The Peach Kings Announce New York City +Free Download

The Peach Kings, Texan Paige McClain Wood and Californian Steven Trezevant Dies, are set to release their new EP Handsome Moves in September 6, 2012 and in celebration are playing 3 special shows in New York City.
They describe their sound as “gypsydelic,” which is just what it sounds like. Stemming from their inability to choose one genre of music to play, they coined the term in order to reflect their own personal view of the band. “Gypsy-” because they were inspired by playing outdoors and “-delic” because it contains just a hint of strange.  Paige and Steven are strongly influenced by visuals in cinema and fashion. In fact, Drew Barrymore discovered their music and selected them to be a part of her Spring Music Preview spread for V Magazine, alongside the likes ofMayer Hawthorne, M83, Spank Rock, Warpaint, and The Drums.
The duo fill the gap between upbeat rock and downtempo electronic, with comparisons being made to The Black Keys, Mazzy Star and The XX. Similarities can also be drawn to Little Dragon, and how they do so much with so little. They draw their sound and inspiration from the smoky smooth crackle of blues, folk, and soul vinyls as well as the hypodermic tones synthesized in various beat laboratories across the globe. Stripped down, The Peach Kings’ power is derived from Paige’s hauntingly sensual vocals combined with Steven’s complementary rhythm and picking.
Sexy is a word used often in describing The Peach Kings sound. The EP features the intoxicating lead single “Fisherman” to the sultry “Like A Stone” and the sweet sounds of “Lonely”. The EP in its entirety has a lot of found sounds that were salvaged from the delirious recordings of giddy musicians with really expensive gear.
It’s been a long time goal for the Peach Kings to press a record on vinyl, as they want themselves and their families to have an artifact that can be found in a crate 50 years from now. Not only that, but in 50 years, that piece of music, like a fine wine, will have gathered all the character and noise that makes vinyl so nostalgic and timeless.

The EP artwork for Handsome Moves was created by Shane A. Richard, a musically inspired artist from California. The Peach Kings are large supporters of their local art scene, with a strong belief in building an artistic community around themselves. Look out for the upcoming video for “Fisherman,” directed by Jace Armstrong, and old friend of Steven’s from Silver Lake.

CINEMA (Skrillex remix) is one of the greatest works of art ever made.
Kanye West

2011 was the year that put Gary Go on dance music’s radar.  The quirky and introspective pop artist was suddenly thrust to the forefront of the scene upon collaborating with mega-producer and hit maker Benny Benassi, writing and performing the chart-topping dance club anthem “Cinema.”  After enjoying a GRAMMY-nominated remix from Skrillex and being front and center in Benassi’s video for “Close to Me”, Gary Go toured the globe as the face and voice of dance music.  But that was last year.  Now that 2012 is upon us, Gary is stepping into the spotlight on his own with his new album“Now Was Once The Future.”

Listen to the new track “Our Love is on the Line.” (Download HERE)

Now Was Once The Future” gets released on January 11th and further showcases Gary’s talents as a songwriter, vocalist and producer.  The new mini-concept album tells the story of the aftermath of a breakup, chronicling the moment when someone you love leaves you.  His first single, a new interpretation of “Cinema”, transforms the dance hall anthem into a spaced out electronic ballad.  In conjunction with the announcement of the NWOTFrelease date, Gary is releasing a new single “Our Love is on the Line.” Gary’s spirited and soulful vocals take center stage on the funk and soul-influenced track.  It is a pop gem that is as catchy as it is riveting.

NWOTF features a stellar group of musicians including drummer Deantoni Parks(Meshell N’Degeocello / Mars Volta), violinist Davide Rossi (Coldplay / Goldfrapp),Memphis Horns (Elvis Presley / Al Green) and mixer Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros / M83 / Moby).  The album was produced by Gary Go at his own The Whipping Club studios and features artwork by world-traveling graphic designer Kaonashi.

Track Listing:
1. Cinema (Ft. Carina Round)
2. Our Love is on the Line
3. A Lie at a Time
4. I Want My Heart Broken Again
5. Heavy (Ft. Harry Collier)
6. Superfuture

Soundtrack Mini-Album Coming Soon.

