Spacedrome – You

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on July 5, 2014 by J.D.

Spacedrome - YouSpacedrome is a small collective of young DJs and producers formed by chance in Rome in April 2012. Four friends; each from a different Italian city, met in the small clubs of the capital and found that they all had a common passion: the low frequencies. Combining their individual musical experiences Spacedrome was born; an evolving collective whose mission was to spread their new sound across the world. As pioneers of the dub minimal sound, the four are attempting to create a space in which to gather the followers of bass music to discover the hidden nuances of the “deep side”. As the name itself suggests; Spacedrome is a collective open to all fans of the genre and they are willing to adopt emerging talents who have no place elsewhere. A passion for music and teamwork are the two ingredients that bring forth so much talent from their members.

Track of The Day:IOSHI -Black Dog

What if dub hero King Tubby had the chance to manipulate the tapes containing Burial’s tracks?
Such question pushed IOSHI and Paolo Baldini on an imaginary journey which now comes real. IOSHI’s first release is an ode to his musical hero. With the great help from Paolo Baldini, bringing in his own musical idol, the two Italian musicians use the “Tune/Dub Version” formula to show us that the time gap between dub music and the latest electronica frontiers is not as broad, but that the two genres live in symbiosis instead.

Fedbymachines – Abyss EP (Preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 28, 2014 by J.D.

Fedbymachines - Abyss EPNetherlands-based Fedbymachines brings us lush experimental atmospherics steeped in emotion. Lots of subtle elements come together in an intricate meticulous mix of sound. He describes his own sound as quite melancholy and dusty, an apt description for the 5-tracks that he has put together for us.

With previous releases on both Warminal and Broken Bubble in 2011 and a few compilation appearances since then, it’s about time we had something new from Fedbymachines and ahead of another EP release later this year, this is the perfect 5-track primer.

02 Fedbymachines – Abyss
03 Fedbymachines – One More Day

Download:Mao- Black Narcissus

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 30, 2014 by J.D.

MAO-1-webFrom one EP and a handful of remixes and collaborations, MAO have garnered support from the likes of Vice, iD, Dummy, Earmilk, Oneman, Untold, Pangea and beyond for their distinct take on forward-thinking soulful, electronic music.

For an anonymous duo from Brighton, MAO have so far attracted an impressive and growing band of collaborators including 14th, Lulu James, Mumdance, Marin, Dems and Seasfire – a disparate, but like-minded bunch who share their genre-defying passion.

It’s this ability to make ‘MAO-music’, rather than provide a generic A&R-led formula, that’s led to remix requests for Mad Decent’s Zebra Katz, Maribou State, Alex Barck and The Bloody Beetroots featuring Theophilus London.

Leftfield, but with an eye on the main-stage, MAO’s wide-screen sound is a compelling mixture of sub bass, textured soul, lush strings, and futuristic synths – as neo-modernist as the artwork they curate for their releases. The bass-heavy bump of ‘Black Narcissus’ is a prime example of their production prowess, the track will accompany their new single, ‘Ways Of Seeing’ feat 14th, released on 2 June on Uschii Music.
