Pillow Talk Announce Debut LP Je Ne Sais Quoi on Wolf + Lamb

Pillow Talk Announce Debut LPSan Francisco threepiece live band PillowTalk are surprising dance music treasures. Manipulating pop melodies, classic R&B, soul and boogie into the loose rhythms of house music and performing live on stages in nightclub settings across the world, they have bridged an impossible gulf between worlds and created new expectations for electronic producers and live musicians alike.

Their success is twofold, for not only are they stand out performers capturing the stage with Sammy D’s bold and sultry vocals, multiinstrumentalist Ryan Williams’ dextrous guitar and keys and Mikey Tello’s fluid synth work (not to mention their matching classic black tie attire) they are also musical chameleons. As comfortable creating the upbeat 80sinspired synthpop heard in lead single ‘Lullaby’, as the psychedelic funk of ‘We All Have Rhythm’ and the classic rock and roll of ‘Devil’s Run’, PillowTalk also adeptly deliver slow electronic ballads (‘Naive’) and house driven anthems (‘If I Try’) for their eloquent debut LP, ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’ on their home label Wolf + Lamb. A soundtrack to long nights, lazy days and the hazy space between sleeping and waking, the record spans everything you want from the band: sunsplashed jams, peaktime party tunes and lowlit moments of intimacy.

Outlook Festival returns to Croatia this September after last year’s best ever event to date, a celebratory fusion of dub, reggae, hip-hop, drum ‘n’ bass, garage, house and more on the dazzling Adriatic coast. Joining the dots between musical legends right through to the next generation of up and coming talent, again some of the finest live acts and DJs descend upon a 19th century fort for five days and nights of amazing music. Close to the historic city of Pula in Croatia’s northern region of Istria, the now iconic Outlook sets the agenda with a world-class array of performers in a collection of truly spectacular locations, set in and around an abandoned fort. Choose from a dungeon, a courtyard, a moat, a boat, the beach or the festival’s main stage set on a harbour. Outlook combines a heady mix of fun in the sun and under the stars as a dedication to sound culture, which has just revealed its first wave of names.

Valentin Stip – ‘Sigh’ (Other People)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , on January 29, 2014 by J.D.

OtherPeople_OP006_Valentin Stip_Sigh_LP_Cover_1600_FrontThe first full length album from Nicolas Jaar’s Other People imprint comes from Valentip Stip. Familiar for his releases on Jaar’s first label, Stip was taught to make music by the prolific electronic producer himself and now comes of age (at a ripe 21 years old) with his debut long player ‘Sigh’.

Several years ago, Valentin Stip was sitting alone by a harbor in the small French town where his parents grew up. “I heard all the sailing strings hit the masts, and I realized that every sound you hear is potentially music,” he says. “The only thing that makes sound into music is the mind, arranging it.” Since then, Valentin Stip has been building a bridge between the sounds that live inside and outside his head. On Sigh, the 21-year-old producer´s full-length debut on Other People, Stip organizes classical piano, lightly sputtering grooves and intimate found sounds into an album of compositional grace and emotional honesty.
