Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 1, 2014 by dk

Future Disco presents Poolside Sounds Vol. 3Future Disco’s summer soundtrack is back for another fresh slice of sunshine sounds, hypnotic late night house stirred in with fresh daytime disco.
The third installment of Future Disco’s ‘Poolside Sounds’ picks up neatly where the last compilation left off, carefully balancing the emerging sounds of the underground with a wealth of Electronic music’s leading lights to craft another of the summers essential albums.
The mix itself submerges you in the deep-end with a journey of luscious, warm melodies, that then moves into a more driving house sound; perfectly fitting the title of a scorching soundtrack. The album features 18 tracks of the usual high quality mixes and edits of future stars and established acts including Basement Jaxx, Bonobo, Hot Since 82, Guy Gerber and Joe Goddard (of Hot Chipfame). We also welcome Kompakt’s Records’ Kölsch, newcomer Jad & The Lady Boy and Akra (the side project of Nick Woolfson from Mock & Toof), for their inaugural release, plus Future Disco series favourites Mario Basanov, Miguel Campbell and Maya Jane Coles who, as ever, masterfully capture the Poolside Sound.
Future Disco itself goes from strength to strength with a growing catalogue of popular albums and events worldwide including a string of dates in Ibiza and Croatia. Additionally a weekly radio show continues to grow an army of fans across the globe and showcase the Future Disco sound.

DJ Sneak & Phil Weeks pres. Bubba Beats & Kid Piston(preview)

What’s it all about?
Two of house music’s biggest hitters – DJ Sneak and Phil Weeks – get together for a highly anticipated three-track collaboration.  Under the alias of Bubba Beats and Kid Piston (we’ll let you decide which is which!) the 102nd release on Robsoul has a distinct acid theme as the two masters take things back to basics, working it out on original hardware.

What does it sound like?
As the title’s suggest, ‘Breakdown Acid’ and ‘Acid Disko’ bring acidic 303 flavours to complement the typical punishing beats and jacking grooves that Sneak and Phil are so well known for.  ‘Class In Session’ treads a lighter, funkier path but the hypnotic and devastating end result proves just as effective.

Who’s involved?
What can be said about DJ Sneak that hasn’t been said before!  As one of the second wave of influential house producers coming out of Chicago in the early 1990’s (he was born in Puerto Rico and moved to the Windy City in the early 80’s) he has released hundreds of records and remixes and is a true A-list DJ on the worldwide circuit.  Innovator to many, Sneak’s love for music inspired others like Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and Armand Van Helden.

Since 2000 Phil Weeks has released his own unique brand of house music on some of the world’s leading underground labels including 2020 Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul, which is responsible for the majority of his original output.  He has also graced more mainstream imprints along the way such as Cr2 and Toolroom.

Tricky – Time To Dance Remixes (preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 11, 2011 by dk

Tricky is to release Time To Dance (RUG417D), from his most recent album Mixed Race, as a digital single on Monday the 18th of July 2011. The single will feature remixes from Maya Jane Coles, Doorly and FiFi Rong.
Mixed Race was released last September to great critical acclaim. Tricky has since completed tours of the UK, Australia, Europe and South America with many sold out shows. Tricky will be headlining Blissfields Festival in Winchester on July 2nd before heading into the studio with some interesting electronic artists – full details to follow!

The Time To Dance remixes have already been picking up support from a broad spectrum of dance music’s elite including Ramon Tapia, Plump DJs, John Selway, Groove Armada, Sister Bliss, Kruse & Nuernberg, Mighty Mouse, Hector Romero and Nick Warren. Here is further information on the remixers themselves:

With covers of Mixmag and DJ Mag Weekly already under her belt, and a Radio 1 Essential Mix landing in July, 23-yr old Maya Jane Coles is the rising producer/DJ on everyone’s lips. Support for her productions are as wide ranging as Skream to Scuba on the dubstep side through to Jamie Jones and Laurent Garnier on the house front. As a remixer in her own right Maya has remixed artists from MSTRKRFT through to Todd Terry and as one half of dub-electronica duo She is Danger, her credits include Massive Attack, Delphic and Gorillaz.

The second mix on the package comes from blogger’s favourite, Doorly. The Ibiza Rocks resident has been making just as many waves from Sydney to London as he has in the Balearics – most recently on a 30-date arena tour of North America supporting Rusko. Famed for his ‘Pigeon Hole This’ label and attitude; Doorly’s remix credits list to many to mention but include Prodigy, Groove Armada, Dizzee Rascal, Basement Jaxx and Sia with the likes of Fake Blood, Tiga, Shy FX and Soulwax supporting them at club.

And finally, the third remix comes from FiFi Rong. Signed to Tricky’s Brown Punk label, FiFi Rong is one of London’s freshest talents producing from Dubstep through to UK Funky.
