Temple Music Group in-house producer Ben Tom blew up last year with the release of his dance floor anthem “It’s A Party” featuring Mr. V. “Corner Store Pimp”, his latest release, shows off a different side, one that is deeper, richer, and more cutting edge. “40 Ounces” is a perfect example of the new forms emerging from the San Francisco house scene in 2010. The warm, dubby bass lines are still the same flavor you’d expect from a Temple Music Group release but the melodies are complex and bursting with the kind of energy missing in most of today’s deep house tracks.

Continuing in our relentless pursuit of new sounds, the Corner Store Pimp E.P. features an equally forward thinking b-side remix from Jaswho? He delicately balances the line between slammin’ bass line funk and the indelible sweetness of precision sculpted after hours house for something entirely new.

On the flipside, Tom tacks on the smokers’ delight cut “Swisher Sweets” to emphasize that deep down inside, the corner store pimp just likes to party and get down with dope beats and blunts. Based on a solid SF house foundation, the track pays homage to America’s favorite herb in many clever ways with Tom layering in some tasty G-funk’d Juno synth lines for a nice sprinkling of “Cali love” on top.

Artist Information:Ben Tom
Raised in San Francisco’s Chinatown district, Ben Tom approaches music much as he does life, with a humble determination to walk his own path and loyalty to those who matter most. Behind the decks, Ben moves seamlessly from soulful house to electro techno, weaving pop and hip-hop vocals over dance-inducing tracks that keep the crowd on the floor while fluidly crossing genres and flirting with unexpected sound combinations. On stage, his expert focus and ability to select just what the audience needs just when they need it are hallmarks of his performances.

In the studio, Tom lets his instincts take over and trusts sound to be the guide. Whether he’s crafting vocal-driven tracks like the forthcoming Mixed Up, which features Temple Music Group’s Isabel Lozano, working his magic on upcoming collaborations with the likes of New York’s hip-hop DJ Mr. V or stirring up radio-ready remixes with co-conspirator JasWho? (a.k.a. Jason Williams) under the moniker Black Wangz, Ben uses his keen sound sensibilities and appreciation for music across genres to deliver releases with wide-reaching appeal.

Remix Artists:
JasWho? aka Jay Williams
Resident artist at Temple SF, San Francisco’s largest nightclub. He is one of the founders of Soulmine Records, a Bay Area indie house label established in 1999. JasWho?’s music has been licensed for ringtones, TV shows, and feature films. You can find him recording at Moulton Studios as one of the members of 40 Thieves, touring with the bands Spigga and Playground People, and producing artists at Temple Studios SF, and Soulmine Studios, Oakland, CA.

James Amato’s business-savvy approach to the music industry has kept him balancing roles of promoter, record label owner, DJ and producer for more than a decade. From hosting his first one-off event in 1999 to securing his position as Director of Music and Bookings at Chicago’s historically influential SmartBar since 2006, James has become one of the most widely recognized names on the national & electronic music scene. Most recently, James has established his industry presence further, launching his widely successful fidget/electo/tech house label, Potty Mouth Music, which has earned him notoriety worldwide.

James launched his music career in his native city of Milwaukee, Wis., where he climbed through the promotional ranks of the local and Midwest rave scene in the 1990s. After working at pioneering electronic music venues—including Revolutions Records and Bassment with promoter and mentor Steven Kaye—he landed the position of Saturday Night Music Director and resident DJ at Milwaukee’s Pure nightclub. At the time, Pure stood as the city’s premiere underground music venue, boasting a six-figure sound system and sprawling capacity.

In 2004, James invested back into the industry by becoming co-owner and director of music and bookings at Milwaukee’s Mantra Lounge. Here he launched Kamasutra, a legendary Friday event that ran for three successful years. Kamasutra would go on to host an unprecedented line-up of electronic music talent the city had never seen before, or has ever seen since. As the night’s promoter, James booked a versatile roster of underground artist that defied genre boarders. The consistent success of Kamasutra put the city’s club scene on the national radar, as it garnered press attention from publications including URB and earned James a front-page cover story in Nightclub/Bar Magazine. His success also earned him runner-up for the “Best Promoter” in the U.S. by URB magazine, along with several pictorial Kamasutra spreads throughout 2005. Locally, James earned several press accolades, including “Best Club DJ” in Milwaukee’s 2005 Shepherd Express readers’ poll.

In September 2006, James relocated to Chicago to become the new Director of Music and Bookings at Chicago’s SmartBar, a historic venue with a 25-year tradition of showcasing electronic talent. Under the guidance of owner Joe Shanahan James continues broaden his scope as a promoter and bookings director, debuting innovative artists to Chicago, including Switch, Alan Braxe, Digitalism, Para One, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan and Claude Vonstroke.

