Jose Padilla Returns To Cafe Del Mar After 15 Years and Signs To International Feel

Balearic is a feeling – and Jose Padilla embodies that feeling.

Marking his 40th anniversary as a DJ, the hugely influential DJ that soundtracked the 1990s with his sunset sets at the Café Del Mar, announces his return to Cafe Del Mar after 15 years as well as a partnership with cult imprint, International Feel.

It was the only place, the beginning of something new, a great crowd, a magical time of unique circumstances.” Jose Padilla on Cafe Del Mar

Jose Padilla is the Godfather of Chill-Out. He has sold six million albums and inspired everyone from Madonna (who selected his Café Del Mar compilations as her ideal desert island listening) to Bestival’s Rob Da Bank and Andrew Weatherall. He’s in demand as a DJ all over the world, bringing his trademark selections of widescreen electronica, gorgeous house music and dubbed out ambient to a new generation of devotees.

Where could be a better home for Padilla than International Feel, the label that also managed to persuade DJ Harvey out of studio retirement. He’s set to release a new single, Solito in July 2014, and there’s an album coming in Spring 2015.

International Feel fly the flag for Balearic music in the right way. They’re Balearic from the beginning and it reflects on the label. They have substance.“Jose Padilla

South London Ordnance - Contact EP (HFT033)South London Ordnance
Contact EP

South London Ordnance marks his sophomore Hotflush release with an extended four-track EP that confidently flaunts his flair for brooding atmosphere.

Dark, punchy basslines informed by a distinctly UK heritage are his signature and they bind these wee-hour refrains with brassy continuity. From the futurist synthesis of lead-track “Contact” through the jungle influences pervading “Sabre” and “Ritual to Romance” to the whistle-wielding “Output”, SLO’s stamp is as compelling as it is surefooted.

This release, together with last year’s acclaimed launch of his own label, Aery Metals, a remix for Optimo, his first North American tour, show the young UK producer maturing beyond his years.
