NYC Based Duo MS MR Announce Debut Album Out May 14 on Columbia Records. Hear new song “Fantasy”

NYC-based, indie-pop duo MS MR has announced that their debut album, Second Hand Rapture, will be released May 14th in the U.S. on Columbia Records.  To coincide with this announcement a stream of “Fantasy,” a new track on the upcoming album, is available now HERE. Lizzy Plapinger (MS) and Max Hershenow (MR) began their musical collaboration in December of 2010, recording in secrecy, at Hershenow’s home studio in Brooklyn, NY over the course of 2011.   Produced by Hershenow, with additional production and mix by Tom Elmhirst, Second Hand Rapture is comprised of 12 tracks and includes the band’s debut single “Hurricane.”
Last week MS MR played two sold-out nights at NYC’s Mercury Lounge and yesterday the band made their headlining sold-out, debut at the Echo in Los Angeles.  MS MR’s ability to command a room has drawn attention to their live shows, which The Village Voice deemed “intoxicating and Time Out New York called “refreshingly sincere new-wave style mood pop.”  Having toured with Marina and the Diamonds and Grouplove last year, the band will make their debut this year at SXSW, perform at NYC’s Governor’s Ball and plan to tour through the release of their new album this summer.

Mykel – Debut Single ‘Sweet Valentine’ (Stream)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on January 24, 2013 by J.D.

Mykel - Sweet Valentine (feat Ati Fisher)Mykel aka Irish singer, song writer and producer Michael Fitzpatrick, will be releasing his debut single ‘Sweet Valentine’, an artfully crafted track exploring the depths of soulful electronica, this February via Ntrang Music.

2013 looks to be a huge break out year for Mykel, starting with the release of his first single – ‘Sweet Valentine’, an emotive track exploring love and lust. The song features haunting, soulful vocals which are beautifully juxtaposed by a deep bassline and an infectious electronic backing track. Mykel successfully merges underground electronic with organic pop to create a sound that’s unique but crucially maintains a broad appeal.
Michael counts Ed Sheeran, Knife Party and Labrinth amongst his main musical influences but has a wide variety of musical tastes, listening to everything from underground hip hop, to 50s big band and soul singers and classical music. All of which have helped him shape his own music, in which he takes elements from multiple genres to create emotive pop with a deeper and harder edge.

Christian Smith is one of the world’s leading exponents of inventive and diverse techno. Both as a DJ and producer he is always bold and innovative, leading rather than following, exploring the world with his exciting and diverse musical palette.

With “Omakase” (translates as tasting menu or entrust in Japanese) – his follow-up to his critically acclaimed “Director’s Cut” (Tronic, 2010) album – he has created a supreme dancefloor orientated selection of tracks that explore and showcase his various styles within the techno genre: groovy, musical, peak-time and minimal.

This highly anticipated artist album follows a selection of stunning remixes of the finest classics – Underworld “Dark & Long”, Carl Craig “At Les”, Laurent Garnier “Flashback” – and having several Beatport #1’s under his belt. But it was perhaps “House This House” becoming the biggest selling release on Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 that was the highlight of 2012.
