into their video. Drawn from an idea the band had while “planking” at a Southern European airport, “Corpsing” is the act of laying down in a public location, covered in a black flag to represent those that have died as result of corporate greed. The band invites anyone to film themselves lip-synching to the “Black Flags” lyrics in front of a black flag or corpsing and send in their video to be included in the “Black Flags” video. All entries should be submitted to blackflags@atari-teenage-riot.net. Read the band’s full concept for the video HERE

Live & Remastered mixed by Larry Levan, David Morales, Todd Terry, Kenny Carpenter & Justin Berkmann: Ministry Of Sound 20th Anniversary Boxset

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 19, 2011 by dk

Live and Remastered is a time capsule transporting back to a special time in musical history giving a snapshot of the greatest and original disc jockeys of a generation at their finest hour.

Larry Levan, David Morales, Todd Terry, Kenny Carpenter and Justin Berkmann helped shape the face of youth culture, the ultimate godfathers of house music that kickstarted a movement that has endured more than a generation. These exclusive unheard mixes from 1991 mark a celebration of two decades of Ministry Of Sound, a flagship for British youth culture that embodies the world’s most famous club, the world’s largest independent record label, and a multimedia entertainment business.

2011 is a significant milestone in Ministry of Sound’s continuing evolution marking the 20th anniversary of the South London venue opening its doors as an alcohol-free nightclub dedicated to house music on 21st September 1991. To celebrate 20 years at the forefront of modern youth culture, Ministry of Sound has announced the 20:20 Project, an extensive range of activity throughout 2011. Kicking off with a free month-long multi-media exhibition in March, the birthday continues with a 3 day party at the London venue in September and a 20 date international tour.

As you’d expect from the label that sparked the DJ mix album revolution (and today’s leading compilation provider), Ministry of Sound are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a special boxset compilation album of unheard mixes from their extensive vaults entitled ‘Live & Remastered’.

In the early days, the men and women at Ministry of Sound hit the record button on their DAT machine each week and captured what were not just great sets by the era’s finest DJs, but also a slice of dance music history, too. The sets you are about to hear are not recreated from archaeologists’ dust or polycarbonate moulding, but actual live recordings of five DJs at the birth of house music. The late Larry Levan, Def Mix hero David Morales, Kenny Carpenter who played at Studio 54, chart topper Todd Terry and resident and co-founder, Justin Berkmann pool classics from Crystal Waters, Robert Owens, Chez Damier, Degrees of Motion and Lil Louis, complete with special reworks that have long since been forgotten.

Ministry of Sound have taken the recordings and digitally re-mastered them for modern perfection. They tracked down the original license owners (no mean feat in itself), and licensed the tracks so the sets could be heard for the first time in nearly two decades. The results speak for themselves. In a time where these records hold more meaning than ever before and nostalgia hangs heavy in air, this is a fitting way to celebrate the coming of age of a musical movement.

Maxime Dangles -Modulation Ep (preview)

Maxime Dangles has grown to be a key new artist in the French avant-garde electronic music community and is creating waves around the globe with his unabashed approach to proper club techno music. His track Santé (which translates as – Cheers!) is a highlight on John Digweed’s current Structures Two album, with its jittery tech-beats, joyous hypnotic melodic swing and well-timed hands-in-the-air moment. Maxime Dangles is an artist buzzing with creative intention and this new 4-Track Modulation Ep on Bedrock features yet more amazing music.
From the twisted spiraling climaxes of Astraktif, through the warped modulations of Cafetiere, to the soaring acidic energy of Dihaiz and the hook-ridden energy of Infinity, Maxime Dangles cannot fail to impress even the most tired of ears.
Born in 1985, Maxime discovered the world of nightclubbing at a very young age. He quickly became an excellent DJ but crucially also learnt how to create his own music. In 2004, he started to work on remixes and edits before developing his own musical imprint, which led to releasing tracks with the famous Kompakt label in 2006. Remixes of Scan X, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Simian Mobile Disco, Royksopp, Moby etc have followed.
Maxime has recently developed a live show and his energy and passion are now making him rising star of the international electronic scene.

Alan Fitzpatrick – Moon Palace (Beddigi11)(preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 19, 2011 by dk

Those of you with a good memory for a great tune will, no doubt, remember Alan Fitzpatrick’s Reflections (Bed82) from 2009 as an anthem of the highest order, and an ‘Essential New Tune’ for Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. So, it’s an honour to have him back on Bedrock in 2011 with yet another monster single release – Moon Palace.

From the majestic drum-fuelled opening bars and the lush powerhouse hypnotic techno attitude as Moon Palace builds towards its first gorgeous crescendo, the sheer melodic beauty of Alan Fitzpatrick’s creativity sets this track head and shoulders above the rest. No remixes, no versions, just one stunning single track. Alan Fitzpatrick has created something very special indeed in Moon Palace.

The continued rise of Alan Fitzpatrick is the biggest story in UK techno right now. Having enjoyed a rapid ascent since his emergence as the new kid on the techno block in the latter half of 2009, Fitzpatrick now enjoys a status as a highly respected and in-demand producer. By releasing his debut album for Adam Beyer’s globally renowned Drumcode label, Alan became the first act to record an album on Drumcode since 2005.

The well-received ‘Shadows In The Dark’ long-player marked the culmination of a run of productions that have seen Fitzpatrick publicly name-checked as a one of the most exciting producers in techno by Adam Beyer, John Digweed, Dubfire, Carl Cox and Len Faki. Indeed, such has been Fitzpatrick’s dominance of the techno scene in the last eighteen months that his productions have regularly filled the top positions of Beatport’s techno Top 100 chart at the same time. Now, with his return to the Bedrock label, it’s time for Moon Palace to fly.
