ZEN232_PACKSHOTMachinedrum is back and you’ve never heard him like this before. The relentless pioneer and conceptualist of US electronic music has moved to Cali, fallen in love, and discovered a new warmth and beauty in his music. On his forthcoming LP, Human Energy, Travis Stewart draws on esoteric and new age concepts but makes its fun rather than dull and serious. The music astounds over and over again with the sheer brilliance of its execution and, yes, its unremitting energy. Who can say if Human Energy can heal you? It will certainly leave you with a huge, goofy smile slathered all over your face.

As a taster for this career-defining work, we bring you ‘Do It 4 U’, featuring vocals from Dawn Richard aka D∆WN. Having started out in the group Danity Kane working with P Diddy, D∆WN has now finally started to garner the success and acclaim she richly…

Romare announces new album “Love Songs: Part Two”(out 11th November on Ninja Tune)+Listen:Who Loves You?

Love Songs: Part Two, Romare A taster to celebrate the forthcoming amorous excursions which make up his second album Love Songs: Part Two, Romare presents the single Who Loves You?. Combining a punk-funk b-line, a disco rhythm, a dubbed-out vocal sample and a hundred-and-one subtle elements you’ll barely notice, ‘Who Loves You?’ is that rare thing – a dancefloor filler with real intelligence and a genuine, low-slung sexiness.

Developing and expanding upon the brilliance of his debut Projections (voted LP of year in DJ Mag and supported by likes of Bonobo, Annie Mac and Four Tet), Love Songs: Part Two cements Romare’s reputation as one of the most exciting, confident and distinctive producers in electronic music. His sample sources have changed a little too, moving from the jazz and blues which distinguished Projections to disco and psychedelic. His parents love of Irish traditional folk music, which Romare grew up with have also influenced…

Phil Kieran

Blinded By The Sun‘ sees Belfast born Phil Kieran create a ten track narrative inspired from over a decade in the electronic dance scene. His fourth album was picked up by Jamie Jones and signed to Hot Creations soon after.

The sun has inspired musicians for thousands of years and Kieran was able to draw a direct metaphor between the burning star and his experiences as a DJ. In an industry with all of it’s supposed glamour and beauty, it is the same industry that burns so many. Kieran didn’t use any samples, rather the focus is on musicians and original sounds. He wrote and produced every track apart from ‘Think Too Much’ where he teamed up with Jess Brien. The album opens up with ‘Solar Storm’ and the listener is met with the enchanting voice of Wilson Magwere, who met Kieran after fleeing for his life…
