CARP Recordings proudly presents…
PoP Campaign – Kraut Popping LP
Rarely do new artists rise above their hype, but there are a select few whose music is grounded enough in  influences to be considered credible and yet forward-thinking enough to cut through any false and fleeting accolades. The emerging Berlin duo PoP Campaign is such an artist, and the debut album, Kraut Popping, is a mix of the familiar (synth pop, krautrock, techno) and the youthful frontiers of the unknown (tracks like the lead off single “Herzlich Willkommen”). From top to bottom the album is stacked with pop music as filtered through analog soundscapes that defies simple comparisons to other contemporary artists. In addition to the wicked tunes, the duo also has killer stage presence, making PoP Campaign ones to watch in 2012.

Hotflush  presents the return of Sigha with a new EP entitled“Abstractions I-IV”, his sixth on the label. On this release he reaches into darker territory, beginning with a beatless, ambient suspension, drawing the listener in his submerged sonic sphere before dropping into a series of chilling compositions that seem to seethe and smolder at sub-zero temperatures, adorned with haunting electronic blips and synthetic machinations throughout.

Gravenhurst Announces New Album (Out May On Warp Records) Stream new track The Prize

Gravenhurst Announces New Album
The Ghost In Daylight Out May 1

Gravenhurst is the work of songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Nick Talbot from Bristol, England. The Ghost In Daylight is his most sonically diverse work yet, building upon his brand of gloomy folk with starkly acoustic songs resting alongside densely layered pieces. The album’s lead single “The Prize” is a dark meditation on recurring Gravenhurst themes of compulsion, degradation and the possibility of transcendence, and contains some of Nick’s finest lyrics to date.

Conjured from disparate ingredients, Gravenhurst’s roots lie in the melodic noise of My Bloody Valentine, the lush vocal harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel, the alchemical guitars of Richard Thompson and Johnny Marr, and the widescreen ambient visions of Brian Eno.

Over the course of five startling and critically acclaimed releases, Talbot has developed and retained a unique identity across multiple genres. The inability to pigeonhole his sound is what made his music appealing to fans of former tourmates as diverse as Animal Collective, Broadcast, Explosions in the Sky, and Belle & Sebastian. Now five years on from his last album, Gravenhurst is back and ready to pull listeners into his world.
