The “Eve of Destruction” cover is a stand alone track and video that The Great Void will be releasing before their upcoming full length album, Shift Age (Sept 4th)

The Great Void
The Great Void is the brainchild of Brooklyn producer and electronic musician Josh Ascalon. His obsession with analog synthesizers began at age 14 when he started experimenting with their expansive sonic capabilities. Musically, this experimentation continues to be the driving force behind his unique brand of left-field electronic pop. Writing, recording and mixing his forthcoming debut album himself, he draws on themes of imagination, futurism, and the infinite possibilities of existence. Josh has been active in NYC’s music scene for many years and in 2010 he co-founded Rad Studio along with George Lewis Jr (Twin Shadow) and Damon Dorsey. He has worked on records by Neon Indian, Hooray for Earth, Das Racist, Chairlift, Twin Shadow, Acrylics, and Cities Aviv.

Shift Age is the debut album from producer and electronic musician Josh Ascalon, aka The Great Void. For the recording of Shift Age, Josh set specific creative parameters which banned the use of software-synths, plug-ins, and digital sequencing. Forsaking modern studio conveniences for a more hands-on and intensively crafted approach. Recording, producing and mixing the record himself, the album features contributions from like-minded musicians such as Alan Palomo (Neon Indian), Noel Heroux (Hooray for Earth), George Lewis Jr. (Twin Shadow) Morgan Whirledge (Chrome Canyon) and Joe Stickney (Bear in Heaven, Autre Ne Veut). On stage, The Great Void is joined by a full band, transforming his recordings into dynamic and high energy performances.

DENA – “Guest List” (Official Music Video)

dena guestlist‘Guestlist’ is the brand new single from Berlin based Denitza Torodrove AKA DENA, released worldwide on 23rd November. The tongue and cheek lyrics offer a poignant juxtaposition to the political message of the single which addresses immigration control issues in her native Bulgaria. The video, also shot in her homeland, offers a glimpse of the glamorous side of Eastern Europe and provides a suitable backdrop to DENA’s unique brand of pop, 90’s inspired hip-hop and Balkan beats. ‘Guestlist’ follows singles ‘Thin Rope’ and ‘Cash, Diamond Rings, Swimming Pools which came out on French label Kitsune earlier this year, rapidly reaching more than 800,000 views on Youtube.

After featuring on both The Whitest Boy Alive records and since moving to Berlin in 2005, DENA has spent time honing here self-composed beats and finding her signature sound, before stepping into the limelight and gaining international recognition for her unique and fresh flavour. Support slots for the likes of Das Racist, Icona Pop, The Whitest Boy Alice and LCMDF and a jam packed schedule at SXSW earlier this year have seen her live show grow from strength to strength and led to a notable nomination by leading German media Spiegel as one of the Top 10 international Pop-acts to rise in 2013.
DENA is currently touring Europe with a London show confirmed for the 17th October (venue TBC.) She is also putting the final touches on her debut album together with Finnish producer Jonas Verwijnen, due for release early 2014.
