MYR14D - On My Mind - Get SomeGet Some introduce yet another newcomer to the UK Bass scene in the shape of the mysterious MYR14D aka Oliver Keogh. Hailing from Buckinghamshire, Keogh has crafted a debut EP of accomplished club-focused tracks that touch upon a wide array of moods and sounds palettes that play a part in any well-formed DJ set.
The EP opens up with the title track On My Mind, a slow-burning house number that patiently progresses to a drop of 808 claps and hi-hats that show the technical dexterity and maturity for a producer in such an early stage in his career.

Stay 4 Me takes things up a notch with a thumping 4/4 beat pattern and infectious vocal sample being the tracks’ focal points. Being slightly more rough and ready than the lead track, Stay 4 Me comes into its own with the addition of a rambunctious bassline and blissful psychedelic synth lines at the halfway point that give the cut an extra dimension.
Rounding things off is Raven – the off-kilter effort which takes its cues from the IDM stylings of Nathan Fake and Border Community. Its  quirky melodies and unconventional song structure indicate that there’s a great deal more to come from Get Some’s latest find who has just added yet another prized gem to the label’s growing discography.

BP - Inspirado por UstedWith Guy J’s “Vaga” and “We Do It Best” (LF004) still ringing in many an ear over the festive period, it’s time to welcome in the New Year in style with the debut release on Lost & Found from BP, a super talented Belgian DJ and producer.

Patrick Bruyndonx aka BP is resident DJ at the legendary Cafe d’Anvers Club in Antwerp and “Inspirado Por Usted” is one of those spine-tingling, genre-bending, inspirational tracks that cannot be forgotten. This sprawling tribal masterpiece was the first track that he produced under his BP moniker has been lurking in the wings since he first met up with Guy J in Amsterdam in 2010.

“I still find it one of my special tracks and it will always be like that, being the first BP production. Inspirado por usted means inspired by you, and it’s creation was inspired by a DJ set of Riccardo Villalobos when he played at FUSE in Belgium some time ago.” – BP

“When I first heard this track, around 2 years ago now, it stayed in my mind, but it was before I had the label or even a plan to have my own label. I told Patrick that if I had a label I would sign it right away and I feel so lucky to now have such an amazing piece of music as part of Lost & Found.” – Guy J

Guy J is a young artist with exceptional musical talent, and his superb remix of “Inspirado Por Usted” weaves more hypnotic magic into the proceedings creating a suitably powerful track that is yet another masterful creation. There can be no doubt that he is one of the standout electronic artists in the world today.

Having become one of the most sophisticated and emotive producers in electronic music over the last decade, Guy J launched his own Lost & Found label on 23rd July 2012. This exciting new platform will allow him to release not only his own critically lauded, sensual, hypnotic take on house music, deeply textured techno and wondrous ambient material, but also give him the freedom to sign and nurture new talent like Guy MantzurSahar ZYariv Bernstein and BP and also release hidden gems from some exceptional established artists like Kevin Yost(LF002).

Random Soul – Live For The Moment(album preview)

Random Soul - Live For The Moment‘Live For The Moment’ is the debut album from Random Soul, the Australian house duo of Yogi & Husky. The pair have made a big impression in recent years with releases for labels including Strictly Rhythm, Bargrooves, Salted and Large.  The album, released on their own label Random Soul Recordings, presents an effortless journey through 15 tracks that cement their position amongst the most established names in Deep and Soulful House circles, while also showcasing their talent in creating Soul, Jazz and Funk gems.

‘Live For The Moment’ incorporates everything from floating vocals and laidback soulful grooves riddled with live instrumentation, through to bumping, funky club tracks.  The album also highlights Random Soul’s talent as songwriters with a string of captivating vocals featuring strong hooks, often performed by Yogi. Six vocal collaborators include well-known West Coast USA artists Chuck Love and Joshua Heath, as well as Kristen Pearson, Kyla Sexton, Natalie Conway and Louis Hale.  All are close friends of Yogi & Husky, and the chemistry of the relationships shines through: “Working with friends always makes the job seem more fun too, so doing tracks with people like Joshua Heath and Chuck Love, usually meant more jokes and laughing than “work” per say. We enjoy getting other people in the studio as it creates such a different dynamic.”

Listening to these collaborations and the album in full it’s clear to hear where many of Random Soul’s influences lie, with the house sounds of Miguel Migs, Joey Negro, Grant Nelson and Groove Armada providing a strong focus, alongside funk and soul artists such as Rae & Christian and Smoove & Turrell.

The first single taken from the album is ‘Mysterious’ and will feature a Richard Earnshaw remix to be released late January / early February 2013.
