Timo Maas Announces New Single ‘Tantra’(Stream)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 2, 2013 by E.N.

Timo Maas - Tantra‘Tantra’ is the new single from German polymath, Timo Maas. Taken from his latest artist album, ‘Lifer’, the track is the latest release during a vintage year for the acclaimed German DJ and producer.

As expected with any Rockets & Ponies release, the label has assembled a crack squad of remixers includingTom Demac (who’s about to drop a forthcoming collaboration with Will Samson on Aus), James Teej (the My Favourite Robot boss returns the favour for Timo’s reworking of ‘Liking Your Disorder’), Atelier Francesco
(a new project and accompanying pseudonym from an already eclectic Italian producer) and Wolfgang Haffner (the ECHO music award-winning German drummer famous for his work with Nightmares On Wax and beyond).

Timo’s first new artist album for several years, Lifer, included guest spots from Mikill Pane, Placebo’s Brian Molko, U.N.K.L.E’s James Lavelle, Katie Cruel and more. The album arrived on the cusp of a summer season that saw him celebrate 10 years as a resident at DC10 in Ibiza, alongside shows at Used & Abused with Loco Dice, and the ANTS opening and closing events at Ushuaia.

Farther afield, Timo played standout parties for My Favorite Robot at Sonar (on the beach and a hotel rooftop), plus US gigs at New York’s Cielo club and at Wavefront – all in addition to his hectic globe-traversing schedule. Details on his forthcoming US and South American tour dates will be released soon.

Outside of ‘Lifer’, this year Timo produced, ‘Pop A Bubble’, his own original contribution to Cocoon’s 100th release compilation, and remixes for James Teej on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label and Johnny Mikes on Lower East Records; reworkings that added to a remix pedigree that includes Madonna, Depeche Mode, Muse, Fatboy Slim and beyond.

Timo’s remix for Hackman is due in late January 2014 on LA’s HaloCyan Records. The next remix EP from ‘Lifer’comes complete with remixes from The Martinez Brothers, Maetrik (Maceo Plex), Addison Groove, Fur Coat, Livio & Roby, and Luca Lozano, and is due in December.

Ever at ease straddling the somewhat disparate worlds of underground electronic music culture and credible muso pop, Timo and his production partner, Santos, created Rockets & Ponies for both their own productions, and outings from the likes of Maetrik, Tobi Neumann, Riva Starr, Giorgio Roma and more, and they continue to welcome new talent to the imprint. The next single is from Wolfgang Haffner, backed by remixes from Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbauer, Nightmares on Wax, Timo Maas & Acid Mondays.

Nigel Hayes – Tales From The Shed Part 3 (Preview Clips)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 28, 2011 by E.N.

What’s it all about?
Just over one year since Nigel Hayes penned the first two volumes of ‘Tales From The Shed’, he now releases parts 3 and 4 on London’s Intelligent Audio.  Nigel Hayes original material is extremely rare these days – aside from Intelligent Audio his last dance record came out in 2004, yet he remains one of the most respected players in house and techno. In IA he has found the perfect partner label to reflect his ethos.

What does it sound like?
In customary IA fashion the release is split into two releases, one focused on House/Techno and the other allowing the artist to explore their full creativity with a more eclectic selection.  IA1.6 sees Nigel providing 4 tracks in the Deep/Tech House and Techno genres while IA2.6 is a blend of Afro-Beat, Funk and Broken Beat, with all tracks underpinned by live instrumentation.

Who’s involved?
After taking some time out following his albums ‘….but is it art?’ and ‘it’s your move’ on Sunshine Recordings, Nigel Hayes returned to production in 2009 including going head to head with Tom Middleton on two monster remixes of Francois DuBois’ ‘Blood’ for Urban Torque – a release which became one of the biggest dancefloor rockers of 2006.  He has also remixed Motivators, Funkanala and Jobu for the much respected Here and Now Recordings as well as Ibile & Ade Sose for Bitches Brew, taking Afro-Beat in a new direction.

Since the early projects as Chaser (his partnership with Lars Sandberg aka Funk D’Void/Francois DuBois) for Soma Recordings, Nigel has always tried to blend live instrumentation with electronica and with this release he indulges his passion for both.  In 2010 Nigel and Lars Sandberg (aka Funk D’Void/Francois DuBois) started studio production work together again as Chaser (they were previously signed to Soma from 1995-2005), and released the massive ‘Bite the Bullet / Odysseys Return’ EP on Urban Torque, which received a fantastic response across the board from DJs such as Darren Emerson, Dubfire and Ian Pooley.

SIAN v PSYCATRON-Vertigo Of The Modern(Beddigi08)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on January 13, 2011 by E.N.

SIAN v PSYCATRON
Vertigo Of The Modern
1. Vertigo 1
2. Vertigo 2
3. Vertigo Elevator
(Bedrock Digital) Beddigi08
Release: 17/01/11

For those of you who remember Sian’s outstanding ‘Dreams Are Maps’ on Bedrock Digital last summer and Psycatron’s stunning remix of Mutant Clan’s ‘Persuader’ on John Digweed’s ‘Structures’ album, you will no doubt be chomping at the bit to get your ears around the first must-have tag-team release of 2011. This is HOT!!!!!
Sian’s feverish style and raw sound brings real voodoo to the dancefloor and his trademark aesthetics are hard to match. Regarded as one of the most promising upcoming acts in the techno scene today, Sian is already touring the world, rocking heaving crowds and bringing his trademark experimental DJing style to the masses via multiple outputs of explosive techno,fx and loops, cut up and edited live. His tracks instantly catch the ears of everyone from John Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Sasha, Loco Dice, Steve Bug to Carl Cox, Secret Cinema, Hernan Cattaneo, Dubfire, and have shown how a genre busting talent crosses over stylistic boundaries with ease. That is why he is so suited to the Bedrock label, with its forward-thinking music policy.
When you have interests ranging from entomology, cosmology and marine biology to psychoacoustics and the social impact of the rave generation, you tend to make unusual art. Born in Dublin, Ireland, raised gypsy style in southern Spain and constantly moving from city to city, Sian chose early to drop out of normal society, make music and DJ. Adhering more to the avant-garde way of life, he stands out as a little more bohemian than the average electronic artist, a rare, flamboyant and eccentric new talent, and one we would urge you to investigate further. Sian is a truly diverse and original talent.
Psycatron, aka Northern Irish duo Paul Hamill & Dave Oost Lievense, produce 21st century techno with tracks that combine relentless energy and groove with bundles of emotion and tension, to make for an all-encompassing sound that is perfect for those big arenas and club rooms. Their high profile productions are released on some of the world’s most respected labels, receiving props from some of the biggest names in the business and record sales flying high in the Beatport charts. Fergie (Rekluse), Carl Craig (Planet E), Christian Smith (Tronic), Will Saul (Simple), legendary Belgian label R&S Records, have all featured stunning Psycatron tracks, so it seems fitting that they have now linked up with Bedrock.
As the list of Psycatron supporters continues to grow, it starts to read like a who’s who of quality underground electronica with everyone from Ewan Pearson to Joris Voorn, DJ Hell, Dave Clarke and even Martin L Gore from Depeche Mode all getting on board.

“These guys are fantastic, definitely a name to look out for” – John Digweed
“I LOVE Psycatron” – Laurent Garnier
“Psycatron is one of the acts of the year” – Agoria
