haim days are goneBreakout band HAIM will release their highly anticipated debut album, Days Are Gone, on September 30 via Columbia Records. , available today for pre-order on iTunes (iTunes.com/HAIM). Recorded mostly in HAIM’s native Los Angeles, the album sees sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim working alongside acclaimed producers Ariel Rechtshaid (Usher, Vampire Weekend) and James Ford (Florence and the Machine, Arctic Monkeys). Days Are Gone will feature crowd favorites “Falling,” “Forever,” and “Don’t Save Me” as well as brand new tracks that have yet to air live, including title track “Days Are Gone,” which was co-written with Kid Harpoon and Jessie Ware (see below for full track listing).

“The Wire,” the first single from Days Are Gone, is available now on iTunes. Fans who pre-order the album on iTunes will instantly receive a download of the track “The Wire” (iTunes.com/HAIM). Already a live favorite, Fader observes, “the track’s final studio incarnation wisely emphasizes what HAIM does so well live, with ‘We Will Rock You’-styled drums, shades of guitar theatrics and a triumphant, everybody-together-now vocal medley.” MTV Buzzworthy has proclaimed the infectious track a “monster of a song: huge, hooky and ready to wreck major cities and/or pop charts,” and Pitchfork concludes that HAIM are “making some of the best power-pop out there right now.” A music video for “The Wire” will be released shortly.

Jamie xx – Far Nearer /Beat For (STREAM)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on June 6, 2011 by E.N.

After months of anticipation, Jamie xx finally releases his first debut solo single on none other than Bleep’s Best Label of 2010 – Glasgow’s Numbers label. ‘Far Nearer’ is released on limited edition 12″. The hi-spec 12″ comes complete with heavyweight vinyl housed in a fluorescent inner and die cut outer sleeve and when purchased on Bleep comes with an instant MP3 download of the release delivered straight to your account.
The boy with the midas touch has worked with artists such as The xx, the late great Gil Scott-Heron, Florence and the Machine, Adele and is soon to be in the studio with rap superstar Drake. Forget the hype / commercial success though, Jamie xx is an incredible producer and seems appropriate to release on a label whose integrity cannot be questioned.

The lead track is an understated yet powerful production, its ecstatic, steel drum-driven rhythm merging beautifully with its pitch bent and re-interpreted vocal phrase “I Feel Better When I Have You Near Me”. Countering the sweetness of Far Nearer is B-side track ‘Beat For’, a dark and brooding beast blending half-remembered rave hooks with the same sense of rhythm and space that characterizes Jamie’s work with The xx.

British band on the rise, Clock Opera will release their new single “Belongings” on May 9th via UK tastemaker label Moshi Moshi (known for the early championship of acts like Florence and the Machine), as well as making their way across the pond to Austin to showcase their dynamic live show which is garnering them praise and fans in leaps and bounds.

Produced by front man Guy Connelly, “Belongings” is already a highlight of their live set; an incredibly beautiful and emotive song, while the b-side is the understated brooding and delicate “Let Go The Lifeboats.”

Clock Opera has been steadily building a reputation as purveyors of cerebral, original and utterly captivating music over the last year. Their first limited edition single “White Noise” is now a rarity and both “A Piece of String” and “Once and For All” released in 2010 have cemented the band’s prolific future among their constant growing league of followers.

They have supported the likes of Yeasayer and Au Revoir Simone on their UK tours and have also delivered inspired remixes for the aforementioned artists as well as reinterpretations of The Drums and The Golden Filter.

Clock Opera will be performing at this year’s SXSW festival for the first time, and wrapping up recording their debut album slated to see release later this year.