“… melancholy yet grandiose and uplifiting” – MTV Buzzworthy

“Shimmering” – Marie Claire

It’s been an interesting year for Gary Go. Primarily known for his delicately introspective and slightly quirky songwriting, the pop crooner was catapulted into the dance charts this year thanks to his involvement (as both songwriter and vocalist) on “Cinema”, a major club hit from mega-producer Benny Bennassi‘s debut album. The song has gained additional chart mileage with a remix by dubstep sensation Skrillex.

After so much success in the hands of other world-class producers, Gary is ready to unveil his own version of “Cinema” (available HERE), which transforms the club hit into a spacious down-tempo ballad. The track features the luscious vocals of Carina Round(Early Winters / Puscifer) and is the first song from his upcoming soundtrack mini-albumNow Was Once The Future, due out in early 2012.

Now Was Once The Future chronicles the end of a relationship and coming to terms with that loss. NWOTF features a stellar group of musicians including drummer Deantoni Parks (Meshell N’Degeocello / Mars Volta), violinist Davide Rossi (Coldplay / Goldfrapp), and Memphis Horns (Elvis Presley / Al Green) and mixer Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros / M83 / Moby).

Gary was asked to write songs for the Grammy-winning Benassi after the hit-maker remixed “Wonderful” from Gary’s debut album. Since Benassi’s release earlier this year, “Cinema” has topped dance charts in the UK, reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Airplay Chart and received Platinum status in Australia where Gary Go will be joining Benny Benassi onstage during the Stereosonic Music Festival later this month. The success of the track has also brought Gary to venues in the US, playing such iconic electronic music showcases as New York City’s Electric Zoo and Chicago’s North Coast Festival.

Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming NWOTF soundtrack album from Gary Go!

Cut from the forthcoming debut album Staring At The Ice Melt. Produced by Pierrick Devin (Adam Kesher, Alex Gopher, Cassius and Cut Copy) and mixed by Stéphane “Alf” Briat (Phoenix, Air and Sebastien Tellier)

The way they arrange music is like a candy shop, everything is very sweet, the whole thing is very fresh. It’s a mix between classical music and modern pop music. Yeah, it’s a recent thing that people should know about for sure.” – Thomas Mars – Phoenix

Fortune “Mission (M83 Remix)

Fortune “Gimme (Blackjoy Edit)”

Fortune is comprised of members from various other music projects including Lionel Pierres (Abstrackt Keal Agram), Pierre Lucas (The Big Knife, DJ for Abstrackt Keal Agram, keyboards for Alain, Chamfort), Hervé Loos (Y front, Rodolphe Burger’s Meteor Band) and François de Miomandre (The Yolks). At the End of 2007, Fortune released their first EP, an intense delivery of four Synth Pop-Rock bangers brightly crafted to simultaneously create uproar in the crowd as well as stir emotions.

As for the influences, whereas most bands now labelled as ‘post-punk’ are clearly heir to one or more mythical acts (take your pick from Joy Division, Talking Heads, Gang of Four, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Human League, New Order etc), Fortune goes against the flow : if you can spot, here and there, a few familiar sounds from those artists in the band’s music, the references put forward by the front man range from 60s Pop Rock bands such as the Zombies, The Troggs or Love, to basic Disco for its rhythm, or even the “King of Pop” himself Michael Jackson. Grandaddy, Doppler Effekt, Lo-Fi-Fnk and Vampire Weekend are quoted amongst the more recent bands having come to light in the last decade.

The chemistry could not have stuck together had it not been for an overwhelming production effort. Pierrick Devin, also regarded as the band’s fifth member, was given this task, as he had been before by Adam Kesher, Alex Gopher, Cassius or even Cut Copy. The mixing, vital to find the adequate balance of elements described above, was put in the trusted hands of Stéphane “Alf” Briat, also producer and mixer for such artists as Phoenix (“United”), Air (“Premiers symptoms”, “Moon Safari”, “The Virgin Suicides”), Sebastien Tellier (“Sessions”) etc. Finally, three additional artists also contributed to “Staring At The Ice Melt’s” musical richness: Arnaud Roulin from Poni Hoax (bass guitar and clavinet), Jean Thévenin (percussions, who also played with Soko, Toyfight, Hopper, Tahiti Bob & The Palmtree Family) and Melody Prochet (aka My Bee’s Garden) adding vocal harmonies.
