Psycatron – Memories Of The Moment (preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 5, 2011 by E.N.

Those of you who remember Psycatron’s stunning remix of Mutant Clan’s ‘Persuader’ from John Digweed’s first ‘Structures’ album, or the brilliant ‘Vertigo In The Modern’ (Beddigi08) with Sian, will no doubt be chomping at the bit to get your ears around this brand new single. This is HOT!!!!!
Psycatron, aka Northern Irish duo Paul Hamill & Dave Oost Lievense, produce 21st century techno with tracks that combine relentless energy and groove with bundles of emotion and tension, to make for an all-encompassing sound that is perfect for those big arenas and club rooms. Their Original Mix with its energetic, melodic, percussive groove backbone mounted on a deep, throbbing bassline, builds a drawn out brooding vibe towards an ecstatic mid-way climax before layering and building in pure, intense Psycatron style.
‘Memories Of The Moment’ has been the biggest track of the summer for Psycatron in their live sets, so you may have heard it already at the I Love Techno Festival, Global Gathering, Klubbers Day Madrid, Fabric, Berghain, Oxygen Ireland, Astrolopolis France, Baracca Valencia, The Loft Barcelona, or on their multiple dates on the Planet E 20th World Tour.
Between them, John Digweed and Nick Muir, producers of the finest electronic dance music, have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music over the years and have in many ways helped to define genres & push the boundaries further. As with all their studio productions their remix of ‘Memories Of The Moment’ is another mission statement to show that they are not resting on past laurels but always developing their sound in an exciting direction. It’s a spine-tingling, fizzing, spiralling, anthemic monster that will be huge worldwide.
Remixes for Spooky, Simian Mobile Disco and Vince Watson have all been Psycatron highlights already this year, and a single with Paul Woolford for HotFlush received critical acclaim. New singles are on the way alongside Sian and Detroit Grand Pubahs, whilst the boys are currently locked down in their studio, working on the first Psycatron long-player for release in 2012. In the meantime you can tune into their fortnightly Electric Avenue radio show on Proton, which already has 20k subscribers.

Psycatron – Memories of the Moment ( John Digweed & Nick Muir remix)

Psycatron’s high profile productions have been popping up on some of the world’s most respected labels, receiving props from some of the biggest names in the business and record sales flying high in the Beatport charts. Fergie (Rekluse), Carl Craig (Planet E), Christian Smith (Tronic), Will Saul (Simple), legendary Belgian label R&S Records, have all featured stunning Psycatron tracks, so it seems fitting that they have now linked up with Bedrock Records again to end the year in style.

Maetrik & Christian Smith remixes of John Digweed & Nick Muir ‘Satellite’(Bed92R)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 23, 2010 by E.N.

John Digweed & Nick Muir
A. Satellite (Christian Smith Remix) 10.16
AA. Satellite (Maetrik Heavy Mix) 08.32
(Bedrock) Bed92R
12” & Beatport Exclusive  – 30/08/10

Sneak previews of elements of ‘Satellite’ appeared on the new ‘Structures’ LP, where John utilized a breakdown FX version in his mix finale. The full original version was then unleashed in its own right as a single, along with counterpart ‘Meteor’, gaining big support from the like of Carl Cox, Fergie, Desyn Masiello, Hernan Cattaneo, Anderson Noise, Sasha, and many more.

Now, just when you thought you could sit down for a rest,  ‘Satellite’ has received some superb heavy-duty treatment in the remix department from the highly exciting Maetrik, and a top notch big room makeover from Tronic main man, Christian Smith.

Maetrik shows exactly why he’s such an exciting prospect with a stunning low-slung seriously heavy-duty groove that can’t fail to impress. Originally from the USA and now relocated to Valencia Spain, Maetrik (aka Eric Estornel) is making incredible leaps and bounds, creating some of the most devastating and unique music right now with his unique blend of techno, house, funk, and electro. Maybe it’s down to his Cuban roots? Maybe it’s down to his desire to crush genre boundaries? Whatever the reason, John Digweed has made a smart creative call by letting him loose on ‘Satellite’!

The big room vibes are most definitely flowing with Christian Smith’s remix of ‘Satellite’, as he weaves and winds together over ten minutes of epic genre blurring wonder. Mr Smith has been championing his essentially funky mix of house and techno for more than a decade now, creating a highly individual cauldron of chunky grooves with loads of energy. With his own Tronic label releasing some fine fare right now, its no wonder that he was feeling inspired to deliver this superb version of ‘Satellite’.

