Lyrics to new PUSSY RIOT song “Putin Lights Up the Fires”

Lyrics of New PUSSY RIOT Song
“Putin Lights Up the Fires”

Pussy Riot shares their new song, “Putin Lights Up the Fires” with the world HERE.

This is the art group’s first musical piece since the “Virgin Mary, Please Drive Putin Away” for which three members were found guilty of hooliganism driven by religious hatred and sentenced to two years in jail. The Guardian has edited the new song to a montage of Pussy Riot members and their supporters. Even though the song was released on Friday, the translated lyrics have just been revealed today.

PUSSY RIOT “Putin Lights Up the Fires” lyrics:
(translation credit: @Russian_Market)

This state may be stronger than time in jail.

The more arrests, the happier it is.
Every arrest is carried out with love for the sexist

Who botoxed his cheeks and pumped his chest and abs.

But you can’t nail us in the coffin.
Throw off the yoke of former KGB!

Putin is lighting the fires of revolution
He’s bored and scared of sharing silence with the people
With every execution: the stench of rotten ash
With every long sentence: a wet dream

The country is going, the country is going into the streets boldly
The country is going, the country is going to bid farewell to the regime
The country is going, the country is going, like a feminist wedge
And Putin is going, Putin is going to say goodbye like a sheep

Arrest the whole city for May 6th
Seven years isn’t enough, give us 18!
Forbid us to scream, walk and curse!
Go and marry Father Lukashenko

Guillaume & Coutu Dumonts New Album ‘Twice Around The Sun’ (Circus Company 10/8)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on August 20, 2012 by dk

Racing between the tangible warmth of the past and the thrilling unknown of the future, Guillaume Coutu Dumont comes flying back within our reach to impart his time-spanning gospel for a third album of subversive house music. ‘Twice Around The Sun’ will be accompanied by a North American tour in September – dates and listening link below.

After he last graced us with the smoky hue of “Breaking The Fourth Wall”, Guillaume returns in a state of evolution. From the earthy rattle of the natural percussion on “Last Call” to the sultry coo of the sax on “Constellation”, this album is undoubtedly his, and yet thereʼs a different kind of forward momentum at work here.

It manifests itself in the primal beat and Eastern mysticism of the bass line in “Time Outta Joint”, or the frantic swing and scatty keys of “Discotic Space Capsule”. While the thump of the drums is a familiar trope for any lover of dance music, there are cosmic incantations being whispered in the synthesisers and sound effects that elevate the dancefloor to an astral plane somewhere up above.

A strong force in this transcendental quality that permeates “Twice Around The Sun” is Guillaumeʼs choice of collaborators. In particular his co-conspirators in Guillaume Coutu Dumont & The Side Effects lend their band dynamic to three tracks on the album. You may recognise Dave Ajuʼs soulful croon when it cuts through the mix, but then itʼs just as quickly shrouded in a vocoder. Likewise Nicolas Boucher on keys, Sébastien Arcand Tourigny on sax and Alexis Messier on guitar inject an otherwordly spirit into the heart of the kinetic machinations Guillaume has crafted, expanding on their two-year strong venture into live performance within a house music context.

Elsewhere you can hear the unmistakable seductions of dOPʼs Jaw as he insists that you “run, baby, run” on “Discotic Space Capsule”. Itʼs a sense of urgency that carries throughout the album, making you aware of the time passing just as it gives you no choice but to succumb to the next twist in the tale.

Take the ever-rising tension of “Man, Woman And Soul” which finally bursts into a shower of starlit arpeggio and rave-ready bass, only to be met by the exuberant finale of “Solar Flare”. As the irrefutable power of the SH101 bass line gets bolstered by the saucy drums, Aju delivers one of his most iconic vocal turns to date and Guillaumeʼs interstellar voyage reaches a temporary conclusion.

Itʼs a joyous note to leave us on, blasting the combined spiritual searching and instinctive pleasure of the whole album into the ether. Letʼs just hope itʼs not too long before Guillaume comes back down from his galactic travels to grace us with more of his message.

Tony Scott R.i.P.

Posted in News with tags , , , , on August 20, 2012 by dk

Director Tony Scott, best known for the films “Top Gun” and “Beverly Hills Cop II,” died in an apparent suicide Sunday when he jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California, an official with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office told CNN.
“There’s nothing to indicate it is anything else at this time,” said Lt. Joe Bale of the coroner’s office.
Scott, 68, jumped from the bridge at about 12:30 p.m., Bale said. The bridge spans the Los Angeles Harbor, connecting San Pedro and Terminal Island.
A passerby who saw Scott jump from the bridge called 911, according to a statement released by the coroner’s office late Sunday.
