joe brunning soul mattersJoe Brunning is no stranger to success. Having written what will surely be remembered as one of the biggest dance music anthems of all times – Joe Brunning’s ‘Let Me See You Work’ established Joe as a major contender in the electronic music scene and allowed for the creation of what can only be described as a modern day musical masterpiece.

Soul Matters is a true artist album that reconciles the works that Joe has meticulously penned over the years into something beautiful and real. With 18 original works on the album, the breadth of the music encompassed is verging on perfection. Soul Matters will take you on a journey and, like a seasoned storyteller, Joe effortlessly weaves his musical tales without regard for radio-friendly edits or contritely-timed drops. Hearing Soul Matters in its entirety is a powerful reminder of what music can do for and to us. How often do we find an album that can be heard time and again and never lose its bewitching and seductive qualities?

When the music is good, the fans will find it and this is an album that begs to be adored. It’s alive and full of rampant emotions that glean the soul like a lovers embrace. Passion, playfulness, sadness and elation are all welcome visitors on Soul Matters, all of whom come together to deliver something truly magical for the wanton listener.

Carl Cox has publicly extolled Joe Brunning an amazing producer, DJ and songwriter and now he takes his commendations one step further by way of signing Soul Matters to his famed imprint, Intec Digital.

I just loved this album from start to finish and I knew when I heard it I had to put it out on Intec. It’s one of the few albums that I can find new things in each time I listen and I just think it is incredibly special in that way. Musically, it blows me away- so many things to love right here!” Carl Cox

Blu Mar Ten new album 'Famous Lost Words'Blu Mar Ten
‘Famous Lost Words’
(Blu Mar Ten Music)
Release Date: 18th November 2013

After establishing their own label, Blu Mar Ten Music, in 2009 and releasing the critically acclaimed albums ‘Natural History’ (2009) and ‘Love is the Devil’ (2011), winter 2013 sees the arrival of Blu Mar Ten’s highly anticipated new LP, ‘Famous Lost Words’.

Featuring 13 tracks of pure and unapologetic drum & bass, the album inhabits a similar territory to the previous two; full of emotional movements fused with tough beats that reinforce BMT’s position in the genre as originators of complex, atmospheric music.

Brooding dancefloor destroyers like ‘Ariel’ and ‘Holding Pattern’ deliver rugged basslines and harsh drums, contrasting beautifully with the more fragile and otherworldly soundscapes of title track ‘Famous Lost Words’ and ‘Night Shift’. ‘Big Shots’ and ‘Motor City’ serve up frantic layers of euphoria while ‘Remembered Her Wrong’ wanders off into the bizarrely abstract.
‘Famous Lost Words” 71 minute duration also features an impressive roster of collaborators. ‘Thin Air’ layers the alluring vocals of Robert Manos atop a bed of whirling synths and rolling bass. Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Agné Genyté injects a dose of soothing lullaby tones into ‘Somewhere’, ‘Break It All Apart’ and ‘In Your Eyes’, while long-time friend and label mate Seba makes an appearance on ‘Hunter’ whose growling bass and Bladerunner synths play to the strengths of both artists.

Accompanying the ‘Famous Lost Words’ project is a set of live dates around Europe. Beginning at pivotal label/club night, Hospitality in Bristol, the mini tour then travels to the likes of Russia, Germany, Ireland, Finland and BMT’s native London.

Track List:
1. Somewhere (feat. Agné Genyté)
2. Hunter (feat. Seba)
3. Big Shots
4. Famous Lost Words
5. Thin Air (feat. Robert Manos & Yosebu)
6. Holding Pattern
7. Break It All Apart (feat. Agné Genyté)
8. Half The Sky
9. Remembered Her Wrong

Cielo Sunrise
Mixed By Nicolas Matar
March 6, 2012
Nervous Records

New York City dance music institutions Nervous Records and Cielo unite once again with the March 6 release of “Cielo Sunrise” – mixed by Nicolas Matar. This compilation arrives as Cielo celebrates nine great years in NYC’s Meatpacking District. Over the years, the club has defined itself as a global dance music brand with a successful compilation series, dedication to quality music programming and superior Funktion One sound in an intimate club setting. In 2011, Cielo also became home to Nervous Records own branded music events which take place on the first Tuesday of each month.

Nicolas Matar’s musical style is very diverse, encompassing everything from Deep House, Soulful House, Nu-Jazz, Techno, to Disco Classics – and this is reflected in his gorgeous “Sunrise” mix. With tracks and remixes from Guy Gerber. DJ T, Parker Pooley, Layo & Bushwacka!, Martin Dawson & Glimpse, Humate, Vincenzo, YouANDewan, Jimpster and many more, this mix perfectly captures the programming at Cielo on any given night.

When first opened Cielo was a neighborhood pioneer in the Meatpacking District, establishing roots in an area best known for meat warehouses and unsightly characters. Since then the area has developed into a hub of designer hotels, fashion boutiques and high-end restaurants. To this day, the club has never strayed from its vision of being a music-driven dance venue and over the years established itself as one of the top clubs in the world. The venue’s one-room design and sunken dancefloor provides an intimate connection between the DJ and clubber that is unparalleled. “Cielo has been a labor of love from the very beginning for all those involved. Everything we do is for the love of dance music – from the sound, hospitality, lighting, and quality of music, all are designed to provide a superior night of clubbing,” Matar says

The club serves as host for two of the longest running weekly parties in the U.S. The legendary Body & Soul doyen Francois K helms Deep Space Mondays and house music legends Louie Vega & Kevin Hedge host Roots Wednesdays. Over the last year, the club has also seen its share of global superstar DJs including, Laurent Garnier, Luciano, Carl Cox and Danny Tenaglia. Nine years from its inception, Cielo still strives for excellence, never straying from its original vision and constantly delivering as an international clubbing destination for both DJs and clubbers.

Hundred Strong-Time featuring Amp Fiddler (Andreas Saag remix) by extramusicnew

The multi-layered EP includes the album title track ‘Stylin’ Free’ with a bass remix from Duffstep, who has emerged charmingly onto the UK scene this year. His 2-step take on ‘Stylin’ Free’ manages to nourish Amp Fiddler’s soulful vocals whilst creating his own recognisable soulful sound, the two complimenting each other
perfectly. Also featuring on the Amp Fiddler EP is Andreas Saag’s with three spectacular house remixes of Hundred Strong’s ‘Time’. Andreas is one of Scandinavia’s top producers in the house and club jazz scene. His music is played by the likes of Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier as well as catching the attention of heavy hitters like Gilles Peterson and the Bugz crew. Andreas’s remixes of Saint Germain’s Rose Rouge on GAMM and Joy Orbison’s Hyph Mngo have made their mark on the musical map and his remixes of ‘Time’ are nothing less then uniformly excellent.
Amp Fiddler’s vocals accompanied by Saag’s deep blend of elevating house mixes have set each other of beautifully, we expect big things for Saag in 2011.‘Stylin’ Free is an artful album with an authentic touch, you can check out the video for ‘Stylin’ Free’