In 2008, Club Systems International recognized his efforts to diversify and promote Chicago’s electronic music scene by selecting him as one of its “Next 10 Exciting Up-and-Comers” as part of its annual VIP Edition—“Nightlife’s 30 Most Influential People.” Additionally, James has received critical Chicago fanfare in 2007, when he was named part of NewCity magazine’s “45—45 Most Influential People That Rock Chicago!”

James’ promotional rise on the underground electronic scene led to his creation of two widely success digital/vinyl labels, including his 2007 venture, Potty Mouth Music, which showcases a diverse roster of fidget and tech house producers. With artists including: Santiago & Bushido, Crookers, HiJack, DJ Fame, The Bulgarian, and HeavyFeet, Potty Mouth Music has established itself as an innovative label embracing the newer dirty-quirky union of electro, house and techno. The label earned further notoriety in 2008, when label members Santiago & Bushido claimed the number-one downloaded track spot for their Potty Mouth single, “Head Trick,” claiming the spot for three consecutive weeks on The digital download site is the second most-trafficked music internet site in the world.

Recently in October of 2009, James relocated to Los Angeles and continues to push the industry envelope in balancing his career as a promoter and label-owner. His dedication in the studio and in the club continues to the industry standard of the international electronic music scene.

Artists -Junesex
Promotion -La Bellevilloise, Paris – Venue
For Eros 69 festival, Junesex celebrated 40 years of sexual freedom mixing guitar riffs and sexy moves in a hot live performance.

Junesex a mis le feu au Festival Eros 69 avec ses riffs de guitare moites et ses postures sexy… Une belle célébration de 40 ans de liberté sexuelle!

About Junesex
Put together in 2002, through work, chance and love meetings,Junesex spent their first two years defining a sound and making an album completly disrespecting rules, codes and gender barriers.
They released “So Fucking Chic” in 2004 with a mission to inject fresh air in the world of pop probably the only album where you can find warped out approaches on rap, hard rock, electro, ballads, and 4/4 floorfillers side by side.
You could be on a dancefloor and be hit by their cover of run dmc’s ‘u b illin’ (or how to make people dance to a baroque recorder) or their infectuous housey anthem ‘get’s close to mine’.
rock, groove, pop, electronic, indie radios and press all followed each playing or writing about a different side of junesex.
Studio band at the time they, then went on to put a live act together, and they managed with a combinasion of sequencers drum machines keyboards bass, guitar, effects and percussions to translate their unique sound and energy on stage
Gigs followed trough out France and Germany.
Time was then spent making babies, building a studio and producing friends like toothless dancer finally Junesex got together for their second opus,
Sex In Times Of War, out in february 2009 with one idea in mind, just more. Junesex wants more sound, more emotions, more trance, more love, more fun, more sex…
You can get a hint at what is coming by checking out the two first singles the ballad of tom scraw remixed by the minimal goddess chloe and worst than love with remixes from losoul and gilb’r and a juicy cover of iggy pop’s classic nightclubbing.
in the meantime junesex is testing the new album live in france to great public acclaim many tried to sum it up : pop, minimal folk, electro funk, house, rock, acid love, chic sex, bodily fluids
only one label fits: JUNESEX
Active since: 01/01/2002
Style: Electronic, Electro, Rock, Rock & Roll

Amidst the countless DJ’s and producers working in the burgeoning Chicago house scene, Santiago and Bushido stand apart from the rest with their unique blend of tech-tinged house beats and killer remixes that are becoming quite the sought-after commodity. Since teaming up as a production duo in 2003, Chris Santiago and Tim Bush have dropped numerous EP’s and remixes on some of the most well respected labels around including Potty Mouth, Om, Ultra, and have generated a significant following in the process. Their unique sound and flawless DJ sets have helped to establish Santiago & Bushido as one of the premier acts in dance music today.

Their track ‘Head Trick’ was one of the true dance anthems of 2008, a major crossover success receiving play and charting from many of the globe’s top DJ’s such as Moby, DJ Tiesto, Switch, Armin Van Buren, and Diplo. Head Trick was the # 1 most downloaded song in January 2008, and the #8 most downloaded of the entire year on, the world’s top online site for electronic music. Santiago & Bushido followed the success of Head Trick with a number of critically acclaimed releases and remixes including a massive remix of Kaskade’s Billboard # 1 hit single Move For Me, a reworking of Larry Tee’s Louis Vuitton, and their original single Can’t Be Wrong which has been licensed to numerous complications such as Ministry of Sound. In addition to belting out club tracks Santiago and Bushido have worked with Om recording artist Colette on her artist album “Push” for which they wrote and produced multiple songs including the album’s single, “If,” which was licensed for an episode of Real World for “MTV” and can also be purchased as a ring tone from Verizon.

