Out February 3rd on Dreamy Bird / Cadiz Music

Ten years as a singer and guitar player in various modern rock and electro bands paved the way for French songwriter Arno Sojo’s new solo incarnation, of a somewhat different nature. Aptly named Sweet Gum Tree and influenced by the timeless beauty of refined vintage records, it merely embodies his quest for a smoother, more organic sound.

Initially intriguing French audiences from 2010 to 2012 with a trickle of singles and Eps showcasing a poetic chamber pop, praised as ‘lush’ and ‘spellbinding’ in the press, Sweet Gum Tree was soon sharing stages with such names as Heather Nova and Gaëtan Roussel.

This year saw him put the final touches to his forthcoming debut album, a collection of thoughtful bittersweet ballads tinged with dreamy melancholia. It was produced by David Odlum (Gemma Hayes) and Peter Deimel (Deus, Anna Calvi) at Studio Black Box in the French countryside. Among the guest musicians who joined the sessions, the stellar Isobel Campbell duets on ‘Bird of Passage’.

Not exactly a first for Arno, who in his early days already got to sing with one of his female icons, French popstar Buzy, when he started out as her live guitarist. That was before setting up his own band, Sojo Glider, in 2003. The pop-rock quartet released three albums and even recorded in New York with producer Malcolm Burn (Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith). Soon Arno was offered to collaborate with classical arranger Eric Voegelin, so the occasion arose to experiment with more acoustic textures, giving birth to Sweet Gum Tree.

Tindersticks drummer Earl Harvin, as well as Marty Willson-Piper (from Australian legends The Church), two of Arno’s strongest influences, not only played on the album but will also join Sweet Gum Tree’s live band, along with a string section, for his first UK tour this winter :

Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment are excited to announce the initial lineup for the 2011 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The 10th annual four-day camping and music festival will be held on June 9 – 12 on the same beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville. A full list of confirmed acts follows, and more will be announced in the coming weeks. The final Bonnaroo 2011 lineup will total over 125 bands and over 20 comedians performing on 13 stages over four days.Tickets for the event will go on sale on this Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 12noon eastern exclusively at
The 2011 event marks the 10th year for the legendary festival, which began in 2002 as a remarkable idea to serve a passionate yet underappreciated and overlooked fanbase, and ended up becoming the premier multi-day concert destination of the summer whose dynamic and eclectic programming paved the way for the age of the great American music festival. This year’s lineup is yet another fine example of the incomparable eclecticism for which Bonnaroo has become famous. Featured acts include: Eminem, Arcade Fire, Widespread Panic, The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket and Lil’ Wayne, String Cheese Incident, Robert Plant & Band of Joy, Mumford & Sons, The Strokes, The Decemberists, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Florence + the Machine, Girl Talk, Primus, Big Boi, Gregg Allman, Robyn, Deerhunter, Sleigh Bells, Amos Lee, Opeth, Del McCoury and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Wanda Jackson, The Walkmen and an exclusive festival performance by Buffalo Springfield featuring Richie Furay, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Rick Rosas and Joe Vitale. This year’s lineup will again cement Bonnaroo as a force in music discovery, exposing its fans to legendary artists, current favorites, as well as breaking acts.
As one of the special programming highlights of its 10th year, Bonnaroo is excited to announce a rare joint appearance by Dr. John and The Original Meters recreating, in its entirety, the legendary 1974 album Desitively Bonnaroo, the source of the festival’s moniker. Another celebratory aspect to the programming, organizers have confirmed Eugene Hutz as the curator of this year’s specialty venue, dubbed “Global Gypsy Punk Revue.” Continuing Bonnaroo’s tradition as a platform for historic collaborations, the festival is announcing the return of the SuperJam featuring Dr. John, the Black Key’s Dan Auerbach and more to be announced soon.
As the only round-the-clock major U.S. music festival, Bonnaroo packs an unparalleled amount of entertainment options into its four days. The event has offered its attendees the amenities and community spirit of a small city, with 24 hours of activities including a comedy theater, cinema festival, broo’ers festival, silent disco, salon, sustainable gardening lessons, arcade, Internet cafés, restaurants, yoga classes and hundreds of high quality craft vendors. About the 2010 event, Rolling Stone hailed, “In its ninth year, Bonnaroo has done an impressive job of hanging on to its reputation as one of the most eclectic music and arts festivals,” while the Wall Street Journal called it “one of rock’s best festivals,” and MTV claimed, “If you’re angling for a road trip – there’s no better destination.”
In celebration of Bonnaroo’s 10th year and in recognition of the festival’s iconic status, Ben & Jerry’s will be making Bonnaroo Buzz available for purchase in pints in frozen foods freezers across the country as the company has selected it to be one of its prestigious flavors for 2011. Bonnaroo Buzz is the flavor Ben & Jerry’s designed in 2010 specifically in honor of the festival. Until now, it was only available in Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops.

Moksha- Mammal Or Machine

The powerhouse Moksha—whose name, appropriately, means “liberate” in Hindi—has been blistering audiences in their hometown ofLas Vegas with a similar hard to contain sound that guitarist Jeremy Parks calls, “An anything goes approach to music.” While they’ve traditionally embraced the “jam band” tag that fans and raving critics have given them, the band—which also includes John Heishman (bass, vocals), Patrick Gray (drums), and Brian Triola (organ/keys, vocals) —is crossing over with wider main stream appeal, thus releasing their highly anticipated debut, Mammal Or Machine.

Mammal Or Machine features Santana’s horn section, saxman Peter Apfelbaum, guest vocalists Angela Kerfoot and Sam Lemos,DJ Logic and New Orleans guitar legend Brian Stoltz (Funky Meters, Neville Brothers, Bob Dylan). Moksha succeeds in capturing a multi-faceted sound that, as they like to say, is “swirling in subtlety, painting a sonic landscape that unfolds in the moment and feeds on the dynamic ebb and flow of audience and band interconnection.” To achieve this, the group recorded about half of the eleven tracks live in the studio.
Aside from their whirlwind sound, the two most fascinating elements of Moksha’s live performances are the unique set lists-never playing the same set list twice-and a powerful audio visual element incorporating the talents of numerous local Las Vegas artists. In a town where full scale entertainment a la Cirque Du Soleil is the norm, having body painters, art installation wall projections and performers such as magician Jeff McBride accompanying the band helps them stand out.

You can see how Moksha is making a name for them selfs in Las Vegas with there art filled shows by going to:
