New York City’s Jessica 6 release their debut album, See The Light, today on Peacefrog Records!  In celebration, the band has released a brand new b-side MP3 called “East West Funk”. Described by RCRD LBL as “bongos, bass, and fly-ass disco fusion” the song is perfect for your next summertime party soundtrack.

Check out the “East West Funk” MP3  HERE.

For an early listen of the full album, check out See The Light streaming in its entirety on AOL Spinner today!

See The Light opens with a classic-in-waiting, the behemoth of a single, “White Horse”, that forces you to move like a witch doctor would. “Champagne Bubbles” is the kind of gritty R&B that isn’t afraid to be as angry as it is melancholic, its piano flourishes punctuated with a heavy kick and snare. “Prisoner Of Love,” which bridges electro and freestyle, featuring a soaring vocal melody that finds Nomi and guest vocalist Antony weaving their voices around each other to a stunning effect.

Jessica 6 has been commanding dance floors for years, globetrotting from London to Miami, San Francisco to Santiago, Bergen to Belgrade, seduce the dancing, sweaty masses with an electrifying blend of disco, soul and R&B.  In celebration of their debut release, the band hits the road once again with their hypnotic live show, kicking off with an album release show in NYC, then hitting Philadelphia before heading West for a run that includes a stop at San Francisco’s Gay Pride stage.

New York label Biatch Corp to release new Ascii.Disko EP +free download

Celebrated Spanish techno artist Ascii.Disko returns to Biatch Corp for release number 13 on the label with two divergent remixes from Taster Peter and Jussi-Pekka. The original version is an intriguing slice of rough hewn techno, exactly the kind of ruggedness on the dance floor Ascii.Disko has become well-known for. Rising Italian techno producer Taster Peter significantly re-works the track in to a dark, peak hour chugger complete with rolling drums and polyrhythmic glee that cannot be easily ignored. Rounding out the three-track release is a remix from Finnish star Jussi-Pekka giving the source material a wild ride that combines a shuffling house beat, funky Latin percussion, and even a slight hint of Yello. His re-interpretation strips away the industrial strength techno edge of the original and replaces it with a warm, inviting deep house vibe that will get dance floors jumping for joy.

SEE-I’s debut Album (out 6/28) on Fort Knox Recordings+free download

SEE-I – SEE-I – Out June 28, 2011 (Fort Knox Recordings)

Fort Knox Recordings presents the debut album from See-I entitled “See-I.” Long time Fort Knox collaborators Arthur “Rootz” Steele and Archie “Zeebo” Steele bring their band’s unique brand of Reggae – injected with heavy doses of Funk, Soul, Dub and Rock – to the Fort Knox vault.  We are proud and excited to be releasing their debut album.

The story begins with two brothers, Rootz and Zeebo, who found their way from college in North Carolina via the Caribbean only to end up in Washington, DC.  It was in the cultural melting pot of the Nation’s capital that they developed their creative and musical talents.  In the heady days of the late 1980s, the brothers Steele would launch the project that has defined their lives: See-I.  They quickly became a fixture of DC’s burgeoning Reggae scene crossing paths with Reggae aficionado Eric Hilton who was determined to include them in his future projects.  Hilton was opening the Eighteenth Street Lounge and associated record label, and brought Rootz and Zeebo on board.  Throughout the 90’s and into the coming millennium they would go on to record, perform and tour with Thievery Corporation.

Then in 2005 Zeebo and Rootz started a regular Wednesday night gig at the Eighteenth Street Lounge that would see them coalescing one of the greatest live bands the city has ever seen. Slowly gathering momentum, guest musicians and members – from the Thievery Live band and the Chuck Brown band amongst others – the See-I live band would grow into a nationwide touring phenomenon, and are now considered one of America’s premier Reggae party bands.

At long last, after years of live performances, an album has been made. Produced by Zeebo, Enea Diotaiuti and Rob Myers (Sitar/Guitar with Thievery Corporation, Thunderball and Fort Knox Five), See-I’s 13-track debut album is an epic showcase of the energy, sound and talent of this exciting group. This is Reggae music for music lovers, so sit back and enjoy the ride!

About Fort Knox Recordings:

Fort Knox Recordings is the renegade funk n’ soul label from Washington DC. Established in 2003, our mission is to explore the funkier side of global music. Fort Knox is set to ‘Tell It Like It Is’ by smashing the artificial barriers established by the ‘System’ that keeps all ‘Good’ music down. Forget about tempos and genres – we want to take you back to the roots and reunite all music from our funk, dub and soul brothers – you dig? So stop being so serious, this is music, it’s supposed to be fun.

Sydney Blu
Live From Mansion
Nervous Records
June 7, 2011

On June 7, Nervous Records presents the debut CD from rising DJ/Producer/Remixer Sydney Blu. Titled, Live From Mansion, this release showcases Sydney’s DJ skills and ability to work a big club, but also leans heavily on her talents behind the boards as a producer and remixer. In fact, the compilation contains nearly 80% of Sydney’s own original productions and remixes.

Download Want Sombody – Sydney Blu & Christian Falero (Original Cover Mix )

A native of Thunder Bay, Canada, Sydney Blu went to school for audio engineering in Toronto where she spent countless hours learning the craft from studio engineers. After teaching herself Ableton Live and spending a lot of time with her producer friends like Trent Cantrelle, Christian Falero, Funkagenda, & Joel Zimmerman (AKA Deadmau5), she has completely dove into producing her own music.

Following the success of her releases (including the chart-topping ‘Give It Up For Me’ on Mau5trap Recordings being one of Beatport’s highest selling songs and making Sydney the only female electronic producer to ever have a top 10 hit on the website), Sydney Blu developed and founded her own record label Blu Music, which has produced several chart-topping singles over the past year, with her remixes of the True Blood theme ‘Bad Blood’ and a re-edit of Jefferson Airplane titled ‘Want Somebody’ topping the charts for weeks. All of Sydney’s releases received consistent support from global heavyweights such as Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Deadmau5, Roger Sanchez, Paul Oakenfold, Funkagenda, Robbie Rivera, Chuckie, Oscar G & more.

After moving to Miami in the spring of 2010, Sydney quickly set-up her residency with Opium Group and Mansion Miami – the hottest club on South Beach. In just one year Sydney’s local profile raised tremendously and culminated with her own sold out Miami Music Week 2011 “Blu Party” featuring John Dahlback, Thomas Gold, Tommy Lee and Aero feat SOFI live, Kim Fai, Trent Cantrelle, Christian Falero & Manufactured Superstars. Watch the recap

Her new home in Miami provides the backdrop for a truly exciting moment in Sydney’s career – her first artist CD – Live From Mansion. While the mix was recorded live over the course of one evening at Mansion, the project took nearly a year to complete. That’s because Sydney wanted to create a CD that was leaned heavily on her own brand new original tracks and remixes. “Its 80% my own music and it feels SO good to be finally releasing it all. Remixes, Collaborations and Original work – it’s all there. The album is representative of me as a producer, a DJ, and my signature sound all in one,” Sydney says.

2011 is already proving to be busy with original tracks and remixes set for release on Spinnin Records, Vicious Records, Funkfarm Records and Juicy Records, all leading up to the release of ‘Sydney Blu: Live at Mansion’. Catch Sydney on the road throughout the summer!

Sydney Blu – Live From Mansion is released June 7, 2011 on Nervous records.
