Karin Park shook up the underground in 2011 with the release of her critically acclaimed EP ‘Tiger Dreams’. Reigniting Sweden’s electronic scene with her own injection of dark, synth driven goth-pop, Karin is regarded as Scandinavia’s hottest new export.
With a Norwegian Grammy already securely in her clutches and a growing army of fans and fellow musicians and DJ’s supporting her every step, Karin has earned her status as an awe-inspiring live artist having caused a flurry of excitement with recent performances across Europe supporting dance floor royalty Azari & III and SBTRKT while bathing festival goers at Lovebox and The Great Escape in her brooding electronic beats and signature spell-binding vocal.
Karin’s next single, ‘Thousand Loaded Guns’ mixes slick, ultra-modern production with staccato synths that ooze retro vibes; Karin breaths her velvety vocal across the melting bass line sweeping the track skyward. The track has received incredible early support from R1’s Nick Grimshaw and R2’s Jo Whiley, while the ever-growing plethora of championing DJ’s includes Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Rob De Bank and Giles Peterson.

One half of the prolific duo Mista Men, Mella Dee, steps up for his second EP of 2012 following up the recent CTRL EP on Coyote Records. Having already had a slew of releases under the Mista Men guise with production partner Woozee (on labels such as Unknown To The Unknown, Cheap Thrills and Greenmoney); his work has been revered by the likes of Mosca, Blackdown, Beneath and B Traits. The Ruffcut EP sees the Doncaster-based producer exemplify his skills as a solo producer touching upon House, Garage and even Grime territory for a snapshot of his own personal influences.
With an intro that contains audio from Grime MC Crazy Titch’s infamous cab driver incident; ‘Gassed’ is a fierce bass-led track with heavy claps and hi-hats that are counter-acted with some playful synth work. Whilst on the surface the track seem rigid and stern the variety of percussive elements make it more than suitable for dancefloor outings.
‘Fazed’ has all the bump and swing reminiscent of UK Garage in it’s heyday. Slightly more raucous than it’s pre-2000 predecessors it carries the signature groove and dexterity that have been a focal point of Mella Dee’s solo productions to date. The Ruffcut EP is rounded off by ‘In The Bits,’ a sultry cut that shuffles with propulsive drum programming and is the closest to a fully-fledged House cut out of all three tracks. With this solo EP Mella Dee manages to stay close to his Garage roots without being limited by traditional genre conventions, manipulated his work into something that is a refreshing account of the state of play in 2012.
The Presets revealed their new single “Ghosts”, from their forthcoming album Pacifica (out digitally on September 10 and in stores the 11th via Casablanca). The single will be available on iTunes August 21.
After the “face-melting techno” of the street track “Youth in Trouble”, “Ghosts” represents a sublime and adventurous musical turn for The Presets.
Minor-keyed Merengue grooves are topped with First Fleet melodies, while synth washes and skittering beats glide effortlessly across the track’s rollicking, undulating peaks and valleys.
“When Julian played me his initial sketch of this song it utterly blew my mind, “ explains Kim. “Taking a classic folk style, sea shanty and adding it to an up tempo techno groove was just genius to my ears.”
The Presets recently released the video for Pacifica track “Youth in Trouble”. Watch the kaleidoscopic pixilated roller coaster, created by New York based visual artist Yoshi Sodeoka, here. The single andremix package for “Youth In Trouble” are available now on iTunes.

Fur Coat are about that space where darkness meets the groove. Their combination of live vocals and psychedelic synths create dance floor magic. The Venezuelan duo was spotted by Crosstown Rebels head Damian Lazarus little more than eight months ago, and they have since been on lockdown to complete their first studio album.
Bringing together some supreme guest vocalists such as Mel Blatt of All Saints fame, the young NYC star Rap Lisa, Big Bully known for his previous work with Jay Haze, Cari Golden, Argenis Brito and Stee Downes, the result is primed for taking charge of the dancefloor at the end of 2012.
Fur Coat plant the colour of their own continent – ‘Interlude’ takes a sample from the Venezuelan talking clock – while adding their own twist from their travels and supernatural experiences in mind-bending cuts such as ‘Spirit’ and the anthemic ‘You and I’ featuring Cari Golden.
“Mind Over Matter is a way of thinking that we have. We believe if you think what you want and you visualize it you can get it, and with the power of mind you can overcome any obstacle. Our inspiration is life itself, traveling, eating, knowing new places, new countries, meeting people, our girls (my girlfriend & israel wife), art, cultures.” Sergio Muñoz (Delete)
Fur Coat is the brainchild of Sergio Muñoz (Delete) and Israel Sunshine, two fresh producers from Venezuela. Their first single ‘Space Ballad’ feat. Argenis Brito featured a huge remix by Totally Extinct Enormous Dinosaurs and kept all eyes firmly focused on the duo.
The worlds of Sergio and Israel collided in 2004 in their hometown of Caracas but crunch time came in Barcelona, summer 2010 when the pair decided to develop their sound collectively. Intent on making something fresh and futuristic, they work with shades of the soul, funk and disco music they share as influences.
Combined with the omnipresence of Latin music growing up, a formative cocktail of Giorgio Moroder, Larry Levan and La Fania All Stars and Salsa Brava led to a vibrant musical philiosophy and powerful desire to work their magic on the dancefloor.
