Break Science – Light Speed Transit (Video)

Posted in News with tags , , , , on March 8, 2012 by dk

This video began with a vision we had that involved a Shaman deep in the forest, who through a mind altering experience, sees a vision of the future in all its beauty and terror. The song and video have a powerful undertone of overcoming darkness by unleashing the light within. We were lucky enough to get to work with amazing animators John Camalick and Mike Wechsler to make this vision come to life. Lightspeed Transit is a high speed journey deep into the mind and soul.

Zulu Winter

Debut Album Language Out June 19th On Arts & Crafts

“We Should Be Swimming” Video & MP3 Available Now!

Launching US Tour @ SXSW

“…music that shimmers like a sky full of fireworks”  NME

“catchy and anthemic indie-dance” – The Guardian

UK reverby rockers” – BrooklynVegan

Perseverance and dedication are two things that the members of Zulu Winter are very familiar with. The four guys from Oxfordshire, England came together in their teens over a shared love of music and have been collaborating ever since. Now, twelve years after their first practice as a band, Zulu Winter is gearing up to release Language, a debut album that has the immediate appeal of pop while at the same time packed with emotional insight. Inspired by everything from 19th century literature to obscure ‘60s electronica, Language will be released in North America on June 19th via Arts & Crafts.

Language is a collection of multi-dimensional songs that bleed with sentiment and syncopated dance beats. The album opens with “Key To My Heart,” a sincere message of love that showcases the depth and richness of the band’s sound with layers of swirling instrumentation. The upbeat “Silver Tongue” is driven by an energetic bass line that leads to a danceable chorus. “Bitter Moon” is an emotionally charged track hinged on a powerful chorus, inviting listeners to experience a vulnerable side of the band. “We Should Be Swimming” is a melancholic pop-song running over a compelling rhythm. Zulu Winter released a chilling video for the track, and today they have released the song as a free MP3 download. Check out the eerie behemoth of a video HERE and grab the “We Should Be Swimming” MP3 HERE.

Having played sold-out shows across Europe alongside acts like Friendly Fires and The Horrors, Zulu Winter is ready to bring its energetic live show to the US. The band will be hitting the road for a string of US dates this month, including multiple performances at SXSW. Be sure to catch Zulu Winter live in your city!

Cygnets ‘Dark Days’ – album out now for free download

“Dark, infectious synth-driven new wave gems that could have come

 straight out of early-80s London.”
– Edmonton Sun
“Cygnets have created a post-punk masterpiece, and best of all,
you will never pay a cent for it.”
– Intercamp Magazine
“Dark Days – the new album from Cygnets – is catchy, danceable, sexy, and well, dark.”
 The Sound And Noise
Their energetic live shows have established Cygnets as a staple in their native Canada, where they’ve shared the stage with acts such as You Say Party! We Say Die!,Apoptygama Berzerk and Shout Out Out Out Out. With significant national radio play and attention from print media under their belts, these 3 boys from Edmonton are ready to take their brand of new wave/electro/post-punk to the masses.
The band is the culmination of many years of hard work, as songwriter and musician Logan Turner worked privately writing and recording hundreds of songs before deciding to explore a group dynamic. This collaboration was finally realized in close friends Chris Bruce and Dan Snow. Bringing textured, inspiring guitar work and bright, catchy synthesizer hooks, they compliment and enhance Turner’s ambitious songwriting style and singular, melodic vocals.
Favorable comparisons have included The Smiths, Joy Division and Depeche Mode, but the band undoubtedly has a uniqueness of its own, contrasting danceable, uplifting beats with darkly personal lyrics.
“We want to take the horrors of life and make them beautiful. Paint them into something that both exposes them and gives them new meaning. The goal is to have people screaming out horrifying and deeply personal words at the top of their lungs while dancing to our music, happier than they’ve ever been. For a brief moment it might seem like despair, lurid sexuality, and death all have a purpose.”
Their 2010 debut album ‘Bleak Anthems’, described as a “post-punk masterpiece”, was released as a free download and CD to much acclaim. The forthcoming follow up LP ‘Dark Days’, due for release on March 6th will also be available at absolutely no cost, preceded by the killer synth-punk anthem ‘Teenager. Listen to/download the track for free fromhere.
Cygnets are about to put Edmonton on the map.
