Belleruche release ‘Stormbird’ from forthcoming May album ‘Rollerchain’

Belleruche release their debut single ‘Stormbird’ from their forthcoming fourth album ‘Rollerchain’ due for release on Tru Thoughts label this coming May.

A three minute, dual vocal line, tempo shifting distorted oddity, ‘Stormbird’ is unlike Belleruche’s previous work, but draws from the same cabinet of sonic references. Like a subbass driven pop song with clipped drums and swells of looped feedback, ‘Stormbird’ grabs your attention and runs away with it into the shadows.
Belleruche have evolved five years of broken blues, electronic punk and turntable soul into a sound so diverse and unsurpassable it merges to create a standalone genre all of its own. The three-piece formed from a jazz singer, turntablist and rock guitarist began their journey in the back rooms of London pubs snowballing swiftly onwards to tour the globe and now play to sold out venues nationwide. Hailed as one of the most intriguing DIY electronic vocal-led bands of today they blaze the way for a new genre.
Having pressed their first three 7″ singles themselves and selling them out at their early shows, Belleruche signed with Brighton based record label Tru Thoughts, and continued working hard at their unique and twisted brand of music. Playing over 50 shows a year and releasing three albums in four years has built them a committed and diverse fan base around the world.
The work they have put into developing their sound has culminated in their highly anticipated fourth album LP “Rollerchain” forthcoming on Tru Thoughts Records. On this album Belleruche have created a more bass heavy, evocative and darker sound in the studio and on stage, whilst still retaining their infamous melodic soulful touch.  The result is a very modern sound combined with classic song writing ability, the album is a collision of haunting vocals, aggressive analogue sounds and bleeding edge electronic production. Stranger rhythms and darker basslines inhabit this record, the band have picked up new instruments, styles and ideas to create a complexity and an attack that take the band’s core elements to a new level.
Rollerchain’ will be released on 7th May on Tru Thoughts.
The Scala in Kings Cross plays host to Belleruche on May 27th, for their London showcase gig of the UK tour, the band will play the new material from ‘Rollerchain’ and selections from their three previous albums. Fans who have been to their last London events will testify, the night will be a unique experience, presenting both the music and the visual elements of the bands work making it an electrifying night not to missed.
Belleruche hit the road this May touring throughout the UK and France and then festivals throughout the summer.

Ryan Monroe (Band Of Horses) – Solo Debut + Free Download

Posted in News with tags , on February 22, 2012 by dk

Ryan Monroe, multi-instrumentalist for Band Of Horses, is excited to announce the release of his debut album A PAINTING OF A PAINTING ON FIRE. Set for a May 22nd release, this collection of songs was written over the last few years, in-between tours and during various musical ventures. What started off as over 100 songs and ideas was eventually whittled down to an 11-song album that showcases Ryan’s talent as both a musician and songwriter for pop-oriented progressive rock.

Recorded at Redstar Studios in Silver Lake CA with Grammy award-winning producer Chris Testa, Ryan plays every instrument on this cohesive album that seamlessly flows from elaborate pop rockers to complex but melodic ballads.

With an opportunity to play every note on the record and having access to the studios large collection of instruments, Ryan was able to explore every idea. “I’ve had multiple parts for different instruments brewing in my head for quite some time, and because the studio had so many toys, I started messing with vibes and strange synths to get them out. To just walk over to any instrument and start kind of painting the track with it was extremely fun and therapeutic. There were over 120 different instrument tracks on some of the tunes” laughs Ryan.

What gives A PAINTING OF A PAINTING ON FIRE its character is how Ryan fearlessly explores musical territories / influences – country, art-rock, pop, classical and prog – often in the course of one song. The end result is an accessible and colorful listen for fans.

Cypress Hill and Rusko premiere first video “Roll It, Light It”

Cypress Hill and Rusko preview forthcoming collaborative EP  Cypress X Rusko with video for ‘Roll It Light It’

5 weeks after legendary Hip Hop pioneers Cypress Hill announced a collaboration with UK dubstep DJ/Producer Rusko, comes the first video from the EP.  The 5 track EP will be released in April.

“I think dubstep is a natural progression of hip-hop,” says Sen Dog“Especially the way that we formulated it with Rusko, there’s definitely some roughness to it.”

“We’ve always been the type of group to take chances on doing something radically different than what people expect from us. So this carries with the tradition of us going out of the box. If it’s not something that we embrace then we don’t dare mess with it and this is something we fell right into the pocket of,” adds B-Real.

The video was directed by Canadian director Jodeb and sees the band travel on an epic freight train journey through mountains and deserts.
