egypthe Do LaB teamed up with The Confluence to create a stunning ode to the ancient civilizations of Egypt through a time lapsed recap ofThe Great Convergence festival. Set at the foot of the Giza pyramids and along the banks of the Nile River, this gathering sought to celebrate life and the resetting of the 26,000 year cyclic calendar which came to pass on the Winter Solstice 2012.

The Great Convergence featured top Egyptian acts including the renowned Sufi dance group, Al-Tannoura Whirling Dervishes, and a selection of top electronic music producers and DJ’s from around the the world including headliners Beats Antique, Apparat, Random Rab, Bluetech, Gaudi, Govinda, Desert Dwellers, David Starfire, DJ Dragonfly, and Imagika Om.

Additionally, the festival boasted panels and workshops with various experts including Carmen Boulter of The Pyramid Code, renown geologist Robert Schoch, along with several local Egyptologists to discuss the mysteries of the pyramids and the secrets of the ages

The team used the action prone versatility of GoPro to shoot the awe-inspiring energy which surrounded this event. By capturing these images with utmost quality and presenting them in a controlled storm of forward seeking motion, the scenes which moved the participants of this festival towards introspection can be experienced by all. Through the tiny, yet crisp lens of a GoPro camera, anyone can dive into the historical importance of the Egyptian landscape and the wonders that were had.

A forthcoming documentary on The Great Convergence will be released later in 2013. Shot, produced and edited (as with this GoPro video) by The Confluence — an LA based Media and Production firm.

While positioned in the wake of the political turbulence that currently defines Egypt, this experiential event (and forthcoming film) transcend the media’s stranglehold on the issue and aims a much needed source of hope and rejuvenation directed toward the site of Earth’s first high culture, Egypt.

Based in Los Angeles, The Do LaB’s mission is to create experience as art and bring communities together. They are best known for their creative stages at Coachella and their signature West Coast festival, Lightning in a Bottle, which achieves a unique atmosphere that focuses on art, spiritual well-being, and sustainability as much as it does on top talent and music.  The Great Convergence was The Do LaB’s effort at creating a gathering of a lifetime to mark the pivotal Winter 2012 solstice  against an amazing ancient backdrop.

Tickets for The Do LaB’s signature West Coast festival, Lightning in a Bottle, went on sale March 18th!  For more information about Lightning in a Bottle, visit or follow LIB at or The Do LaB at and

Gaudi- ‘No Prisoners’ out 20th September 2010

Released 20th September 2010

Gaudi’s latest album ‘No Prisoners’ arrives during a very successful time for the London based producer and artist. He’s been nominated for a BBC World Music Award for his last album ‘Dub Qawwali’ (with legendary Sufi singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan), collaborated with French musical inventor Michel Moglia and his unique Fire Organ – performing to a crowd of 350,000 at The Coliseum, Rome – while still finding time for official collaborations with Horace Andy, Grandmaster Flash, Simple Minds and an official Bob Marley project.

In all his albums Gaudi has worked to create his own down-tempo style using elements of dub, electronica and world music. ‘No Prisoners’ takes a step in an upbeat direction with raw production, live bass, guitars, percussion, drums, keys and more meeting Gaudi’s signature analogue mastery of vintage synthesizers, tape echoes and spring reverb. The result gives ‘No Prisoners’ the warmth and authenticity that has become synonymous with Gaudi’s music, while being his most energetic release yet.

A highly respected line-up of guests adds international appeal to the album. Amongst them, California’s conscious political lyricist and founder of Spearhead Michael Franti lends his emotive tones to ‘There’s Enough’, Brooklyn based reggae artist Dr Israel (of Easy Star All Stars ‘Dub Side Of The Moon’ fame) features on ‘No Time’, multi-million selling Italian singer-songwriter Elisa gives a feminine edge to ‘Brainwashed Again’ and Jamaican Reggae vocalist Kenny Knots goes deep with ‘Strictly Goodness’. Other notable guests include pioneering down-tempo dub producer Dub Gabriel on ‘Barracudub’ and UK electro-breaks producers Dom Smart (aka Neurodriver) and Tom Real who feature on ‘No More Blood’ and ‘Bad Boy Bass’ respectively.

‘No Prisoners’, as the title suggests, is an album made without concessions, each track uncompromising in the delivery of its sonic payload. | |