Between them, John Digweed and Nick Muir, producers of the finest electronic dance music, have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music and have in many ways helped to define genres & push the boundaries further over the years. As with all their releases, ‘Satellite’ / ‘Meteor’ is a mission statement to show that they are not resting on past laurels but always developing their sound in an exciting direction. These remixes of ‘Satellite’ only add fuel to the creative fire. Check them now!

If you want to get the bigger picture, John Digweed’s current ‘Structures’ LP showcases the sound of the Bedrock label in 2010, featuring a plethora of exquisite forward-thinking house, tech-house and techno. Check out www.bedrock.uk.net/structures to preview the artists and sounds of now.

Anyone in London on 2nd October should get themselves down to Brixton Academy to join in the Bedrock 12th Birthday celebrations. It’s going to be a night to remember with John Digweed being joined on the decks by special guest Carl Cox. It doesn’t get much bigger than that!

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 17, 2010 by E.N.

KING UNIQUE
Bedrock – Bed86R
Release: 03 May 2010
1. 2 Million Suns (John Digweed & Nick Muir Remix)
2. Feniksas (Fergie Remix)

Bigger than big! Larger than large! Here are 2 massive remixes of King Unique’s recent chart topping single ‘2 Million Suns’/’Feniksas’. People are screaming to get hold of these remixes, so you’re very lucky to get them first here!
After the massive success of the original King Unique versions, Bedrock returns with a huge remix package featuring remixes from John Digweed & Nick Muir, along with Fergie. Already causing a stir from the parties at WMC and with John Digweed’s Easter Bedrock party, this is set to be another stellar release from the label that is going from strength to strength in 2010.
The mighty King Unique returned to centre stage is March 2010 with a ‘cosmic techno’ sound pressing all the right melodic & psychedelic buttons and some retro-techno goodness, which found its way into the record boxes and hard-drives of DJs across the board worldwide.
Matt Thomas (aka King Unique) kicked off his tenth year at the forefront of the British house scene with a new direction, walking the fine line that prevails between techno, house and progressive. KU’s self-dubbed ‘cosmic techno’ sound has found it’s perfect home on a favourite label – John Digweed’s Bedrock.
Now Matt’s original versions are expanded upon with two mega big room interpretations. John Digweed & Nick Muir’s rocket-fuelled remix of ‘2 Million Suns’ features a very BIG finale. Insane! No less impressive is Fergie’s irrepressible energetic remix of ‘Feniksas’. Slamming! Enjoy!

KING UNIQUE – APRIL CHART – ten tunes in no particular order
Marc Marzenit – “Tulku” Cocoon
Marc on Cocoon. Schumacher in a Ferrari. Fish and chips. Enough said.
King Unique – “2000000 Suns (John Digweed & Nick Muir Remix)” Bedrock
When I asked John to remix 2000000 I knew it would be good – but this is spectacular. Eerie make-you-wait’ vibe that suddenly delivers you into a very loud dark place.
Spada – “Happiness” Manual Music
Huge mad record alert. Fucked-up autistic Border Community-does-donk vibes, like a Justice remix of the Pacman theme.
Mike Sheridan & Mads Langer – “Too Close (Sei A Remix)” R&S
Scandinavian emo-vocal business, given a superb, rich remix from Sei A. Echoes of Boratto and Âme in there, love it.
Triangle – “Five (King Unique Remix)” Flow Vinyl
Just wrapped this one, blissed out vocals and cosmic techno vibes. Leaked a little video clip from this session onto Facebook – big reactions.
Ante Perry & Olivier Gregoire – “Zmaul” Systematic
Anything with Olivier Gregoire involved gets my instant attention, and “Zmaul” has become my first choice set-starter. Doesn’t matter what the dj before has been playing, it resets the night and gets everybody moving and smiling.
Danny Howells vs. Solomun – “Cloud Planets (King Unique Bootleg)” CDR
A big dose of Danny’s serene “Landing On Planets” layered and cut over the Manual Tur remix of Solomun’s “Cloud Dancer”. Goosebump music.
Chemical Brothers – “Lost & Found” Parlophone
The Brothers continue their psychedelic love affair with all things electronic, piggy-backing their blissed out arpeggios on to grungey French electro. Worthy of Soulwax at their messiest.
Steve Ward – “Invisible Papercut (Jamie Stevens Rites Of Passage Remix)” Chameleon Recordings
Crushing, crunching techno beats from Australia’s greatest skinny-tie wearing tech-house don. Something almost industrial going on here that I like.
Rodriguez Jr Vs Marc Romboy “Lac De Nivelles” Systematic
Two of techno’s finest and one moody lake – result. Great summer evening vibes, but the sort of evening that promises to get horribly strange later on…