Having been intimately involved with music his entire, life Bushido picked up his first pair of turntables and sampler on his 16th birthday and immediately went to work mixing, sampling, and cutting up any piece of vinyl he could get his hands on. His carefully crafted DJ sets caught the ears of some of Chicago’s nightlife elite and he soon found himself playing all over the city. Tim spent his days working at Chicago Recording Company, sharing the same recording space with the likes of R.Kelly and Smashing Pumpkins among others. By working alongside some of Chicago’s most well respected engineers at CRC, Bushido honed his engineering and production prowess until opportunity knocked.

While Bushido was mastering his craft, Santiago was working his way up the Chicago’s nightlife hierarchy. Within one year of playing live gigs, he secured a Friday night residency at Zentra Nightclub’s House Arrest, and within a year he would be playing to Chicago’s most musically educated and up-for-it partiers as an exclusive resident at “World’s Best Dance Club”, Smartbar, joining the halls of dance icons that have enjoyed similar slots there (including other current residents Kaskade and Justin Long).

As DJ’s, Santiago & Bushido draw influence from their Chicago house background and apply harder and heavier elements to their sound. Santiago & Bushido are regularly headlining and appearing at some of the best parties in the US and beyond including Avalon in LA, Decibel Festival in Seattle, and Bed in Miami. Recent shows have them playing along side some of the hottest talent around today such as Deadmau5, Crookers, and Kaskade. Their 2009 dates include a multi-city tour in Australia, multiple trips to Europe, and regular gigs in North America.

Hockey – Mind Chaos

Posted in *Introducing, Artists Profile, Newcomer, News on April 16, 2009 by J.D.

Portland, Oregon Band’s “Too Fake” Single And Video Available Now, Vinyl on May 19th And MIND CHAOS Album Out On August 25th

Festival Appearances Confirmed At Sasquatch On May 24th
and Bonnaroo on June 11th.

“Too Fake” Video Added At MTVU

“See them now while they are still playing small rooms,” – Time Out New York.
“Get used to this band, they’ll be around a lot.” – NME
“The band who might just provide the soundtrack to 2009.” – Arena Magazine

For a band that named its forthcoming Capitol Records debut album MIND CHAOS, which will be released on August 25th, the collective thinking on modern dance-rockers HOCKEY is already crystal-clear: this is a band set for a worldwide breakout this year.

With a cohesive album marked by ingenious, assured song craft and fresh, loose-limbed new-wave-flavored dance-rock propulsion — “debauched, joy-inducing floor-fillers, “ according to Arena Magazine — HOCKEY may have already located and embodied the zeitgeist of 2009 with lyrics and an outlook that’s both “soulful and knowingly sarcastic” (Arena).

HOCKEY played four hotly-anticipated gigs at the famed South By Southwest music festival in mid-March, following a series of downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn shows that stoked a chorus of on-line cheers and a notice in Paste Magazine’s 10 New Artists to Watch in 2009. Two smashingly successful visits to the U.K. in December and in February (with Passion Pit) have built Hockey’s international momentum right up to the U.S. release of the kick-off “Too Fake” single, whose video and digital single is available now and a vinyl 7-inch will be available May 19. The video has been officially added at mtvU and has seen play on LOGO and mun2. MtvU has also selected Hockey to participate in their “Ahead Of The Curve” initiative with promo spots running on the network and April 20th and continuing throughout 2009.

The band is currently on a series of April appearances on the West Coast, some with Friendly Fires, and will cross the Atlantic with Friendly Fires for another month-long U.K. swing with them later this month. While in the UK, Hockey is confirmed to appear on the popular BBC late night show “Later with Jools Holland” on April 21st.

Formed in Los Angeles five years ago by founders Ben Grubin, lead singer, and Jeremy “Jerm” Reynolds on bass, HOCKEY is now based in Portland, Oregon as a quartet with Brian White on guitar, and Anthony Stassi on drums. MIND CHAOS was released independently, and the group signed to Capitol late in 2008. The album will be remixed and remastered, with new songs added, for the August 25th, 2009 international release.

With “song away” acting as a holistic mission statement wrapped in a nod and a wink, “These scruffy bike-riding vegans could easily be enjoyed by fans of Dylan, Springsteen and the Hold Steady as much as they could by devotees of LCD Soundsystem” says U.K.’s Guardian newspaper. “See them now while they are still playing small rooms,” advises Time Out New York.
